This brings back some horrible memories for me I always helped my grandpa on his farm and the same kind of accident happened to him he survived but was paralyzed that day was the worst day of my life I was 14 at the time I am so glad that you are doing better
Started wearing my sear belt after some one told me that I would not feel the fatigue as bad. Which is very true it really works. But was really great full when I collided with a industrial loader at about 25 miles an hour I still believe having my seatbelt on saved lives. Not just mine but i hit a small car head on with 4 people in. And just being able to control the brakes saved them. So please you are still here and getting better stay safe. God was with you on that day! Hearing you tell your story brought back a similar experience I had in a wheel loader lugging gravel from the crusher the the stock pile, I blew a hose on the bucket cylinder going wide open in high gear, 20 to 25mph and I had the loader arms up just high enough that at first the bucket teeth were a foot off the ground when it dumped the 6 yards of gravel but after driving over that new found jump at that speed I doubt 60,000 got completely airborne but when it land the bucket teeth dig in the ground so hard I instantly stoped and it ripped/snapped the cylinder rod in two. The front glass was covered in oil and I went for that wild ride and couldn’t see a thing until I came to a dead stop and realized the window was gone, lol. I had my lap belt on but it came unlatched and I had a hell of a sore gut and bruises on my thighs from the wheel and column and a real sore spot on my chest from the “suicide knob” . There isn’t as much room in the cab of an early 90’s era 966 cab to bounce around as in that combine of yours and as bad as I thought my accident was I have been through worse things then that by far where I accepted that it was my time to go only to have felt the hand of god decide to give me another day and it’s a powerful thing!
Had a similar incident in a 988h at my old job. Had a 15yd coal bucket on it. Nobody was ejected, but splattered up against the glass and windows pretty good.
My grandfather was killed in a freak farming accident. He was killed/crushed between a harvester and a tractor and he died immediately. Cherish every moment with your loved ones, hug them, and never forget to tell them how much you love them because it may be the last time they hear those words.

Thank you for making this video about safety. Too many people trust in someone else to keep them safe. We had operators in end loaders and forklifts go through windshields when they were crossing railroad tracks and got caught. As the saying goes, buckle up or eat glass.

My brother learned that lesson in his truck to he rolled his truck 3 times with his windows down and did not fly out and now he always wears his seatbelt, thank god your safe
Thank god you are okay. I'm 14 years old and I do a lot of work on the farm. I do tillage, grain carting, and all sorts of things. I have never once thought about putting the seat belts on in the tractor. After all, they dont go very fast and they are massive. Although after seeing what could have happened, I might think again next time I hop in a tractor. You got yourself a new sub, and stay safe out there. Equipment can be replaced, but you can't.
I know how bad bruised ribs hurt so I can imagine how much pain you're in. Hurts to just breathe and every heartbeat can be felt. By the grace of God you were saved. Glad you weren't killed. Watching your last video and it pulled this one back up for me to watch. I remember seeing someone asking for prayers for you in a farming group I was in on Facebook, and that’s how I found out about the accident and you guys on TH-cam. Since then I have watched a good portion of your videos and love the content. My uncle was in a farm accident spring of 2022, got thrown off a cord 3610 and ran over by the tractor. The disc mower barely missed him. He lives to tell the tale and gives god every bit of glory. We are hoping to piece a video about it together to hopefully spread gods grace as well as safety on farm equipment as you did with this video.
A guy down here in Florida by me was pulling a grain cart and hit a pivot track and got thrown out the door and almost ran over then the tractor ran wide open in a circle around the man and the combine operator whom tried to drag the guy to safety but they couldnt get out of the circle and finally the tractor hit another track and changed course and struck a tree that broke the tractor in half, brand new Case, total lose. I wasnt there but that blew my mind and now your story too this same year plus others I'm sure but it sure has me thinking about my disregard for safety at times. I'm glad the three of y'all are alive today, God has a plan!

You are a lucky man! People don't think 20 mph can put a lot of force on your body. It does. The farmer that rented our farm bought three brand new John Deere 8400's back in 1997 when they first came out. One of his farmhands was driving it at road speed down the highway. the transmission just locked up. 25 to 0 almost instantly. It threw the driver into the windshield and steering wheel. He broke several ribs, and got smacked around pretty good. It went back to Deere and they could not find any issues and returned it. Did it again a month later but he wore his belt that time. He kept them for one year after JD didn't solve the issue to his satisfaction. He ending up with 3 CaseIH 8950's the following season and never went back to Deere..
John deere techs are absolutely worthless, we send our john deeres to the shops at least once a year at this point for overheating and transmission issues (it shows a light and turns off the tractor but never tells you the problem) and every time they send them back saying “nothing is wrong” and charge us $1000. Next thing you know the buzzer goes off driving it home. Another story is when our hay conditioner started making horrid sounds so we sent it in. A week goes by and they call us saying once again “nothing is wrong” despite it sounding like someone dragging a car upside down on the highway. At that point i knew not only john deere as a corporation was scummy, their local dealers were inept. Never buying a deere again

