As a ballerina who isn’t as skinny or perfect as my classmates you’re a huge inspiration and inspired me to keep trying and now I’m going to get my first pair of pointe shoes next week
i feel exactly the same- im 13 and weigh 150 lbs and it is kinda uncomfortable to be one of the biggest ppl in my class. But I'm glad you stuck with it!
You made me cry with happiness. I stopped dancing because of the weight a long time ago. For the first time I felt happy watching a video dedicated to ballet. Thanks
You’re so graceful and beautiful. I wish I stayed dancing while I was young. I was really thin but since my depression I gained a bit of weight. You’re such an inspiration for girls who aren’t a size 0. I wish you happiness for what you love to do
This woman is the proof that there are no stereotypes to anything! Congratulations graceful ballerina, you are a wonderful reason for making everyone not stop dreaming!
This is the reason why i like plus size ballet dancer in the ballet community, whats amazing in them is they can stand on pointe even though they're too heavy but thats the greatest skills of them and they also had a ballet dancing skills😍
You inspire me so much I want to do ballet but I'm also plus size so i'm scared tp save up the money to get what I need for the outfit and classes because I don't want to waste money on stuff that's just going to break me down from people saying rude stuff about me but this inspires be to do what I have a passion for and what I want to do its going to take awhile before I have enough money to do so i'm only 14 so its gonna be awhime but coninue being amazing and a inserpation to people
Pinkeypie1324 AJ in the world of ballet, i would be considered fat, and ive been dancing since i was 2. don’t worry about your size when you start out, if youre too big, you’ll lose it with the right diet and hard work. and if someone makes fun of you, let that push you to work harder.
And one thing I’ve noticed that we “fatter” people have over the skinnier dancers Our arms curve a lot more and give much more grateful appearances while the skinnier ones arms look more stick like and don’t have a lot of curve to them they’re just very straight and don’t really bend at the elbow. Oh and of course we have a boobs.
A leotard, tights, and ballet shoes aren’t incredibly expensive if you know where to look (you will be laughed out of class if you show up in a tutu). Often you can find a YMCA or rec center that will offer ballet for lower costs. You can still do it! I suggest discount dance. Get a black leotard and salmon tights, that’s the most “professional “ and the most common colors. Find ballet shoes in person. New dancers often prefer full soles over split soles
I Just Love it, it's beautiful and proofs that you don't have to be slim and trained to do Ballet and Look good while doing it.💕 Sorry for my english 🙄
@@LRoseArts Exactly. This is a trained dancer. It takes more strength for her to produce this grace and beauty than it does for the girls with typical ballerina bodies. Brava!
This is absolutely beautiful, I wish I could do ballet, I used too when I was little, but my teacher told my mother that I couldn't Dance unless I lost weight, and keep in mind I was 9 with just baby fat, so my mother obviously freaked out, and took me out of ballet. I sure do miss it.
When I started ballet at fourteen, I was 110 pounds. My ballet teacher told me I had to lose twenty pounds to go on pointe! I refused and went on pointe anyway. I don't know your age, but you can always take up ballet again.
this s much more elegant and fascinating than watching the typical steroetype dance, those with a tad more weight tend to give of more Passion and Fire during their dances.
I love ballet, I took classes when I was young, I was en Pointe, and I loved everything about it. And then I was diagnosed with clinical depression. I can’t to any of the things I use to do and I want to get back to dance bad. I take lessons twice a week but have to take a break because I’ll have a panic attack. It’s absolute agony but I’m trying my best I guess
As someone with Depression and Anxiety myself - I'm proud of you. Don't let the Monsters stop you from what brings you Joy. Slow down, step a bit back - but don't let them stop you. Be proud of you!
ive been so sad because I'm not skinny like what people expect ballerinas to be and this made me so inspired. i was so scared my weight would hinder me from going en pointe
Makes me wish I didn't quit ballet. I left because I was ridiculed for being fat. I couldn't take the abuse anymore, no matter how well I danced, I wasn't skinny enough.
I use to do ballet as a kid...the best decision my grandparents ever made, I just hate that I stopped. Ever since I stopped I’ve wanted to start back, but I’m plus sized and I’m so scared
Seeing this makes me what to become a ballerina when I was a kid that’s all I wanted to be but thought I couldn’t because I’m big but now I think I will do it
Except it is. It’s not professional ballet, but everyone can dance with enough dedication and passion to the craft. She’s en pointe, she knows her steps, she can arabesque and pique turn. You wouldn’t tell someone they aren’t playing tennis just because they aren’t playing like Serena Williams.
I agree. We can't call a dancer a "ballerina" if she is limited to solo performances. An accomplished, fully trained ballerina performs as a soloist and as a partner. And this dancer can't perform in an actual ballet because she cannot be lifted by a partner. There is much discussion about size restrictions for ballerinas as though this is just some prejudice against plus women. There are male dancers to be considered. Even to lift a 140 pound dancer puts major strain on a partner' s spine and 1:44 to lift that much weight on a regular basis would be catastrophic. More discussion concerning the practical reasons for the general preference for dancers weighing less than about 125 pounds. Very great dancer named Edward Villela fractured a section of his backbone while lifting a partner weighing just 135 pounds. In ballet companies there are very serious reasons for size restrictions
@@ceceliaclarkeWell established by certain peoples standards in an art and sport that's evolving to the point even if people disagree they'll find it really is just their opinion. We can freelance, we can teach, we can model, and we can create our own companies now. So honestly, well established depends on what the dancer sets for themselves.
