This tune is first played in 1736 in Glasgow. A Carillon had just been installed in the steeple at a cost of £316 Scots. The Carrillon played a different tune every day for it's first week. Roslin Castle was played on the Saturday. Sunday, "Easter Hymn;" Monday, "Gilderoy;" Tuesday, "Nancy's to the Green Wood Gane;" Wednesday, " Tweedside ; " Thursday, "The Lass o' Patie's Mill;" Friday, "The Last Time I Cam' o'er the Muir;" Saturday, " Roslin Castle."
March 1776-"Roslin Castle" was played by fifers as George Washington and army moved from Boston to New York after chasing British out of the Colonies. Thank you for this haunting music.
