@@FoolishFishBooks I'm curious about the meaning/origin of your channel name - "foolish fish". I looked on your "about" and didn't see anything? Side note....I have an astrology book which is HUGE and is a collection of every birth date couples combination possible, by the day and also goes over various kinds of couples such as friend, work, romantic (I can not remember the name of it now). I just came upon your channel and the "left hand path" video on my youtube home page today, so I watched that video.
What's really interesting to me is, the date combination for myself and an ex, who I met in 1992, lost contact with in 1995, reconnected with briefly in 2009 and then reconnected with in 2014 (and then things got weird)...says "following the left hand path".
So to clarify, his birthday and my birthday, in that book, the title of those 2 dates combined (Dec 9 - his and March 11 - mine) IS "following the left hand path". However, sadly, a lot of crappy people got in-between us and I have not seen nor heard from him since late 2017.
i can tell you, i was able to see what he was doing and even thinking (when we were in close proximity or on the phone) and since I last saw him, mostly just in the last few weeks, I have slowly become aware that I have some precognitive gifts. I've been very confused for a long time about what is serendipity vs what is manipulation, because I suspect there are at least a few people using magic, as in spells and stuff, to interfere with my perception and possibly even our connection. I have definitely been severely gaslit by a large group of people over a long period of time, that much I know for sure.
I thought it was "gang-stalking" or "mobbing" and it might be that too, but there's more going on that just community harassment. Thanks for any advice or input, especially on the channel name, which as a (double stelliium) pisces I find curious. Cheers. ps I have been completely isolated for 4 years now, after being slandered as having pretty much every mental illness in the book, disproven by more than one thorough psych assessment.

If I may offer my view, I really advise the Donald Tyson edition. It's composed of all three books and far more affordable than the Eric Purdue edition. It is written in old English but each page has a subsequent translation page that really helps the reader. It's a great consideration for an all in one package

@@betablockrr Tyson's edition is still in (early) modern English! Part of the reason I felt a new translation was needed was due to Tyson's frequent erroneous notes and "corrections". Many of his notes ARE helpful, but unless you know the material, knowing the helpful from the incorrect can be tough.

Sorry for making a late comment here! I just rewatched this, and at the end the reviewer wondered why I didn't mention Paul Summers Young's version. There are a couple of reasons: first, Mr. Young's version came out while this was in production - which was quite lengthy. By the time his came out, several drafts were written, and I would have needed to unravel the ball of string again. The other reason is that I haven't read his version. Had it come out earlier, I would have included it in my textual comparisons.

Translation has become a subject of academic investigation and often heated debate for several decades. There are in fact several translation theories and translations are done with many different purposes, especially the more scholarly ones, on the one hand, and those that are more intended for public dissemination, on the other hand; there are also those that are situated between one pole and the other, looking for a middle ground between them. I believe that this video illustrates these three main possibilities very well, which is clear from the reading of the paragraphs that our dear FF graced us with in this video.
Another topic: the Great Denis Poisson will be in Anathema’s new publication soon: “this version [(h)Auroræ Paperback Edition] will feature a brand new Preface by our dear friend and comrade-in-the-Arte; Denis Poisson (of the Foolish Fish TH-cam channel)”. How not to be proud of our dear FF? Fantastic, Denis! You very much deserve all success! Cheers, pal!

Can you review or react to the Lore of HID&GEM / Lore of HDnG?? It's a Wiki style read, and the English version is all online. Thanks from the fanbase~

Somehow this does seem like the definitive edition at the moment. In terms of aesthaetics, readability and price. For me at least the bigger format is superior to BLP and the aesthetics and readability far superior to the llewellyn. Oh i don't know :D

Someone needs to make an edition with Purdue's translation, Tyson-style massive explanatory footnotes and appendices, and a really nice binding. I would pay many monies for such a thing.
Thanks for the detailed comparison of the language.

I lucked out because my copies are perfect with no scuffing or flaws. Mine showed up in thick bubble wrap. But I am afraid after I get done reading them there will definitely be scuffing.

Damaged books in the mail are so frustrating. My copy if this edition should be here on Wednesday I hope it arrives in good shape. Thanks as always my friend for these awesome videos.

Yeah, my worry is that it wasn't damaged in the mail. This seems to me to be a production issue.
Edit: if only they'd watched your latest video on packing books properly, right? 😄🙏 Loved that video!

Christopher Warnock and John Michael Greer did a new translation about 10 years ago if I remember correctly. Is this new translation by Eric a better translation?

    • @akgunkel
      @akgunkel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I believe you might be thinking of Greer & Warnock's translation of the Picatrix? If they produced a translation of Agrippa, all references to it seem to have been removed from the internet.

I originally published book one through Warnock. I switched gears shortly afterward. It's my translation!
