Including typical Model variants, interior, exterior, performance and running costs etc. We are not covering reliability and things to look out for in this video. We will be covering those items in another specific Buying Guide video.

    Great video! I bought my wife's '03 XK8 4.2 liter Convertible (here in the States) as an '05 Xmas present for her. She still has it, drives it often, and loves it. Doesn't drive it so much in the winter (salty roads). She said she'd like a Coupe, but we didn't have the heart to sell the '03 Convertible. I considered new and used F-Types, but the Mrs is only 5 ft and 1/2 inches tall, so she could barely see over the dash board of that "pillbox" design of the F-Type. We ended up getting her a '14 XK for Xmas 2017. She'll drive it occasionally, but I am the one who usually drives when we take it out together, and, I'll admit, I drive it myself more often (again during nicer weather). That newer XK is a fabulous GT to take on long trips.

    This channel is almost too good to be true! 1997-2003 XK8's have always been my dream car, and after decades of waiting, I'm finally in the market to buy one. Damian, I'm new to the channel, but I cannot thank you enough for all the info that you provide. Your content literally answers every question I've had....from the tensioner issues, to the specific differences between each model year. Keep up the great work sir!

    Oh Damian, you've obviously never spent time in the states back in the 70's! These Jags are NOT, by any stretch of the imagination, a "big" car!! In fact, my '04 XKR is by far the smallest car I've ever had! Back in '77 GM "downsized" all their mid and full size cars, and they were still enormous compared to these Jags. This Jag also gives me by far the best gas mileage I've ever had in a car.

      Marcos, I love my BBS Milan’s too. A good set of wheels really lift the car to a new level. I had revolvers and flutes before but IMHO these are the best by far. Compared to Detriots they aren’t hard ride and don’t cost the earth. Thanks for the comment regards Damian

    The radiator will leak coolant into your transmission unless you have an XKRR which no one ever got to own. the transmission shop will not hook up the transmission wiring harness correctly after the rebuild and the drive shaft will eat up the cables. But it is pretty to look at.

    Mine has the SatNav, it works, wouldn't use it if ineeded to as it is time consuming and my phone is far quicker. That said, having three dials that don't give you any accurate readings and are pretty much even more useless. I leave my SatNav on as it displays the Jaguar logo/leaper. :-)

    I've wanted an XJS since i was a kid. Now I'm 52 the XK is a more realistic proposition. I've been driving a Mini Cooper convertible for a few years not. I car that is reliable and extremely cheap to own. Am i mad to want to finally get a Jag? I only drive 2 weeks in 5 due to work, and this would be my second car. I wouldn't want to spend much more than £5k.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Richard, no you aren’t mad, but you do need to go into this with your eyes open. It’s going to be a 20 year old modern classic car with all the normal age related problem plus all the XK8 specific ones. Need to get very good advise when buying to avoid the pitfalls. Advise you test drive one because they drive like tankers compared to a mini, might help you decide if you really want one. Good luck, regards Damian

      @richardbritain7435, they say never met your heroes. Car Design has moved on quite a bit since. But if you have an itch, no need to purchase one, to have a quick scratch. Why not try an XJS test drive as well. You’ll know then if you really need one in your life, regards Damian
