    On October 4th 2012, Adam Ondra climbed the new hardest route in the world in magic unknown Flatanger region in Norway. For us, organizing, filming and sharing the whole process with Adam, it was a very very happy day... Here is a small video memory, summarizing a bit this incredible achievement by this 19 year old climbing genius. Old good times in old good, not yet discovered Flatanger, yeah... :-)

    "The key is not to get stuck in one situation, on one route, for too long" - Adam Ondra. The same guy that spent like 3 years on "Silence" in the same cave; most of which were spent on completing one boulder problem, that first foot hold crux. LOL. Godspeed Adam!

    The long version is one of my favorite climbing films. Just simple climbing experience, great pictures and about a sympathetic and passionated and intelligent guy, fighting for his goal.
    And all great edited!
    Thanks for that.
    And btw I can't hear the comments about his screaming and moaning any more. If you're climbing at your absolute limit nearly everybody does that. It helps! And you can't control this any more. In Adams case it's just more extreme.

    • @MiNi-nn7zi
      @MiNi-nn7zi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. One cannot do such feats without optimal breath control. It's just petty people continuously point out sounds integral to his perfect breathing technique. Let's say that only people who can accomplish what he has done could even in theory have some level of rights to criticize him in this matter. It requires only 1550+ 8a or more ascents, dozens of insane difficulty onsights, 9a or more first ascents, repeated pushing of boundaries to new levels etc. etc.
      It can be conjectured that nobody can ascent 9b+ without screaming, and that is generous assumption. Those who do not scream cannot ever accomplish such feats, so better for them to keep shut up altogether.
      There is also mute button for whiners, so they don't have to comment about sounds of God.

    This is by far the best climbing video for me! No unnecessary fast cuts, just smooth footage. The place looks just magical, I hope I will be able to go there one day. And the music from Emancipator is just from another world! And the level Adam Ondra is climbing on is just insane! Also I don't mind the screaming at all, it just shows how much effort and passion he puts into his climbing.

    This was an amazing climb in 2012, what is even more amazing is the fact that after 7 years it has still not had a repeat, not even an exploratory effort afaik?
    So, maybe this 9b+ is actually harder than the 3 or 4 other routes with the same grade? Maybe Seb Bouin who did the first repeat of Move 9b/+ could give an opinion?
    PS. Back in 1981/82 I put up the first new routes (in more than a decade) in Fosen which lies just south of Flatanger, we had no idea such a cave was hiding in a community with a name that literally means "Flat fields"! :-)

      Neither of these answers is correct. Running is largely athletic and getting better at it is a matter of improving fitness and mindset. Technique of course matters but in comparison to climbing it plays a tiny role in overall performance. Chess is by definition a game you play against others, while in pushing the limits of climbing the only person who is relevant is yourself (you can't replay a chess game over and over again over months while you can project a route for months or years, as Adam does in this video).

    I have no idea how hard that is but respects to this guy. Can get an idea of how hard it is when a pro is under that much pain ans giving it his all. Crazy stuff. And then you see kids these days glued to their phones and video games....what a waste. Pushing mind and body to limit is when you feel most alive no wonder all these kids are "depressed" these days.

      Yeah, I used to do quite a lot of climbing but it was pretty casual and definitely never scream-inducing.

      if your just dead quite on a route I don't think that's the hardest route you can do, not to mention this route is a very long lead route with moves that are nearly impossible, so it's pretty understandable actually.

      @carpetsalesman4578 7 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      oh shut up - it's the hardest route in the world for a reason - each of the holds are literally physically painful. If you've never climbed a route with a crimp so sharp that you screamed then you aren't pushing yourself. He also doesn't have to show off, he's already the best in the world.

      5 years later, my response is that every single one of his muscles is outrageous. His calves are working as hard as his forearms. Abs, back. Even his neck to keep his head held up while completely sideways..

      The reason is actually because you should do the hardest steps when you breath out,easy way to control that is by shouting,thats why he shouts,it also pumps up your head, and it has beed done by other climbers before

      If you never screamed while doing an intense physical effort that means you never did anything that seemed impossible for your body before you achieved it.

      You have to love that intermediate crack touch - just enough friction to to lock into the next hold, less than 1/4 second.

      For FINGER strength, squeeze a ball or a rubber ring, or there are special gizmos you can buy with springs. For ARM strength, use hang/campus boards as stated below.
