I hate my BOA premium rewards because I need to keep 50k in crappy customer service Merrill Lynch in order to get an extra 50% onto my multipliers. I hate US Bank because I didn’t get a chance to get the USBAR before they closed it. I hate my citi trifecta because I’m saving my thank you points for transfer to American Airlines, that will probably never happen. Going to start using my Pennsylvania State Employees CU debit card again. Thank you very little for ruining my day, Dan.
I never understood the allure of “receiving your pay check up to two days early” Let’s say you normally get paid every second Thursday. If you get your pay check two days early, you would get it on Tuesday. If you continue receiving your pay check two days early, your next pay check is still going to be 14 days later. All you really accomplished is changing your payday from every second Thursday to every second Tuesday. Why is that a good thing? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Dude at the end of the day you get your check two days earlier. Some people may need it earlier for whatever reason, what’s not clicking. It just isnt for you
What I like about getting paid two days early on Wednesday is that I have a couple business days before the next week to make transfers and such. It just allows me to finalize everything before the weekend. But you make a good point that regardless you get paid every 14 days
Could agree with this more! The coupon book needs to stop. Or at the very least they need to be 6 month credits vs monthly credits do that they’re easier to use
The AMEX cards being like the classic "coupon book" where it's very hard to follow all the benefits and track which ones you still have each year can make your head spin. Playing the credit card game really requires one to be organized and understand all the perks. The Platinum Card is a turn-off for so many, not due to the fee, but because understanding all the perks is very difficult
about the Green Card: the transit category should be combined with gas. this would make it the ultimate "transportation" credit card. also, the Platinum Card should be made into a 2x catch-all card as well. Amex really needs a personal catch-all card. these two changes would make Amex a LOT more appealing.
Ah the Sapphire Preferred (not reserve) didn't have ANY of the flights or hotels we needed for SE Asia, but CapitalOne Venture had them all! I am not a fan of the Sapphire anymore. I am a CapitalOne Venture stan and I will die on this hill!
The fact that the biggest downside for Venture X is 'it will be downgraded' implies this is an almost perfect card😂. And the con you've said about travel portals is not a factor as they have a price match guarantee. Nice video BTW. I'm kinda falling out in love with Chase myself as I found out that I barely use the cards except for Freedom Flex. I'll keep my cards open as they barely cost me anything but I see your point. Can't wait to cancel my Amex gold card next year and apply for Venture X. It sucks that I missed the US Bank Reserve bandwagon.
We booked the Mercure Iguazú Falls, Argentina with the Citi Strata Premier, got $100 back and the price on the Citi portal was $200 less than on the Accor website. 3 nights cost us $400.
Yeah I totally get that. I think there’s too many credits and I don’t like that most of them are monthly. Makes it harder to get back enough value for some people
Exactly, both earn 3x on dining like I said. The joke I was making is that when given the option between using these 2 cards, people will almost always choose to pay with the CSR to earn 3x at a restaurant because it’s a metal card haha
Wow, Daniel! This is such a refreshing take. The Hater's Guide adds a fun twist to credit card content, especially when most videos just focus on the positives. Really enjoyed this! Nice videos as always, Daniel.
Thanks Raj! Yeah I figured it was a really good Reddit post that I read and would make for a great alternative take on TH-cam as well. Definitely enjoyed making this one from the negative side of things haha
Honestly got the Amex Gold, got the sub, and now it's worthless. I can't recoup the credits because I do not use any of those services or eat at any of those places otherwl than force myself to Dunkin. Transfer partners are not the ones I would use so I am focusing on my Chase setup and my USBAR. I will be cancelling asap.
Idk i feel like you were a little too reserved. You could have easily mentioned how Amex and VX points are only worth if booking international flights. Also zero mention about the VX $300 credit is knly redeemable through their portal.
Bashing on these cards is exactly the point of the video. To only show the negatives instead of the positives. The truth is that every person is going to have some cards that work for them and some that don’t. It’s all about the looking at them within the context of your own life. I’m just here to share my thoughts and opinions to help out 👍
@@Daniel_Braun Yeah for sure; that's why diversification is also pretty important (but of course that brings up the problem of simplicity vs complexity), but that's part of what makes the credit card journey so interesting
How often can I apply for a credit card I currently have discover it and capital one savor but I really want to get into chase and get the flex and unlimited and than try for the csp as fast as possible
You should consider the Sam’s Club Mastercard kinda like the SavorOne card. It has 3% dining 1% everywhere else AND.. 5% on Gas for 6,000 per yearly quarter which CAN come to good use for those that work or travel a lot from state to state. I use it for the 3% dining now with the higher limit of 7k aside from my newly raised 2.5K limit SavorOne card but the SavorOne also always comes with me in my wallet just in case!
Super interesting video Daniel! I for one feel like there is a new big 3 of credit in Chase, Capital One, and Citi. Im not a fan of Amex other than the Blue preferred anymore.
Can you make a video talking about what credit cards/company’s you can take advantage of via sign up bonuses and stuff like that as it’s a good way to make a few hundred extras dollars while also practicing good financial decisions
Would you add anything else to hate on the credit cards in this video?

