@@TheNovemberRoseI am still really young, 13, and I started ballet when I was 4 and paused at 11 because I had to take exams for the last year of elementary school. As someone with a different body type than most ballerinas I've seen and someone who had a ballet teacher who would tell me she could see my lunch, I still plan to start again and pick up from where I left off. It's a really fun thing to do and I do think you should try to do it even if just for the experience and the story.
This proves that ballet shouldn't be about size. You need technique, talent, endurance, precision, etc. If you can look like you're a feather floating on air and wow the crowd with your dancing, masking the pain that's really there and making it look easy, you have everything it takes to be a ballerina.
I thoroughly disagree in every way about everything you said. Only the balance part is acceptable but only to fit individuals. Not, OMG, how is it even possible, wait until she is 40 and see what it did to her body, people. Don't normalize the freakish. Too much of that is already invading sanity.
@@fightme1791 I think we need to recalibrate the language we use to describe things as important or relevant at all and reevaluate if they actually are so that's sweet, bubye.
I thought so too I was curious tho why I heard some people laughing can they not appreciate her talent and grace and amazing performance instead? She was amazing and delightful to me Thank you beautiful ballerina😘😍😍
As a 'Ballet Voyeur', big girl, physically disabled, terrible dancer(unless vodka whispers I'm great), this is amazing and SO inspiring. Its not so much about her size, as it is knowing how STRONG she is. Ballet takes so much physical strength, grace and discipline Three things I severely lack. It is hands down the hardest dance to master. She is now my current idol. I have a similar body type, and I want to be as strong, graceful and admirable as she is. Thank you for posting. I'm glad I came across your channel.
Truth update: I could be strong, but I am the most graceless human on the planet, it feels. Unless I am say…at bar by myself, having 1 drink. Just…don’t speak to me, and I am full of grace. Being a big girl keeps the men away, so I can continue being graceful alone.😂
My whole life I've hated ballet because of what it represented in my head: oppression. I would always hear stories about instructors being very abusive, not only physically but psychologically too. Because of that reason I'd always felt this feeling of rejection towards the discipline. I'm 26 now and I've come to appreciate ballet, to the point I regret not having taken classes as a child. I'm contemplating trying it myself but I'm way too scared to do so. This video made me realize that while ballet can be elitist, it can also be very inclusive. Júlia, you nailed that performance. So much grace in every move, every intonation. Truly beautiful to watch.
I’m a dancer and have to say that I am impressed! Beautiful, graceful, stage presence, up on her box, beautiful lines, etc..I can go on and on. I love it!
Good Lord! Pointes are so hard when skinny. I can't imagine how harder it is when one has to lift extra weight. She is sooooo strong and beautiful and graceful. I'm melting in awe and admiration 😭👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I feel so happy watching this...when i was little I wanted to be a ballerina, but always got my dreams crushed because I wasn't 'the correct weight' and 'didnt have the right body' to be one...This makes me feel so empowered and confident in my dream now and this video and watching this beautiful woman dance and glide perfectly and i hope to be someone like her one day
If it werent the financial hurdle stopping me from pursuing ballet, it would have also been the body shaming from others. This is inspiring to never stop doing things I like because I'm fat (self identifying that way, cuz I'm taking that word back).
I always dreamed to do ballet but ive always been told im to fat to do ballet resently i started to get more and more videos of ballerinas on my feed and that little girl's dream came up ,i never had classes but i really wanna learn it so badly, this inspired me so much thanks alot

Never felt beautiful in my entire life. I was always chasing some number on the scale that i never got to. Watching this just makes me feel less disgusting I guess.
There are practical reasons why you don't see professional ballet dancers like this. 1. While she is graceful and has technique, she puts a lot of strain on her ankles and joints. She has her whole weight on the tips of her toes, so think what this would do to it, and she doesn't even do some of the more difficult moves. 2. You don't see her doing fouettes or jumping high, among other things. She does relatively simple choreography compared to what professional dancers need to do. 3. Who is going to lift her? In ballet, men lift women, often above their heads. It has to look effortless, not the way weight lifters do it in the Olympics. Then, male dancers are supposed to have enough energy to dance themselves, jump and land softly, something weight lifters cannot do.
@@yuh7359 it’s not about them being weak, in many circumstances the male dancer needs to lift the dancer in an effortless way and many of f the dancers are petite and weigh a lot less. Ballet itself is supposed to look and be elegant. And I’m not trying to downplay her skills and techniques cause she’s damn good, but unfortunately she wouldn’t make it big in the professional ballet world
I'm honestly surprised there aren't more plus sized ballerinas in 2024. You think by now we could've fixed that. Your movements are so poised and stunning. You make it seem effortless as well, and I know it is extremely difficult.

I‘m 23 and overweight and finally went to pole dancing classes, so you’ve got this! Just focus on learning the moves and having fun. We’re all going to be dead eventually, thick or thin, so who cares, really? Might as well learn ballet before then instead of letting fear of judgement stop you from trying something you’ve always wanted to do. You can also try it out with friends or at home with TH-cam first to build confidence before any real life lessons. And as a side note, some people I saw pole dancing were twice my size and dancing extremely gracefully on a pole. If they can do pole dancing, I am sure you can do ballet! 😁