Thank God you are ok. It's amazing a split second can change your life forever. Yesterday we buried a neighbor who lost his life in a grain cart accident. He was 41 and left behind a wife and 2 little boys under 3. Please everyone take the time to be safe and aware everyday.
I was watching where you went and picked up the harvester and had to come back to see what happened as you was talking about what happened. I know a farmer is always in a hurry to get stuff done but in the end it's not worth a life. Glad to see your ok and your back out there at it again. A little story that actually just happened about two months ago my uncle was brush hogging and he had a mini stroke and passed out while he was running the tractor. He went through three fences and came to a stop when he hit a barn. He was lucky he didn't fall off or at the original place he usually does as the is a bluff straight drop at one of the fields he brush hogs. I thank the Lord everyday that he is ok and made it back home. This is unbelievable man. The two wires that drive it broke connection and stopped..... I know it's more sensor's and what not but they should be like another safety Incase something like this happens to other farmers and I'm sure it has bit like a sensor in the seat or a break away or something. As y'all said the Lord or an angel was definitely looking over you that day.

Glad to see you were able to walk away from that accident. The oil and gas industry require trip plans which entails driving a route and noting any hazards before moving any heavy equipment. A lot of stuff can change on a road surface from the time you plant until you harvest as evidenced in your video. Time is always of the essence in your industry but a few minutes driving your planned routes in a personal vehicle can save your life and your equipment. Thank you for posting it and I hope your season ends on a better note.

Scary stuff. Years ago, when I was a teen, I worked on my uncle's farm for a few busy seasons. During seeding and harvest time it was full speed ahead, both mentally and physically. Looking back now, there were lots of shortcuts that went against safe practices trying to get the job done. Im retired now after working a totally different career for a company that was super conscious about safety. I am a very safety aware now. It appears you've been given another chance at life. Good on you for telling your story. You just may safe someone a serious accident. Let's be careful!

Not quite the same but when I was a kid our neighbor was coming down the road in his 2388, and the corn head came off going over the bridge. Thankfully he had slowed for the bridge and stopped in time. I was watching from the window and I heard it slam down clear as day, and he was probably a good quarter mile away. Glad you made it out brother, someone was watching over you very closely.
Lucky man . I had an accident about 10 years ago when bringing my combine back home and a ditch had been dug across the road and not marked . I got really banged up in the cab , how I didn’t go through the wind screen is beyond me . The machine caught fire , battery shorted , blew out back tyre . Was an expensive accident but I count myself lucky, I always wear my belt when I’m on a road now.

Personally I think god takes our mistakes and turns them Into blessings. I know he did in my situation! Gods plans are much bigger than ours. We just need to listen! God loves us more than we love ourselves!
I used to work with a combine mechanic, who never used the safeties, when working under the headers. He had one in the shop,working under it, and went to get some parts. He was no more than five feet away, when a hose broke and the header crashed to the ground. We finally made a believer out of him.
I am not a religious person, but I have seen the accidents with agriculture machines. And it almost always ends ugly. But I say "amen" to your words, safe work is never by accident. Peace bro.
Heavy equipment operator here. I've nearly put myself through the windshield on a 963 doing less than 5 mph when I broke over an edge harder than expected, I now wear my seatbelt all the time

I never used to wear a seatbelt when driving equipment, but after seeing this, I definitely will in the future, especially when transporting, if I ever get the chance to run a tractor or combine again! Over 30 yrs. ago I caught a guide wire with an 8440. I turned around at end of an end row and re-entered field. Knowing wire was there, I crept under, had enough clearance over cab and stack so I crept forward a few more feet thinking I was good, unbeknownst to me the rain cap snagged and pulled stack into cab breaking window. I had to get glass taken out of an eye, it's a reminder of something minor can bite you in the ass. ROPS and FOPS are one of the best things added to machinery over the years along with guards.

