- Join BZ Travel in Episode 55 of our Ultimate World Cruise as we attempt to conquer Tokyo, the largest metropolitan area in the world, in just one day. From the bustling streets of Shibuya to the Senso-ji Temple, experience the vibrant contrasts that define this iconic city.
As we disembark in nearby Yokohama, we're immediately struck by the innovative architecture of the cruise terminal, featuring wooden decks and a community-friendly rooftop. Our journey into Tokyo begins with a tram ride, introducing us to the city's efficient and extensive metro system, connecting us swiftly from Yokohama to the heart of Tokyo.
One of our first stops is the famed Shibuya Crossing, known as the world’s busiest pedestrian intersection. Here, up to 3,000 people scramble across at peak times, illustrating the dynamic pace of life in Tokyo. The energy here is palpable, and the crossing serves as a gateway to explore major landmarks and bustling commercial areas nearby.
We also delve into Tokyo's culinary scene, from traditional noodle shops to the ubiquitous vending machines that offer everything from snacks to personal items, showcasing Tokyo's blend of tradition and cutting-edge technology.
Our day is packed with cultural immersion, from the high-tech surroundings of Shibuya to the historical and spiritual ambiance of Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, one of Tokyo's oldest and most significant temples. This whirlwind tour not only highlights Tokyo's top attractions but also its hidden gems, providing a comprehensive glimpse into the city's soul.

Thanks to your husband. That song will be stuck in my head all night. Stay safe.
I would definately pay to play with a puppy. Tokyo looks more amazing through your videos than many travel shows. Another wonderful day out.
❤ your favourite Aussie follower 🦘
I like temple
I love how you guys travel so independently. When my hubby and I cruse that is what we prefer ❤
It's great to hear you guys like doing your own thing on cruises too. It really makes the trip more personal and fun, doesn't it? Thanks for the love and happy travels to you and your hubby!
Thanks 🎊
You Two are doing a wonderful job with your videos! I am enjoying them immensely! Especially the places I went when in the Navy! ❤John T
Your ease at navigating the streets of Japan is impressive. I envy your spirit of adventure. Thank you for another fantastic vlog.
Thanks so much! Navigating new streets is always an adventure, and Japan makes it both fun and challenging. Really glad you enjoyed the vlog.
You're our kind of travelers... skip the ship exercursions and explore on your own.
You've got it right! There's something special about charting your own course. Hopping on the bus does sound tempting sometimes. It's all about making those memories while we're still spry enough to enjoy them to the fullest!
Fascinating. Love seeing what clothes the young Japanese girls wear, thought how wonderful to see them also in kimonos… then you got to the store when they can rent one for the day 😂 It’s lovely to see how clean the streets are even if very busy. A totally different culture.
Nice city 😍 Thank you for sharing 😊
Great video (again). The transition from temple to shopping was brilliant. Always happy to see Zarko get beer. 🎉 . You get so much done in a day but the pieces don't feel rushed. I feel very much at ease with you as my proxy. Such a great team you are. Cheers
Thanks for the awesome feedback! We really try to make each piece flow smoothly.
Glad you found your own niche in Tokyo! Good going! Lisa 👍🦁
Thanks, again Lisa! We are glad you're enjoying the journey with us! 👍🦁
Lots of cities have cat and dog cafés now because many apartments don't allow pets! Great fun! Loved this video so much!😃👍
Little oases of furry joy!
You two are looking great
Thanks a bunch! We’re just out here trying to soak up as much of the World as we can. Glad you're enjoying the journey with us! Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
Woohoo! Love your videos! I’ve been going back and watching older videos. Just finished Bonaire. 😊
All those people! I agree that Yokohama looks much nicer than Tokyo - it's hard to comprehend a city that enormous and sprawling - and that's coming from London! This is such an amazing tour - I have been following you since the very start and can't believe a) how much you've done and b) how much is still to come!
Thanks for sticking with us from the start-it’s been quite the ride, hasn't it? Glad you're enjoying the journey!
@@bztravel its been fantastic - I'm so glad you stuck with doing the videos as I look forward to them now!
Most of Tokyo is not crowded…except the major train stations and tourist spots. It’s because you only had one day there you felt it was super crowded.
"We could buy some Yokohama tires..." that made me laugh. You are very daring with the food. We would have gone where the tourists had the English menus.
We can have English menu at home. Next time you are in a new country just try something unfamiliar, experience something unknown and you will never look at travel anymore the same.
The “arcade” that you saw around timestamp 5:20 was a Pachinko parlor (closest USA equivalent would be Las Vegas slot machines). There are separate arcade chains in Japan such as “Round 1” that are facilities more like what you would associate arcades with in the USA (Pac-Man, Mario Kart, Dance Dance Revolution, etc).
Thanks for the info! Definitely something to check out more next time. Appreciate the insight!
Way too crowded for my liking. I would liked to have seen some of the sights outside the crowded city. I really enjoy watching your videos thanks for sharing them .
You're right, the crowds can be a bit much. The limited time from a cruise stop does restrict how deep you can dive into a place. We try to squeeze in as much as we can. Thanks for sticking with us and enjoying the videos despite the rush! We appreciate your support.
Bit too busy there for us
Lines everywhere
How’s the beer tour going?
End of cruise list all the Beers you’ve had and rate top ones perhaps?
Yeah, some places can really test your patience with those endless lines! As for the beer tour, it's going as smoothly as a well-poured pint.
This is giving me vibes of when we visited the Vatican. It was SO overwhelmingly crowded.😱 I'm not usually bothered by crowds but was panicked to get out of the intake area where you purchase tickets. How people live like this every day is beyond my capacity. Very interesting!!! Really enjoying the snippets of each culture you visit. 💗 Some ports definitely needed an overnight!!!
That sounds like an intense experience at the Vatican! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us, and for following along on our journey!
