In short, LG screwed up the brilliant screen to body ratio of the G4. The S7 edge is what the G4 used to be. 5.5" is the sweet spot. So now LG gives us a taller device with a smaller screen with aluminum that is coated in plastic that looks like plastic. Compared to the G4 this is a real let down. And they wiped the best feature... the volume rockers on the back.
Nice video... However, the bootloader is NOT locked. T-Mobile as a practice do not lock their bootloader unless it is specifically requested by the manufacturer. This was confirmed by an LG rep at a T-Mobile store when I presented that question to him. Interestingly though, in an unprecedented request, Samsung has requested that all of the new Note, S7 and S7 Edge be locked to all carriers.
It has been confirmed over on XDA that this bootloader is unlocked actually. The user did the traditional oem unlock and the device wiped and rebooted with the message saying it can't check device corruption so all is good! Anyone who wants an unlocked bootloader should buy this phone or the HTC 10 coming up to prove that Samsung shouldn't get away with locking their bootloaders.

LG recently announced that there should be a third launcher home option called "home with app drawer" that doesn't seem to be on this phone. (look up the video for LG UX on TH-cam for more details). It's different from "easy home" - easy home is a very reduced version of the launcher with very limited features. Wonder if the reviewer needs to update his software?

Seen a bit of an eye opening video from Erica Griffin with bad build quality and screen light bleed! Not good lg!! Love my g4 but think I will be waiting for the htc m10 when it comes out in the next month or so if the camera and battery are up to scratch. Keep up the good videos TK 👍
Overall the build quality, is a decision that lg took a big chance on and it does not feel like the premium feeling they are talking about. The camera setup is nice and I want to check out the friends accessories. Hoping they perform well.

I would since you are coming from a Samsung ui device. You might want the s7 over the g5. The g5 has a different ui and it might be. The cameras on both are great.
for that the 2 have the same SOC really that's the SD 820. If money is a factor the G5 would win. the camera on the back a great and with the Wide angle camera you cannot beat it
Build quality is a preference, the phone does not feel as good in the hand as the S7 Edge does. but once I put cases on my devices that was not a factor for me. the Screen on both devices are QHD so you are getting great displays as well.
