Best combine we’ve ever owned, Our New Fendt Ideal 9

  • Welcome to the first day of wheat harvest with our brand new Fendt Ideal 9 combine! We are beyond excited to kick off the season with this game-changing piece of machinery. Our previous combine could barely manage 50 acres a day on a good day, but with the Fendt Ideal 9, we’re now hitting an incredible 150 to 200 acres daily! The efficiency and power of this combine are on a whole new level.
    One of the most impressive improvements is the grain loss-or lack thereof. With our old combine, we’d see so much wheat left on the ground, it almost looked like we had planted a new crop. But with the Fendt, finding a kernel on the ground is nearly impossible. This machine is a true game-changer for our farm, and we can’t wait to share this harvest journey with you.
    Don’t forget to hit that like button and subscribe to follow along with us this season!

    That's quite a way from the combine I used to walk alongside and watch as a kid. It was a Massey-Harris, and I believe it was an 8-foot gate on the front; when they changed it and got a new one that was a 12-foot gate we were amazed. The first one must have been about 1956 or 58. No cab, the driver used to be thickly coated in dust by the end of the day if the weather had been dry and dusty. It would break down 3 or 4 times on a bad day, with the drum getting clogged or the walkers not shifting the straw out fast enough or the intake spirals or elevator belt getting clogged. The skill demanded of the driver, trying to cut the stalks as low as possible when the table height had to be set by hand and eye, was considerable. In those days the straw, when baled, was a valuable by-product and they sold all of it, especially the long wheat-straw. Later, you couldn't get decent money for it and they's burn it off where it lay in the fields, much to the annoyance of housewives in nearby towns who had washing out on the line.
    Most of our local farmers now seem to use Claas, but this is the UK, and they are smaller than that beast. But then, fields are MUCH smaller, and you have to move the things along public roads, through little winding country lanes; a machine that size would be totally impractical. I'd still like to see one working, close-up, but I don't imagine it would be allowed. As a kid, I used to step up on the bottom step and get a ride; I had to get off if the foreman came around, but otherwise they trusted me to keep out of the way. The golden days of high summer and childhood.

      You won't be alone, will you ? Isolation from competiton with global competitors slowly diminishes any edge regular buyers think you have, and Peterbilt and Kenworth are facing the same issues. Many of these machines are much more efficient, more economical to operate and service, more comfortable, etc .... European operators have a legal mandate to 'right to service', something that JD continue to deny their American customers. Sadly, the window for a sea change in improvement for operators may soon close with the tariff threats from the incoming Administration in Washington. Watch this space .....? Good luck with your future options, may you have more than one or two !

    I feel like a lot of people commenting here only come in touch with farming when they start up their PC and start playing farming simulator, a lot of these people do not understand that this is a business which is relying on how much money goes in and out. I'm really glad you and your family are happy about the purchase even though I feel like some people here are trying to ruin the fun for you 🙃. I'm just glad you've gotten one heck of a good price on the machine it seems and that it runs good, as it is supposed to! I would like to add, I think a 40ft header is alright when u guys average around 120bu/ac cause those numbers are impressive for me, because to my knowledge farms in North America usually average way less! (It getting irrigated is a different topic to me though, due to the lowering of water lvls etc. but if the government allows you to do so, I'd do the same.) Also it seems like you got a good ACGO/Fendt dealer near you and also guys from Fendt who know how to set up a combine properly, I'm just a lil sad you couldn't get the Ideal Drive (Joystick) due to it being a demo machine, from what I've heard it's a different way of working and less exhausting. Anyways great machine! I hope you'll have a lot of fun, a great harvest, a cool fridge 🥶 (very important :D!!!) at any time and hopefully no breakdowns and just minor repairs in the next 12 years!

      There are some comments of people who use farming simulator, but I think a lot of the comments are just people wanting to learn more and as far as watering we use surface water, so we’re not draining the aquifer. And I agree a 40 foot header is just fine if we went with a bigger header we just have to go slower so it wouldn’t increase how much we can do. You have to have good dealer support in order to have any brand of machine. i’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I've always been interested in farming and been watching A few farming channels for 6-7 years. About a month ago I started playing Farming Sim 25 and it's been fun. I was looking at FS 25 videos and this one caught my eye because in the game I bought a used Massey Fergusson Ideal 8. I knew it was different from any MF combine I every seen and pretty advanced. I'm guessing Fendt and MF are working together. I had to look up the real MF Ideal 7,8 and 9 to see what size heads worked with them in real life. Seeing that this is actually built by Fendt makes sense. Of course I never heard of Fendt until I started playing the Sim and had to look them up to see if they were real or made up for the game. All I've ever seen was John Deere and Case really here in the US. Seems Fendt is moving into the US market as I've seen them being Demo'ed and bought on several farming channels.

    Also available in red. And possibly a bit cheaper because of it. A question was asked about how you kill the crop. You answered that you stop irrigating, but I suggest that this answer is not quite correct. The crop is not killed and grain crops do not need to be. Grains are all members of the grasses or gramineae and are annuals. The seed grows into a plant that then produces a flower(s) of sorts that then becomes the head containing new seed/grain. Upon completion of filling those seeds, the plant dies off by itself and turns yellow. If you carried on watering, it would still do that. No intervention is required, unlike with Oil Seed Rape/Canola that needs spraying off or swathing first. (Cut and left in a swath to dry out before it is threshed. But that is done to ripen the seeds off evenly as the plants are very tall and the seeds at the top ripen well before the lower placed seed pods are. Similarly potatoes are sometimes sprayed off. This is done where the grower has a contract to supply potatoes of a certain size, so when they reach that size, they are sprayed off and left to let the skin set. If not sprayed, they will carry on growing untill the cold weather comes.

    • @RockyMountainFarmer
      @RockyMountainFarmer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was wondering the same thing. I’m not really sure. I’m sure there is a reason. I know they make an all wheel drive version so maybe it would have traction to get unstuck if you got stuck.

    • @jamesw5607
      @jamesw5607 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its because the rear tires are a rolling tire(non powered). For a rolling tire, a tractor tire mounted backwards turns in mud better that way. Because the force "drags" the tire, versus "pulling" with a drive tire. This allows you to maintain steering in muddy conditions.
