Thanks for the tip of the Lisa See novel. I think that you would very much enjoy "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan." It is a very good read. "The Reliable Wife" seems intriguing.
Shanghai Girls will be my first Lisa See and I hope I'll love it.🤞🏾Reliable Wife does sound intriguing. either it's going to be really good or a huge s---t show. Stay tuned in 2025....
JM Coetzee is Nobel prize winning author from post-apartheid South Africa. I have read 3 of his, but not _Elizabeth Costello_ (which I have yet to find at my used book store). All were uncomfortable in different ways. All were complex and somewhat dark. No easy answers and all require thought. I specifically recommend _Disgrace_ (definitely South African) and _Waiting For the Barbarians_ (which could be set anywhere). From this shelf, _Elizabeth Costello_ would be my next read.
Yeah I'm kinda loving that too. I had forgotten about all of the cool bookmarks Book Depository gave for free when books were ordered. The 2 dried leaves were the most impressive.
The book about the Mandolin has been in my brain for years! I swear I just saw it somewhere! I’ll wait for your review, I think. Also, I read the book about the horse camp and liked it! Years ago.
I find that the books on the shelves below my waist do not get read as often as those at eye level. I try to rotate the books on my shelves, especially the lower ones. I agree with your assessment of _Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee_ which is in my top 10 non-fiction.
I can see that happening. I've rearranged my coffee table books and graphic novels to be on the las 2 shelves. That allowed me to move my paperbacks up. Not only did I have to bend down, I also had to move the sofa out of the way.🤦🏾♀️ Not anymore.😁

I own a Folio copy of Discrace. Hope to get to it sooner than later.
You finding bookmarks between the pages, like surprise treasure. Have A Reliable Wife and On the Road. Should get to them this year. I hope!

Christian sounds like you're encouraging me to read Captain Corral's Mandolin in 2025
Those sound like some interesting books.. I am going to try the Jonathan trooper
Which ones are you most interested in?
The Fingersmith was excellent. So many twists and turns. Watch the BBC movie after you read it. It was also well done.
Wow, I did not know. Will definitely watch it after I read it.

I really want to get into some Sarah Waters. I don’t think it will be in 2025 but she’s on my list. People rave about most of her novels.
Yes that's what I hear. I like the idea of reading Fingersmith in 2025.🤔
