Episodes of this series will remain here until arrangements are made to put this series on DVD or on Netflix.
Millicent was wrong on this one. She and the younger 2 guilted DJ into staying with them instead of doing what she really wanted. Shame on them.
I agree.
This. Like this was kind of a narcissistic move on Millicents part. Sometimes she sees DJ more as an extension of herself and how the world sees HER values.
I think a party is good for DJ she deserves it. She works hard in school and she appreciates things.
Mr. Morgan is like the father she never had. It’s not just because he is generous but they have a lot in common and DJ can talk to him about things. He treats her like she’s his daughter.
"You've got your whole family here with you." Well . . except for Stephen Floyd and Ruth Ann.
Stephen Woehr ...and the grandmother! And Mr Hodges.
Lmao
I know right. They just wrote them all out with no explanation thinking fans wouldn't notice.
Yes where the heck did they go lol
Their contacts ran out.
I personally didn't feel bad for Millicent. She used guilt and shame to make Dorothy Jane do what she wanted instead of making the day about the person it was supposed to be about - the person having the birthday and predictably it ended in disappointment. She could have had dinner with her family and then gone to the party.
glass rune I totally agree with you. Her entire family was behaving like selfish, spoiled brats.
i know, they come off very smug. dorthy jane said it perfectly... i want to have fun just once! come on
I thought it was so awkward the way they were having their dinner in the middle of Molly's party :/ DJ must have felt so embarrassed! They should have gone to a restaurant for DJ's birthday, then gone to Molly's party afterwards.
Yes. This episode was frustrating for that reason. Dorothy Jane did nothing wrong. She wanted to spend her sixteenth birthday with her friends, which her mother should have recognized was important on two fronts: one, a woman turning sixteen (or a man for that matter) is typically a right of passage, a coming of age party, which should be special and, secondly, Dorothy Jane is still trying to find herself in a new city in a very tough environment being still fairly new to her high school.
Dorothy Jane was not the selfish one here - it was Millicent for making her feel guilty and not corralling the other kids, and instead weaponizing both against Dorothy Jane.
I gotta say, I do think this time Millicent got it wrong.
Just got chills from the song on this. This show takes me back. I appreciate this more nowadays.
“You’ve got your whole family here with you.”
Well except for the two siblings that randomly and mysteriously disappeared after last season.
They live in the same house. Why couldn't she have gone to both parties? I think Millicent was jealous.
This really pisses me off. She should be able to do what she wants on her birthday.
I know right
They were selfish for the guilt trip when you only turn 16 once. Plus they wouldn’t have passed up a huge sweet 16 if the tables were flipped.
@@PineapplesCoconut They made it their birthday not her's.
They kept some of the old wardrobe. Dorothy Jane's dress that Ruth Ann wanted so badly in the first season.
That's the dress Dorothy Jane was wearing when she met Riley Roberts. :-)
I’ve always adored her dresses and style it was one of my favorite shows growing up because her whole room curtains pillows dolls dresses were covered in floral pattern-a 6 year old 90s girly girl dream. That and the bedroom from It Takes Two lol
Jason Marden, Lee Norris and Brittney Murphy were all on Boy Meets World
"Run over by a golf cart"
"Benedict Torkelson"
This show had awesome writing!
My 16th birthday was spent in the hospital in another country. Most certainly not how I had expected to spend it!
Steven Floyd and Ruth Ann would have enjoyed Dorothy Jane's birthday too!!
I know they would have went to the party 🎊
I think Ruthanne would of been laughing at Dorothy Jane for not going to Molly's Party and probably helping Molly to keep her from going to The party
Good riddance to those two mean little snits
They guilt-tripped Dorothy Jane and that wasn’t cool. They could have had both types of parties on different days. She had every right to celebrate with her peers and have fun, they could have moved their dinner and cake to another day.
Agree! Sixteen is a huge year for a teenager. The way they made it about themselves was not endearing at all >:(
I think this is a little overkill. It's one thing to have values, but if my family did that to me on my 16th birthday I would think they were being a bit petty. It's not like Dorothy asked for it.
I gotta admit Dorothy Jane and Molly did look beautiful in those dresses they were wearing.
ugh
You again, you must have nothing else better to do. LoL 😁
@@steveespinola7652 somehow you seem to be into the same 80s/90s shows as I.
Oh I thought you were going to say something weird again, LoL 😁 but yes I'm into old 80's and 90's shows just like you cause I watched them when I was a kid in 80's and a teen 90's and when they came on like this show I watched them
Would've been funny if they were the same dress.
Molly shaking her head no: Dorothy Jane do you want to share a birthday party with me?
