- In today's video, I wanted to deep dive into the use of Berberine for regulating your blood glucose, aka your blood sugars.
This popular herbal medicine has been used for hundreds of years for various conditions but it has gained a lot of its popularity for its help with blood sugar regulation and the actions of insulin.
Here we will cover how it works and how it can be used for blood sugars and for weight.
Enjoy!

I got some berberine from Costco today. Thanks for the informative video.😊
You’re welcome!
It really works,I am not using glucophage anymore due to berberine
Thanks for commenting! It’s nice to hear what people’s personal experiences are with it!
Robin, thank you watched your video with a great deal of interest and will talk to my GP when visiting next week
Although on a lot of medication for type E diabetes thoughts are now turning to 36 hour fasting as this reduces insulin injections and controls weight - your thoughts would be welcomed
Ken Shaw😊
Thank you Ken! I hope the new methods help ❤️❤️
Keto/carnivore diet is the best solution I believe?? Namaste 🙏
AWESOME - excellent info - what type of berberine do i take? - full or empty stomach?
Berberine HCL is usually what I use, many companies carry it. Taking it for food if you’re using it for blood sugars.
What is the ideal blood sugar level? What is too high?
Can I take yellow dock with Berberine please ?
Yes that’s not an issue typically.
I usually eat a small snack with coffee at 9am then dinner at 530pm.
I'm not diabetic
Do i run a risk of hypoglycemia if i take 500mg of berberine at 530am,12noon,thenjust before dinner?
It helps optimize insulin but it doesn’t increase the production in the same way other medications does, so, in theory it shouldn’t.
That being said if you start to notice nausea, lightheaded, dizzy or anxiety between meals (all signs of low blood sugar) then I would stop and get your sugars assessed properly.
Tis an exaggeration to suggest Berberine is "a solution" to type 2. A help, sure. A solution...not even close.
Thanks for the comment! I agree solution was the wrong choice of word. I have updated the title to reflect what I meant more clearly.
Hi, being a type 2 can i take Berberine while taking 500g metformin?
You can just make sure your blood sugars are being monitored so you don’t go too low.
Go Canucks!!!
Hahaha heck yeah! 🎉🎉
i think it's a good option to NOT get t2, along with diet, exercise and sleep. my family has very strong history of t2 and I'm working very hard to make sure i don't develop this with poor choices. also, it's very very important to get a high quality berberine! i use Thorne and see wonderful results....my mom however, needs her metformin. also, she refuses to change her unhealthy lifestyle.
also, I use a CGM and see a big difference when I take high quality bernerine with my meal.
Thank you for this helpful comment! You’re absolutely correct, the brand matters! There are many good and bad berberines out there and Thorne is definitely a good one 🙂
I have been using it for 12 weeks noresults stomach upset bowel upset . extreme stomach pin no weightloss I do one meal a day and have gained weight tried to up lmy level to 1000 mg but the pain is bad i have been using WellbetX natural factor brand berberine should i discontinue why so much bloating abdominal
Type 2 here. Berberine didn't work for me at all, but Metformin does work for me. Thanks for the video though.
Thanks for the comment! Its not for everyone, that is for sure :)
Metformin appears to inhibit intestinal absorption of vitamin B12, which can lead to anemia and neuropathy due to B12 deficiency
Thanks @@carmen47freixas96 for the helpful comment as this is a well documented side effect of the drug :)
@@dr.robinlewis Thank-you.
