Great video as always! Interesting to see the older Gear VR fits, asxI have two I got for free! just need to get a controller! I have a choice of gift products here in Turkey so might go for a Dex or 360 camera instead.

I noticed there's a Samsung VR labelled the "Note-8 Edition". Will any VR-2017 version work with the Note-8 or only the one labelled "Note-8 Edition"? This is where I get confused and I don't wanna buy the wrong thing if I need to buy the VR device labelled "Note-8 Edition".
the note 8 edition is the one that will work the best and you will have some room left with the device installed, the other one from the s 8 launch will work but its a tight fit

No issues, I used for a while and other than the fit being a little tight it was all good
Samsung Gear VR for the Galaxy S9 and note line next gen would be perfect if the controller had a companion controller with the toggle stick and a Halo of lights around each controller and the head case was able to read the controllers better than Windows new VR headset that is supposed to be a cheap little thing going down on price I also like that you can change the controller buttons be for Rapid Fire and stuff like that your fingers don't get tired

The 2016 vr headset is the same as the 2017. It just comes with the remote now.
TK, any issue with the Gear VR? I know they are releasing a Note 8 version of the Gear VR but I'd rather pickup one of the 2017 version for cheaper.

Are you sure if the 2016 gear vr works perfectly with the Note 8? I had called up samsung customer care and they said the reason they have come with new gear vr for note 8 is because it doesn't fit in the old gear vr due to its size.... I have ordered a new 2016 gear being not aware of this fact and planning to return it back to Amazon... So please advise

the tech that Samsung uses for Adaptive fast charging is about the same speed as QC 2.0 not 3.0
what if you have a thin case on the note 8? I'm guessing it will not fit? It would be a pain to take it out every time.
+canny3d unfortunately cases will prevent the phone from sitting in the gear vr. It sucks but it will only work that way.
I got my Gear VR in 2017 without the Controller and got the controller separately. Will that work or do I have to order the one with the controller?

My one has a problem. When I insert the note 8 in the vr it does nothing and occasionally say moisture detected event tho it's not wet. I constantly reset my phone to get rid of the moisture notification. I've deleted oculus many times but it still doesn't work. I figured out that I have to have the vr charging while the phone is in for it to work but this is really awkward with a short cord connected to a wall. Please help
Sounds like the usb port might be damaged? You should not have to charge it to use it.

none that I have seen, although I have not been playing at much since the video. it runs well and is a tight fit but it works.

Can you see the pixels in note 8 VR ? in my note 5 VR i just couldn't keep using it because of the pixels.
+TheLordstrider some games yes but most of them no. It depends on how the devolves design their games. But the display resolution did not change from the note 5 just the aspect ratio.

For the note 8 if you have the note 7 edition then it will work just a tight fit, and you won’t have the remote. I would recommend getting the s8 edition that would be better

Hi Man . Firstly Thanks to this video . i have only one question . i hust pre-order theis SGN8 . i bought a gear vs with c with the s8+ . is this vr work with the SGN8 !! Did you try it with SG8+
+Badr Box they made one specifically for the note 8 but like I had in the video the phone will fit but it's really tight.
The S8 plus and Note 8 almost have everything, but they lack a few things just like every other phone on the market, Apple isnt even in this though lol, they are still using 750p displays and 1080p displays, but the LG V30 will have an oled screen, although they are gonna have some of the same problems now as the S8+ and Note 8, unfortunately LG decided to go with a crazy aspect ratio as well, meaning that the black bars on the side of your phone/ the issue of not being able to utilize your full screen is an issue, while watching videos you will get black bars, and in allot of apps and mostly anything you look at will look crazy, some of the text will run off the screen/not be on the screen, I have played around with these phones and seen how bad it is, and this weekend I saw allot of them that other people had, and in almost every app text looked crazy and would get cut off on the side of the the screen/ it just doesnt look natural. Also phone screens thease days are nothing to brag about, my home monitors and TVs have a higher resolution than almost every phone on the market, although Sony has a phone with a 4k display though/ 3840×2160p, which is the same resolution as my monitors and TVs, I remember when Samsung phones had higher resolution screens than monitors and TVs, Samsungs slacking these days, the S8+ should have been 3840x2160p and the note 8 should have been 5120 × 2880p, but unfortunitly Samsung is trying to be apple these days, every new model that has came out since the note 4 has been a downgrade, yes hardware has gotten better, but for example the note 5 lost Mah in its battery, external storage/no micro SD card Slot, no removable battery, and no IR blaster, I know that may not sound like much, but Samsung is supposed to have every feature and always have an upgraded phone, Sasmung is just not the same company they used to be. Also if Samsung was the company they used to be they would have revolutionized the smart phone industry , by having graphite batteries in the Note 8, with graphite batteries instead of lithium batteries Samsung could have gotten longer battery life out of their phones and also fixed there problems, which are having a problem making there phones thiner/the body of the phone less thick. Also charge times would be seconds/a minute vs an hours. Also the one plus 5 has 8GB of RAM vs Samsungs 6GB of RAM, Samsung has been slacking lately, badly. Also removable batteries and water resisting can go hand and hand, before the manufactures/Samsung/LG started water treating there phones you could send your phone off to be treated and allot of those phones that were treated had removable batteries and these phones had no issues, point being is when can have a removable batterie and water resistance as well. Also removable batteries are a must have, batterey failure is enevatable , and it usually happends before the phone dies/stops working, so being able to switch out the batterie is crucial.

+Edd edd the jump on demand is a lease. So go call T-Mobile and ask to start it on your line and then once you get the phone use the receipt to process the rebate

no music player installed you have to get it from the samsung app store, they did that on the S8+ as well. they want you to use google play music player

TK thanks so much I have very thin long fingers and the way everyone made this phone sound was it was heavy not,the fingerprint sensor was hard not,and as far as the phone being thick not and if they think this is thick the s8+ must be paper thin.This phone is not what most explained.I want to thank you for telliing like it is.I say the only issue I have is thin long fingers but I also have long nails so that would be the only issue.Now I only just received it.So I will see.I do have to say I just saw the New Apple devices and they are sweet as well.I will have to come back to some of the reviews because I did pass on the other's the S8 and plus so I have to Thank you for your reviews thus far Deb.✌👍
I am very intrigued with the Iphone 10 but will always be an android fan at heart. Now that does not mean I won't checkout the new one when it comes out. we shall see how people received the entirely new Iphone. Iphone users have not needed to adapt to a new User interface since the first Gen Iphone and the new Flip all that over and starts new. a definite learning curve for sure to some

+NH Komaiha between the S8 + and the note 8 the ram. Makes a big difference and the screen is bigger and spen works great. I would recommend the note 8. I love xda, hope you follow me on the xda channel. On TH-cam as well.

honestly most after market ones wont work for your 6.3" display you need a daydream headset first Gen will work.

the phone does appears to be too big for it. I guess there was two different models of gear VR in 2016? This one shows model SM-R323
The type C connector on the left hook works, but the phone can't be seated into the hook on the right side. It is about 3 or 4 mm too big to fit into the whole thing.

I cancelled my preorder for this phone since it doesn't support Tmobiles 600mhz 71 band. The chipset inside isn't compatible with the new coverage.
