Sorry if I'm commenting only now:The Carro Armato was the first medium M11/39 that was considered as a breakthrough tank but it wasn't bad, it was actually awful especially considering paper-thin riveted armour that when hitted in the right place it ricocheted like bullets inside seriously injured or killed the crew. The beauty was the mono turret was hand cranked whilst the placement of the main 37 mm gun in the hull was both hand cranked or hydraulically operated and wasn't very reliable, mostly because of the low quality components especially the drive shaft that tended to break. It was hopelessly obsolete already on the drawing tables...

I always felt bad for the Italian tank crews while studying the Afrika korps campaign. The Italian armored divisions did the best they could. The best thing was for the Italian armored units to engage the 8th army units and then retreat quickly and lead the British into German anti tank gun ambushes.
Yeah to this day I wonder why Germany never really decided to share it's tank blueprints with Italy, because Italy was basically drawn into a war they were not ready for
@@LearningHistoryTogether Rommel's diary entry's and his after battle report after Alamein stated that the Last signal from the Ariete division of the Italian XX corps was at 15:30 hours nov.4th was " enemy tanks penetrated south of ariete, now encircled 5km nw bir El abd. Ariete tanks in action " .they went down fighting and by evening the XX Italian corps was completely destroyed. Rommel wrote that in the Ariete they lost their oldest Italian comrades, from whom we had probably always demanded more than they, with their poor armament, had been incapable of performing. It was always a problem for both the German and Italian armament producers that Hitler moved the start of hostilities from fall of 1946, to 1939. The panzer 3 was just entering service, Donitz had 21 ocean going U-Boats instead of 300 needed. For Italy it was worse. If they could have been using steel from Krupp, along with the anti-tank guns the British 8th army would have been hard pressed in 1940. Then Italian aircraft engines weren't powerful enough. When they put the jump 206's into the Fiat G.55 in 1943 they out performed the Bf.109's. Bad for the Italian soldiers and pilots but who knows how much longer and how many more people would have died if the nazi's weren't fighting amongst themselves for power and prestige instead of putting maximum effort into making weapons that were cheaper to produce, not over engineered, so that they could be maintained in the field and only use the fewest types to make spares easier for the logistics guys. Thankfully Hitler and is cronies were drug addicted, phsyco killers. I forget who it was doing their top five tanks for the tank museum, but when it came to the M4 Sherman. This changed my perspective big on how tanks were designed and used when he pointed out the most important thing on a Sherman. It was the 4 hoist loops used in loading them aboard ships and trains. 55,000 tanks no matter how good, are useless if they don't make it to the battlefield. Keep up the great work your doing wish I had the extra money to help you out. Look forward for the video.

It looks like M8 more than an M3. Looks like the Yankees nicked some designs! :P
Can you blame them when the Italian tanks were so successful?
worst tank ever