2 years ago, my then 7 year old grandson came out to help me run the grain cart. As soon as we got in our seats, he said "Grandpa, put your seatbelt on". From the mouths of babes.
A couple years back in Dresden Tn. I guy I know who raises cattle was checking on his cows and he kept hearing a combine running wide open. Wasn't hearing any other sound of it shelling or going anywhere just running wide open. Thought it was odd after several minutes. Drove his truck down the pasture and then he could hear a guy yelling for help. Ran over to the combine and their was a guy who was dangling underneath the corn head. He had slipped off the head while the combine was running wide open and head still engaged. Slipped off the head or feederhouse and the rollers had grabbed his pants. Friend said he was holding on for dear life and was solid wet from sweat. He run to the cab and shut the head off. He still had to go to the hospital but if he had lost his grip those rollers and chain would have sucked him in. I've been on the corn head hundreds of times but never with the head still engaged. It gets super slick.
I hope everything works out for you. Farming is a dangerous job and yes I've done the same as you cutting corners. Jumping over running PTO shafts no seatbelts ever, but hearing your story is going to change things around the farm. Equipment can be replaced but you my friend are not replaceable. A few years ago, a Gleaner combine was cutting wheat in the Gossel Kansas area, when it hits gulley hidden in by the wheat. The impact caused the 10 year grand daughter who was riding in the cab with her grand father to be ejected through the front wind shield, and into the operating header. She did not survive.
Your guardian angel was sure busy that day. Am so glad that you survived this. Make sure you have your new combine blessed before you use it. Blessings to you and yours.

Good you're ok, I saw the pictures on Facebook about the accident and I just couldn't think of how that combine stopped like it did, though maybe there was a safety switch on the seat that killed it when your weight came off of it. But to have just those two wires cut wow!!

The only cut wires are the ones that kept the combine from running you over are a miracle! The man upstairs said it simply wasn't your day to go.

Since then I have watched a good portion of your videos and love the content. My uncle was in a farm accident spring of 2022, got thrown off a cord 3610 and ran over by the tractor. The disc mower barely missed him. He lives to tell the tale and gives god every bit of glory. We are hoping to piece a video about it together to hopefully spread gods grace as well as safety on farm equipment as you did with this video.

A guy down here in Florida by me was pulling a grain cart and hit a pivot track and got thrown out the door and almost ran over then the tractor ran wide open in a circle around the man and the combine operator whom tried to drag the guy to safety but they couldnt get out of the circle and finally the tractor hit another track and changed course and struck a tree that broke the tractor in half, brand new Case, total lose. I wasnt there but that blew my mind and now your story too this same year plus others I'm sure but it sure has me thinking about my disregard for safety at times. I'm glad the three of y'all are alive today, God has a plan!

You are a lucky man! People don't think 20 mph can put a lot of force on your body. It does. The farmer that rented our farm bought three brand new John Deere 8400's back in 1997 when they first came out. One of his farmhands was driving it at road speed down the highway. the transmission just locked up. 25 to 0 almost instantly. It threw the driver into the windshield and steering wheel. He broke several ribs, and got smacked around pretty good. It went back to Deere and they could not find any issues and returned it. Did it again a month later but he wore his belt that time. He kept them for one year after JD didn't solve the issue to his satisfaction. He ending up with 3 CaseIH 8950's the following season and never went back to Deere..
John deere techs are absolutely worthless, we send our john deeres to the shops at least once a year at this point for overheating and transmission issues (it shows a light and turns off the tractor but never tells you the problem) and every time they send them back saying “nothing is wrong” and charge us $1000. Next thing you know the buzzer goes off driving it home. Another story is when our hay conditioner started making horrid sounds so we sent it in. A week goes by and they call us saying once again “nothing is wrong” despite it sounding like someone dragging a car upside down on the highway. At that point i knew not only john deere as a corporation was scummy, their local dealers were inept. Never buying a deere again

Thank God you are ok. It's amazing a split second can change your life forever. Yesterday we buried a neighbor who lost his life in a grain cart accident. He was 41 and left behind a wife and 2 little boys under 3. Please everyone take the time to be safe and aware everyday.
I was watching where you went and picked up the harvester and had to come back to see what happened as you was talking about what happened. I know a farmer is always in a hurry to get stuff done but in the end it's not worth a life. Glad to see your ok and your back out there at it again. A little story that actually just happened about two months ago my uncle was brush hogging and he had a mini stroke and passed out while he was running the tractor. He went through three fences and came to a stop when he hit a barn. He was lucky he didn't fall off or at the original place he usually does as the is a bluff straight drop at one of the fields he brush hogs. I thank the Lord everyday that he is ok and made it back home. This is unbelievable man. The two wires that drive it broke connection and stopped..... I know it's more sensor's and what not but they should be like another safety Incase something like this happens to other farmers and I'm sure it has bit like a sensor in the seat or a break away or something. As y'all said the Lord or an angel was definitely looking over you that day.

The oil and gas industry require trip plans which entails driving a route and noting any hazards before moving any heavy equipment.
A lot of stuff can change on a road surface from the time you plant until you harvest as evidenced in your video.
Time is always of the essence in your industry but a few minutes driving your planned routes in a personal vehicle can save your life and your equipment.

