Great show, this is very underrated 90's tv classic,it was way ahead of it's time,i watched it when it was on the Disney Channel and been a fan for years and years.i'm watching The Torkelsons during this difficult time.
Gosh, this show is crazy nostalgic!!! Loved this show when it was on Disney and still do! Wish they had more seasons. Binge watching the Torkelson’s during this lockdown...
Watching these episodes is really getting to me. You can see the quality in the writing and performing. Shame on NBC for not giving this show a chance! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
The guy playing Molly's brother is the voice of Max Goof from A Goofy Movie, he's also been on so many episodes of primetime sitcoms like Step By Step and Boy Meets World. Chuckie Lee is Minkus from Boy Meets World. Not sure about others. @SnazzyDetritus
Yeah the second season the episodes focused a lot less on Dorothy Jane and more on everyone else in the family. Which makes sense I guess because we had to get to know the rest of the cast. But I enjoyed season 1 all on its own. It had a lot more heart. Almost Home feels just like every other sitcom. The Torkelsons felt unique.
@@ManMonkey600 Yeah, AH seems to be more comedic and a clash of two families' values. The best stuff in AH was the scenes with the two girls. They were like sisters in a sibling rivalry.
I think she did it a little bit, but not all the time. The last episode she does it in is the birthday episode where she turns 16. Now that was an early episode so maybe the writers thought that Dorothy Jane wouldn't do that anymore at that age.
@@steveespinola7652 Terrible film, though. There was a TV movie I just remembered called The Gun and the Nun from 1971. But the title there sounds like a prepackaged deal to a studio.
Just love Millicent in this and understanding her children and look pass the grades. Some parents are careless and just wants their child to bring home good grades...doesn't care how or what they did to get the grade. HATE it when people think you could ace English without trying because you speak it 🙄.

I know right it’s more than I can speak English so I’m going to Ace it. English Is more about critical thinking and analyzing certain themes and subjects.
you sound silly because they teach it at school. What Molly is taking is not English . Its English Lit . You may not know anything about that , if you arent from the west
Yeah, this was a little different, with it being about the clashing of the values between the two families. Still, it was good to see them and I wish they had stayed around longer.
yeah- they're both tremendous actresses, (past tense in brittany murphy's case) but i feel like olivia burnette was typecast all the time and was never really able to escape the same sorts of dramatic roles she kept playing
Brittany Murphy really carries the comedy of this show. I liked her so much in this and when she was in Clueless. Once she got super skinny i felt she wasnt as relatable anymore. Still love her.
Not really fair. How Molly takes up all the room in the attic. While Dorothy Jane has that small little space by the window. Why did she end up moving there anyway ? Didn't the dad get the room she ran the car into fixed ?!
It was done for stories, like when Molly and Dorothy Jane worked together. From Molly's point of view, it is her home, her mother passes away and then she has to deal with all of these people living in her home who generally weren't always nice to her (I know she wasn't nice to them either) and her father totally favors them over her and her brother.
@@alyssarose3880 true but she isn't the worst person in the world so pretty sure she would be able to bond with somebody. Everybody would always have that one friend.
I wonder if it has to do with the order of the shows being taped vs. aired. Shows are not aired in the order they are taped at times. That can explain discrepancy shit.
Yes, that was that film I was asking about. Well, why did anyone want to do that crap film? Look at the stars and director involved. Guess they thought it would work and were getting paid a lot of money.
@@vanessateas47 Well, it's not that she gets killed from a violent rape and attack that makes it bad, it was the way the film was done that made it suck. I don't know why she took the role, guess for money and work. I'm sure she doesn't keep it on her resume, unlike Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and this TV show.
I think there is nothing wrong with Molly’s father pushing her to do better. I don’t think he should compare her to Dorthy Jane. He should just leave Dorthy Jane out of it. If he wants Molly to do better he should stop over accommodating to her. He threw her a sweet sixteen birthday bash with swans in the pool. He should take away certain rewards if she isn’t making good grades. I think Molly could do a lot better as well.
Well, maybe he doesn't get the idea, that's the thing. And I guess he should've been happy with the B in Driver's Ed, but still I can see him not liking the D in English, since it was a more important course.

This was the 2nd chance.
Torrkelson almost home was a heartwarming and with a great cast
Who would have thought that Chucky Lee would grow up to be our beloved Marvin “Mouth” McFadden on One Tree Hill.
I like the relationship between Dorthy Jane and her mom
It's the sweetest thing!
I still like this show it should've lasted longer.
Me too, and they should have ran just the torkelsons longer as well
Well the guy was too much of a deranged misogynist 2 finish this
LoL 😂 Why do you say that?
Had to do with ratings I guess. Also, since the network was doing so well, they didn't need to give new shows a long chance versus the decade before.
Crazy how many future stars came from these series.
It happens with a lot of series.
Who turned out to be a bona fide star besides Brittany Murphy?

See what I did there!
Yes, I see what you did there.
LoL 😁 good one.
AND she was Molly Gunn in Uptown Girls.
😄
Yeah, I saw it. Ha, ha, ha.
Fun Fact for everyone Connie Ray (Mrs Torkelson) was in the movie Speed 2: Cruise Control, she was the lady in the lepord dress.
She was also in another movie hope floats with Sandra Bullock she played Bobbie Clair the angry customer at the 1 hour photo shop.
Let's not forget her pivotal role as Stewardess on Tbe Brady Bunch Movie 2.

Here's something else: Pride and Prejudice was Jane Austen. So was Emma, which Clueless was an adaptation of, which Brittany Murphy appeared in.
Six degrees of Brittany Murphy

R.I.P. Brittany Murphy (1977-2009)
Dorothy Jane was so mature man
She had good values that she got from her mom.

I was sad that the best season of this series only lasted 13 episodes
The episodes stopped starting with DJ talking to the man in the moon
