    The video discusses sand for concrete, but another use of sand that is affected by the shortage of the right type of sand is beach renourishment. Beach renourishment requires the right sand in the right place or else it can erode too quickly. I think there are a couple cases in Florida where the wrong type of sand was used to replenish beaches and The new sand was eroded within a year or two. That's the only context in which I had heard about the sand shortage before, not sand used for concrete.

      This two are actually conected, beaches were used as supply of construction sand both legally and illegally for decades, problem exist even today (hence existence of sand mafia), in my place government was discussing replenishing of the beaches while people were posting pictures of trucks driving away with illegally harvested sand.

  • @stephenyoung1484
    @stephenyoung1484 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    As a small correction, you mention that the round sand is used in concrete. The two types are commonly known as soft and sharp sand, only sharp sand is used in concrete as it can take more weathering and binds much stronger. The soft sand (round egdes) is used for things like laying brick as it has a softer smoother feel and can be worked much easier in smaller amounts, from a trowel for instance.

      God Of Madness1 Overpopulation is just another easy generalized catchphrase to point and say "oh, that's the blame!" and same goes for capitalism. They both might hold some truth when we start discussing them, but in reality they aren't the answer to the problem. Consumer mentality, putting more importance to actual economic profits rather than respecting certain values and standards, are actual problems. But they are too specific for people to find interesting so they just blame things like overpopulation and capitalism. It's easier and has no target.

We have about 9 gallons of sand now and we're not sure how long that will last us before we need to get more. Just because you want a certain result, and decide to research it, doesn't mean you will eventually be able to produce that result guaranteed.
      If you want 2+2=5. You can research it all you want, you will still not get the result you want. Or even if the result is achieved, is the method viable.
      In this case, the results that are wanted are:
      1. Affordable
      2. Works with a larger variety of sand
      3. The product can be of use in a large variety of situations. (Since we are looking to replace the current formula which is used in a very large variety of situations.)
      4. Formula includes non-scarce materials only

      We don't have to. We're not actually going to run out of sand. The whole discussion is absurd.

      Exactly buildings get demolished from time to time and also we have woods and metals for future constructions/motorhouses.
      But one thing seems clear more is needed of anything only because of more population,it's constantly rising even waste too.
      Anyway Peace brother or sister