Trust me I’m very familiar with that road. But just because you’re familiar doesn’t mean that you can’t make mistakes and I made several that day

Scary stuff. Years ago, when I was a teen, I worked on my uncle's farm for a few busy seasons. During seeding and harvest time it was full speed ahead, both mentally and physically. Looking back now, there were lots of shortcuts that went against safe practices trying to get the job done.
Im retired now after working a totally different career for a company that was super conscious about safety. I am a very safety aware now.
It appears you've been given another chance at life. Good on you for telling your story. You just may safe someone a serious accident.

Not quite the same but when I was a kid our neighbor was coming down the road in his 2388, and the corn head came off going over the bridge. Thankfully he had slowed for the bridge and stopped in time. I was watching from the window and I heard it slam down clear as day, and he was probably a good quarter mile away. Glad you made it out brother, someone was watching over you very closely.
Lucky man . I had an accident about 10 years ago when bringing my combine back home and a ditch had been dug across the road and not marked . I got really banged up in the cab , how I didn’t go through the wind screen is beyond me . The machine caught fire , battery shorted , blew out back tyre . Was an expensive accident but I count myself lucky, I always wear my belt when I’m on a road now.

The header should not be able to come off combine. Either a design problem or owner did not secure properly. Glad you are ok,

Why did his god set up the conditions for this accident? Was he being punished for poor maintenance? If so, why did god prevent him from paying attention. Everything happens for a reason.....they say.
god ain’t do shit, old mate was holding onto the controls while bouncing around, which in turn ripped the wires and sent him through the windshield

I used to work with a combine mechanic, who never used the safeties, when working under the headers. He had one in the shop,working under it, and went to get some parts. He was no more than five feet away, when a hose broke and the header crashed to the ground. We finally made a believer out of him.
I am not a religious person, but I have seen the accidents with agriculture machines. And it almost always ends ugly.
But I say "amen" to your words, safe work is never by accident.

Heavy equipment operator here. I've nearly put myself through the windshield on a 963 doing less than 5 mph when I broke over an edge harder than expected, I now wear my seatbelt all the time
Wow, what an incredible story of survival and faith! I grew up on a farm and understand the risks; like you said, sometimes there are just things you don't think of ahead of time. I never used to wear a seatbelt when driving equipment, but after seeing this, I definitely will in the future, especially when transporting, if I ever get the chance to run a tractor or combine again! Over 30 yrs. ago I caught a guide wire with an 8440. I turned around at end of an end row and re-entered field. Knowing wire was there, I crept under, had enough clearance over cab and stack so I crept forward a few more feet thinking I was good, unbeknownst to me the rain cap snagged and pulled stack into cab breaking window. I had to get glass taken out of an eye, it's a reminder of something minor can bite you in the ass.
ROPS and FOPS are one of the best things added to machinery over the years along with guards.

2 years ago, my then 7 year old grandson came out to help me run the grain cart. As soon as we got in our seats, he said "Grandpa, put your seatbelt on". From the mouths of babes.
First time watching video's the farmer actually told you about crop prices, and the impact of weather on crops. Interesting and entertaining.
A couple years back in Dresden Tn. I guy I know who raises cattle was checking on his cows and he kept hearing a combine running wide open. Wasn't hearing any other sound of it shelling or going anywhere just running wide open. Thought it was odd after several minutes. Drove his truck down the pasture and then he could hear a guy yelling for help. Ran over to the combine and their was a guy who was dangling underneath the corn head. He had slipped off the head while the combine was running wide open and head still engaged. Slipped off the head or feederhouse and the rollers had grabbed his pants. Friend said he was holding on for dear life and was solid wet from sweat. He run to the cab and shut the head off. He still had to go to the hospital but if he had lost his grip those rollers and chain would have sucked him in. I've been on the corn head hundreds of times but never with the head still engaged. It gets super slick.

I hope everything works out for you. Farming is a dangerous job and yes I've done the same as you cutting corners. Jumping over running PTO shafts no seatbelts ever, but hearing your story is going to change things around the farm. Equipment can be replaced but you my friend are not replaceable. A few years ago, a Gleaner combine was cutting wheat in the Gossel Kansas area, when it hits gulley hidden in by the wheat. The impact caused the 10 year grand daughter who was riding in the cab with her grand father to be ejected through the front wind shield, and into the operating header.
She did not survive.
Equipment can be replaced you can not. Glad you are safe.
Your guardian angel was sure busy that day. Am so glad that you survived this. Make sure you have your new combine blessed before you use it. Blessings to you and yours.

Good you're ok, I saw the pictures on Facebook about the accident and I just couldn't think of how that combine stopped like it did, though maybe there was a safety switch on the seat that killed it when your weight came off of it. But to have just those two wires cut wow!!
Dave Reynolds there is a safety switch on the seat but it only stops the feeder running after you leave the seat for 5 seconds.
