Here's Why I Hate the Tesla Plaid! It’s Completely Unfair!

  • I give you my thoughts on the Tesla Model S Plaid and tell you just what it takes to compete with one. This is the world's quickest car yet it is completely docile in traffic, it doesn't spin, it doesn't care about temperature, and it will do it all on normal street tires. It redefines everything we know about the performance capabilities of modern passenger cars.

    Your right , it has totally wrecked the performance car world… I mean, people used to pay stupid money for exotic supercars because they were sooo fast. Because nothing else could deliver that level of performance for the money. Now the model s plaid comes along and decimates basically EVERYTHING, regardless of price… It’s ridiculous!

      Well, put a powerful electric motor or 2 or 3 or 4 and all wheel drive and no doubt you will have something that is very torquey and powerful. This can be done on many cars, not just the Plaid.
      Give it some time and you will see more competition and hopefully dethrone Tesla and make the Plaid just another forgettable name. Tesla does not make reliable vehicles. Their repair services suck.

    you've echoed everything I have been saying to my friends. I have a 2022 plaid. the fastest car I have owned before this was a 2016 M6 hellcat. the plaid is the only car I can say that it has unusable power on the street. you come up so fast on traffic and other people have no clue you're moving that fast.
    most people have an idea of how fast they can react to oncoming traffic, this completely negates that thought. it truly is unusable. I love it, but it really is dangerous. I keep it in sport mode most of the time cause my mind can deal with that speed. it really is incredible.
    I love a big supercharged V8, I'll always love dodge for what they did with the horsepower wars, but this tesla is my forever car, yes there will be faster cars but for the street it really is unusable. did I mention it uses no gas?

    You forgot to tell everyone the best part about the Plaid. My cost to drive my Plaid everyday for a month is only about $22-$28. I charge at home for a few hours every 2 or 3 nights. I drive the same mileage that was taking 2 tanks of gas a month in my Nissan Maxima. That's a savings of about $100 a month. A lot more fun and cost effective than a Nissan. Also, no motor oil to change.

    • @petermontgomery7323
      @petermontgomery7323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the narrative of daily cost is less… but what about upfront cost? You’d have to keep that plaid for 67 years, 5 months and 2 days (probably more actually) to make up the actual difference of $140k for the plaid vs $35k-$40k for a fully decked maxima…
      I’ll stick with my “affordable” scat pack that would take me 20 years in gas and cost of car to match just the price of the plaid… and people just don’t keep cars that long.

    The Plaids RULE the streets around here (NorCal). To beat one I figure you'd need to be able to run deep into the 8 second range to compensate for the traction you won't have on the street. There just aren't many cars that run low 9s at the track with VHT and burnouts that can get the same traction on a grooved greasy street. The guys in exotics around here avoid lining up next to Plaids at stoplights like the plague.

This car feels like a sanctuary every time I plant myself into the driver's seat and take it for a spin. To top it off it's quicker than all of the Super ICE cars in my 1970 high school parking lot including the Vets, SS396s, 442s, Duster340s, Daytonas & SuperBs. The Tesla Model S Plaid does have a great top speed but thats not the biggest reason to love this car. I'll help you: 1) It accelerates quicker than any other production car in the world including any Porsche, Lamborghini, or Bugatti. 2) It is the safest car in the world from crash testing showing it has lower probability of injury than other car brands and that includes Volvo. 3) More efficient in energy consumption than a Toyota Prius. 4) Contains the best software of any car. 5) It has the most advanced driver assist technology of any car you can buy to the point now with latest version of FSD beta package that you virtually have the equivalent of a "Chauffeur Mode" (still with supervision of course but getting impressively good). 6) Carries 5 passengers and has more cargo carrying capacity than any other sedan in its class.
      The engineering to pull off making a car that is the best in all these categories while costing in the low 6 figures is an insanely unlikely accomplishment for any company and yet Tesla pulled it off convincingly. This car has the entire car industry rethinking their path forward. I think a car like that has a lot to love! Regarding looks of the car, I think it looks amazing but recognize to each there own taste.

    I just sold my Turbocharged AC Cobra making 1130rwhp and over 1200rwtq. The car was 2216 pounds. On paper the Cobra should whip the Plaid every time. In reality, it may take me 8 or 9 runs to keep up with it. I found myself working on the car all the time and it was not very comfortable to drive. It did get way more attention than the Plaid. In the end, I kept the Plaid and sold the Cobra. With almost no tire spin, the Plaid is way safer to drive at higher speeds. Tesla usually sends us over the air updates to increase power and performance. I'm sure the car will continue to get faster over time. Also, I get to enjoy driving the car on the weekends instead of working on it.

      FALSE , CA is lacking BATTERY Grid storage and PGE even sells EXCESS power to other States when it Overproduces RENEWABLE energy , if we had 25% inventment in GRID battery alone , CA would have a SAFER and more RELIABLE Gird. CA ISO is now even 97% Renewable in 2022. still lacks Adequite Grid battery.
      the Problem can be Partially alleviated by SOLAR car parks w/ Battery and Superchargers w/ Battery like TESLA has been Doing for a DECADE now. Business can Benefit from MEGAPACK battery storage as well , Charging on Super Off Peak energy then Discharging , even Better combined w/ SOLAR.