Used it be ppl got paid every Friday….cash, then eventually by check. Now despite money being digital it takes 2 weeks to get paid.

@@junyaiwasestill every 14 days
People that live pay check to pay check are just so fixated on getting paid early that they don’t realize what their real problems are
Cancelling ALL my credit cards after watching this. Thanks for opening my eyes Daniel
Heheh, hating on Apple savings and then give praise to his sponsor… SoFi
I’ll always have a love hate relationship with Amex lol. Amazing customer service, amazing SUB’s but damn those coupon cards.

Thanks Lani! I had a lot of fun on the takes for this video haha

This was a fun video. And yes, Citi has the Worst customer service out there 😂

I definitely plan on closing my amex gold now. The credits are too hard for me to earn.
Yeah I totally get that. I think there’s too many credits and I don’t like that most of them are monthly. Makes it harder to get back enough value for some people
Both CSR and Freedom Unlimited give 3x points on dining purchases. What you said here 3:46 is not correct. Please let me know if you agree.

High Value video from a High Value Man!
Cancelled my Amex gold, now I'll cancel my apple. Pretty happy with my 95$ citi trifecta so far!

Refreshing video. Most TH-camrs are just selling their referral links.
Usually I have to sit and hear only the great things like a salesman.

I loved reading through that Reddit post, so happy to see the 2025 version! Would love to see some US Bank
This was a fun take. Really enjoyed this video.
wait, other people have an active cash? i thought i was the only one.
wells fargo FTW
Finally, a video for a D1 hater like me (jk I try not to hate on every card unless they have costs with zero benefits or something like that)
Glad you liked it Peter! Haha yeah lots of videos focus on the positives on every credit card, but obviously they’re all flawed in their own way

It depends on the card company. I was able to get my sapphire and freedom within the same year
Google 5/24 rule for Chase
I would get the VX if you qualify before you move to chase
really great take Daniel! Happy holidays and always enjoy your videossssss
What are the best airline credit cards? Airfare has taken off recently even without the nickel and diming to the gate
YES
Thanks for the early view!

Keep up the contrarian stance. It has a place here. More than the love we have for our cards, we have hate.
AAA credit card?
Stolen from reddit?
Super interesting video Daniel! I for one feel like there is a new big 3 of credit in Chase, Capital One, and Citi. Im not a fan of Amex other than the Blue preferred anymore.
Cool to see a perspective different from what I typically see on YT. Always finding new ways to bring us value!

First comment - thanks for watching again! 🥇
Happy Holidays!

Thanks for watching!
You should make a video about the Robinhood Gold card!
Can you talk a little slower

Loved this video Daniel! Keep up the great work!🫵
Can’t wait for part 2🙌