Dorothy Jane: Yes
Molly: What do you mean yes?
LoL 😁 that was funny.
* points* hey it's Brian Krakow from My So Called Life! Seems like lots of ppl got their start from this show!
Since they live together and are sort of like a family the birthdays for both girls should have been planned and discussed beforehand with everyone knowing what was going to happen. Very odd of Molly's father to change the plans like that at the last minute, it put everyone in a weird situation. Also, I see nothing wrong with having the celebrations on 2 different days.
I mean they live in the same house, it's not like Dorothy Jane needed a cordial invite lol. This was a cute show but the implausibility of the writing really killed it.
First of all, when Mr. Morgan planned Molly's birthday party, he had to know that Dorothy Jane's birthday was also coming up.
To add Dorothy Jane at the last minute, literally the day of the party, was terrible.
Second, since it didn't matter to Dorothy Jane to be an afterthought, there was no reason that everyone couldn't go to the party together . . . there was no reason to make Dorothy Jane have to choose.
Maybe he didn't know about her birthday coming up at the same time. I don't think he was that close to her.
I hated how the mom and the other brat daughter guilted Dj into staying for that stupid dinner afterwards even chuck left to the party
I remember at the end Millicent mentioned the other party and Dorothy Jane agreed to go if Millicent came with her
That one girl played connie in the Mighy Ducks movie
Remember in the episode in Pyramid Corners Dorothy Jane was looking for popularity so she. Tootered Willie and when she decided to have a party at their house Milicent agreed to it but Kirby got in his snit about hanging out with the other kids and Willie was upset to see the party happening in the living room so it strange the family got upset at Dorothy Janes existence I agree with the person she could of gone to both party's since Dorothy Janes party was small and Molly's party's longer it's like Milicent forgot the RSVP party
Mr Morgan was finally right its miracle
Had to happen at least once
I guess now she shares her room with Molly for some reason.
"IT'S IMPORTANT FOR WHAT YOU ARE".
AND WHO YOU ARE.
AND BEING WITH YOUR FAMILY. AMEN.
That's not Dorothy Jane's whole family... Rip Steven Floyd and Ruth Ann.
It's a shame Millicent had to sell two of her kids to afford the bus tickets to Seattle.
good episode
They were so wrong for that. If it was me. I would tell Mr. Morgan thank you so much for making this day so special. I would tell DJ we will have a family one tomorrow where we will have our dinner and cake.
I like her blowing the raspberry when she talks about fortune with the Man in the Moon.
Dorothy Jane's family made me so mad. They were so selfish and self-righteous. It was Dorothy Jane's birthday. She had the right to have whatever kind of party she wanted.
Agreed. Her family just blows.
Ughhhh yessss. I like the show but this episode bothers me. I can’t believe they made her feel like shit on her bday
Mr. Morgan didn't have to include Dorothy Jane and I'm sure her mother didn't have to pay him back either so there was no reason for her mom to say no. It wasn't right that they made Dorothy Jane feel awful about a party that they included her in for free. She should have been glad that her daughter got to enjoy a nice free birthday party that she never would have been able to afford. It's almost like she's keeping her daughter used to having less and never getting to enjoy more
that's how parents are, especially if they have bucolic backgrounds. The nuclear family unit should be paramount but they often belittle those who have views different than the group. I know exactly how Dorothy Jane feels in my own sphere. It sucks to have such things inflicted upon you.
They couldn't afford that kinda party. It may have been extravagant but it was artificial, filled with people who were just there for the glitz and glamor. Her family worked hard to give to her one from the heart. Loved ones > Things
DorothyJane should of just had her birthday with her family because Molly really didn't want to share a birthday party with her anyways and why would you want to share a party and you not even wanted at the party?
Does Dorthy Jane talk less southern in Almost Home? I feel like she dropped the accent quite a bit. :( The Torkelsons was way better
It might also be her voice changing a bit with her getting older. Let's also say that maybe living in Seattle she started to adapt a different voice. That happens.
That happened to my cousins when they moved up north.
Moving somewhere new can have that effect
I hate the way Molly says Dorothy Jane’s name. “Darthy Jane” ksnfjdndd
I hate that name period. Dorothy Jane
FAMILY IS EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING.
FAMILY FOR LIFE.
PRAISE GOD FOREVER AND ALWAYS TILL THE END OF TIME ⏲️ AMEN 🙏.
