  • In Episode 52 of our Ultimate World Cruise, join BZ Travel as we delve into the rich history and vibrant culture of Tianjin, China's fourth largest city. Known for its monumental port and as a vital manufacturing hub, Tianjin offers a unique blend of traditional Chinese heritage and modern urban development.
Our journey in Tianjin unfolds with a visit to the historic Shi Family Mansion, an architectural marvel built in the 1870s. This preserved estate once belonged to one of Tianjin’s most influential families, who thrived on grain trading and banking along the Grand Canal. Today, the mansion serves as a museum, showcasing exquisite brick and wood carvings, and giving us a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of China's aristocratic merchants.
The contrast between the ancient and the contemporary is stark, reflecting the city’s role in bridging China’s past with its future.
Our tour concludes in the bustling Ancient Cultural Street, a vibrant marketplace where the spirit of Tianjin’s rich history and the warmth of its people are palpable.
Join us for this half-day exploration before we set sail, and experience the essence of Tianjin, a city that beautifully encapsulates the spirit of old and new China.

I believe this might be the Qiao Family Compound. Recognized it from the film "Raise the Red Lantern". Great movie. It's all subtitles but so engrossing you forget that after awhile. A Chinese colleague recommended it to me. What a great place to visit!

The traditional furniture in the ancient houses looked so beautifully crafted. Shame that you didn't have more time to explore. Another wonderful video! Thank you 😀👍

It's great to see my hometown after having left for almost 10 yrs now. The gloomy weather looks legit 😄 and the traffic jams and the opportunist driver(s) in it, cars parked at the roadside pretending bicyclists don't exist. Not a bad choice to go in a tour group, as it's easy to get lost even for people from other cities in the same country; it'd probably take a week to just familiarize with the public transportation.

I love your videos. I’ve watched almost all of them. I would also like to see more videos of life on the ship. I imagine the Dynamics have changed over the course of the cruise.
