go to effects browser on the bottom right side of fcpx and search for it, it's right there in the video. Watch it again and follow the steps. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Not useful using this method as it affects highs and shadows. It’s better to use a luma key filter (also free) and push the slider to the highlights. Then add in some Gaussian blur at 2%.