I love this show…Seattle version. Perry King, Brittany Murphy and Jason Mardsen were the best. Jason and Brittany were the funniest. Millicent and DJ added wholesomeness in the show. Didn’t like Millicent’s take in this episode. Let DJ have fun. She’s not shallow just because she wants more for her sweet sixteen. Mr. Morgan was sweet to share the big birthday party. I agree with DJ; why not attend the Morgan’s’ party together and have fun. It’s not shallow just to want more. Wish they didn’t do the romance between Millicent/Mr Morgan.
cool
I LOVE Gregory.
Looks like they are almost wearing the same dress.
This girl was poor her whole life and had one shot at a dream party and her mom made her feel bad about it.
Not cool at all.
I thought they would show Mr. Morgan talking to Molly.
Unspected is not a word
Juanesha Franklin It is now. ;)
We've made it a word!
But why does she allow her little son to be such a creep?
Who is Seattle has a pool btw? LOL
Rich people
So they never fix the wall that Molly wrecked.
Maybe they decided to have them share the room because then you could have more scenes with the two girls.
i hated this episode because chucky-lee and mary-sue would had been the first ones out on that dance floor if this party was for them. and the mama should be ashamed of herself too! she had them kids living in poverty and they finally are getting a taste of the good life and she wants to play the family card...let Dorothy get a taste of the rich life and chill TF out...ughhh they made me mad lol
sorry Mill you were totally wrong in your actions. DJ and her family could've had one big party for both girls. Mill could've tried to be a little broad-minded.
Listen Linda listen lol
Oh they're gonna do man on the moon again? cool
In, not on. I guess they did it at times, just not every episode.
This was actually the last time they did it. Looking at the list of episodes and their production order, she had actually done it in the early episodes they filmed, but stopped doing it as the show went on for some reason.
So if Molly was 15/16 how old was Greg?
Probably 17
Golf ⛳ carts are dangerous
Guest the other kids were fired
Was it really fair that Brian forced Molly to share her party with Dorothy Jane? I think maybe it would have been more fair to just invite Dorothy Jane and acknowledge that it was also her birthday, since the party was originally intended to just be for Molly.
Molly is spoiled. It's good for her to have to share just once in her life.
mark love you
hi mark love you
She should’ve done what she wanted.
16yo ?!! Wasn't she 14 last season ??!
Yeah I just realized that too she was 14 last season, how is she 15 going on 16 here?? 🤔
Yea and when they first moved to Seattle it was a year later and she was 15.
That's how numbers work. I'm really starting to think I give the general public too much credit.
"Tenderness" was a jam, though.
@@steveespinola7652 In the episode where her father returns Dorothy Jane states she's almost 15. If this is slightly over a year later it could work out.
I think you are right, if my math is correct then yeah it could work out for her to be 16yrs.
I seen this show and forgot Brittany Murphy was in it.
it's so sad about Brittany. i know it's been a while but still...
I never understood why they chose Seattle as the city for this spin-off to take place. If the whole point was to portray a down-to-earth simple southern family moving to a more shallow, status-driven, busy city, they should have chose NYC or LA or something. Seattle seems kind of a weird setting to pick.
I like Seattle or also somewhere in PA, the places you mentioned are done way too much on TV
Its the 90s ...Seattle was perfect
Yes, LA and NYC are too common on TV. I don't know what's wrong with Seattle in your mind, but I like it. But the real reason why they moved to Seattle is because that's were Brian Morgan and his kids lived. Since Millicent was hired to help around his house and instill moral values in his kids, it would be weird if she went to a different city than where they lived.
What say you in 2020? 😏
Frasier was set in Seattle too, and you don't get much more upscale yuppy than that.
At least they had a sweet 16 I never did my mom literally planned out everything I didn’t get a say in any of it when we left Pizza Hut a few friends saw me they took me out to a pizza place that’s up the street from my house and as I was getting in their car my mom said if I wasn’t home by 10 she was gonna call the cops and report me as a run away I told her that I had my cell and that I would call if anything changed but she said that it didn’t matter
On
Normally I side with Millicent, but she was in the wrong here.
The writing was better in S.1
Millicient is corny. That gift 🎁 was cheesy
I like that gift a passport book. It would have been even better if Millicent bought her a passport and tickets to Paris.
A savings passbook is not a passport. Go back and rewatch that scene. No one mentions a passport. She wouldn't be able to get DJ a passport as a surprise. They don't just hand them out like that. Besides, i don't think she could afford to get her one on the off chance she might maybe use it someday in the distant future.
@@kateyes8377 I know it’s not a passport that’s why I said passport book. Yes I know she can’t afford it. It was wishful thinking.
💔 it was heartfelt and homemade 😢
People saying that Millicent was wrong, didn't watch the whole thing and clearly hold material possessions higher than family bonds. In other words, only shallow people would think Millicent was wrong.
