Ya recently I got denied for an Ink card because of a credit limit issue. Thank fully I was able to get it overturned by moving my credit line around on my other Chase cards. It was a PITA.
That's great you eventually got approved. The credit limit issue is a real pain because Chase has a ton of good credit cards. I want at least a couple more, but this denial is making me rethink my future plans for more Chase applications
I was denied for the Chase United Club card a few years back. Found out the hard way the reason was Chase has a limit of about half your annual income for credit lines across all your active cards.
@@balloonparkoh. Well that’s good then. I’m planning on opening my 1st Chase card in early 2026 which will be the Prime Visa cause I would imagine they’re hard inquiry sensitive and I’d have too much for the freedom cards
Yeah the "half you annual income" rule seems to trip a lot of people up. You could try to lower the credit limits on some of your cards. It works sometimes but not for my most recent application
This happened to me just recently. I opened 3 Ink cards last year, but they were all spaced out about 3 months apart. Would refer Inks back in forth with my P2, so we opened 6 Inks between the two of us (each spaced out ~3 months for each person). I applied for another Ink and was denied, then (maybe foolishly) applied and was denied for a Sapphire Preferred. What’s crazy is I’m 0/24 and we’ve banked with Chase since 2019. Unfortunately, my P2 is 2/24 and various online tools suggest cards from a different ecosystem for her. But not sure about the next move - maybe I we should just cool it for a while. Either way, it’s got me nervous for another Chase app and there are moments each year we have planned big spends that I’d really like to apply toward a SUB.
Yeah I think it would probably be best to take some time off from Chase cards. Probably a couple months or so. In the meantime, you could apply for many other great cards, especially with your 0/24 status
Having 10+ credit cards and recently taking a trip where I couldn’t access a lounge during a 4 hour layover, I’m no longer stressing credit card approvals. In may, I’ll be under 5/24, I’ll grab all the Chase cards I need, and I’ll keep going on. Having to plan for recon and fighting an uphill battle isn’t something that’s worth my time anymore. I can earn points via Amex or Chase via the multipliers, so I’m focusing on organizing my spend rather than welcome bonuses, for now at least. Great video and great lesson! Love your content. - Ivan.
Omg I just got denied too, it's my first denial ever! Applied for business ink cash and was told too many opened accounts and too many inquires. The inquiry part sucks because I only appied for 2 credit cards within the last year which was CSR and Venture X. The other inquiries was from buying a new car. Should I call the recon line again?
Quite frankly, I am glad that Chase may be cracking down on people without a real business and/or only spending to get the welcome bonus or putting obviously non-business spend on their business credit cards. It may be none of the above, but Chase has to respect their own bottom line first.
Interesting. My chase private client banker told me there's a 5/24 rule for business cards that's separate from personal. (He's a point and mile hacker too.) I've had peeps on YT deny this info 20 ways from Sunday. Sounds like you hit the real 5/24 biz barrier.
It varies by state. For me it's always Experian and never Transunion or Equifax. Google "Which Credit Bureau Does Chase Pull?" and click on the Doctor of Credit article for data points on your state
I get denied once or twice a month by every issuer. Ms a lot. Chase is very friendly I would never worry about a decline drawing attention to my account.
I have seen some of those reports on Reddit and a few other places. Thanks for the heads up about that! I think I'll take it easy with Chase, especially for my wife. I'll look around to other issuers right now while those Chase accounts get older
That's tough. Chase might be trying to tighten things up just a little bit right now but I think if you try again in a couple months you probably shouldn't have an issue
Haha nice! I have 8 right now and my wife has 7. They probably don't like how quickly we've received all of our cards. Eventually I'd love to get to 10 Chase cards each

Wait really? I have no Chase cards and make 22k a year and have 64k worth of credit so closing those lines would hurt me..
@@Jonathan_Youngs I think they only count your total Chase credit limit, sorry if was not clear.

@@Jonathan_Youngs They aren't inquiry sensitive imo. Also consider getting the prime card last since 5/24 does not apply.

As a single successful man I can’t relate. I don’t need a teammate. Teammates complicate things
Lol teammates make things more complex 😁
If you have to pump yourself up for an introduction then you are probably are a lonely and sad man and not successful.

Love to hear to have a solid plan for where you want to take this! Get those Chase cards and move on to other opportunities

Yeah I would call the recon line again and be prepared to state why your business needs this card. Hopefully you’re still able to get approved
This is very important for so many people to know. Great breakdown my friend!
Always happy to share new information when I learn about it! Thanks!
I just got denied for the IHG Business Card. Number one reason-5/24.
Sorry about that. 5/24 gets all of us eventually. Hopefully you drop below 5/24 soon and can get the card later

Yeah I kind of understand why they might be tightening things up. Looks like it's time for me to use all of my card more often

That's great to know what the bank told you! I'm happy I know about this rule now so I can plan out my next applications
Thanks for the info
You're welcome!
What credit bureau does Chase use for credit cards?
It varies by state. For me it's always Experian and never Transunion or Equifax. Google "Which Credit Bureau Does Chase Pull?" and click on the Doctor of Credit article for data points on your state
For me, for the Freedom Unlimited, they pulled TU and EX. For the Ink Biz Unlimited, they pulled EQ and EX.
depends on region, for me in Texas they always pull experian
What is your actual business?
It's related to social media
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit😂 “Social Media”.
Hopefully this application didn't draw negative attention to your accounts. The recent reports of Chase shutdowns and denials are not good for us.

The same here. Denied my IHG business application. First 2 reasons are the same. My newest Chase biz card is ink preferred approved 1 month ago.
That's tough. Chase might be trying to tighten things up just a little bit right now but I think if you try again in a couple months you probably shouldn't have an issue
I’m sorry for that
It's ok. It had to happen some time so I knew the boundaries of what's acceptable
I have like 9 chase credit cards 🤣

@JacobsPointsAndProfit u r not wrong on that my brutha u n I have too many fuckin chase credit cards 🤭🤭
