    I helped my mom landscape the yard this way, except I pulled the bush then came back with a shovel and dug under the roots and my mom would be lifting the root ball with the shovel while I pulled it out with my truck...its all you can do when you don't have a guy around to help you. This is brilliant, work smarter not harder.

    be careful using chain if it breaks the metal becomes a deadly projectile. My friend was killed from this. He was in the military and trying to tow heavy equipment out of mud. The chain was as thick as my fist, but it broke, and a piece hit him in the neck. Pretty much took off his head. Using a small chain like this on a bush isn't as dangerous, but you don't want your kids sitting near by.

    You have to place a large diameter object between the strap and the ground right up on the base of the bush. This will pull the bush up and out when you drive away in the truck.

    The engine lift method was the best. It really removed all the roots.

  • @soundmapper
    @soundmapper 13 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The truck... i've seen people break their back window doing that when the chain or cable snapped back. Wish I didn't give away my engine lift, that's actually not a bad idea, especially when you have a bunch to pull.

    The best way is to wind the chain as tight as you can around the base, go slow to lock the links together, then pull.

  • @CrowdPleeza
    @CrowdPleeza 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should have trimmed some of the bottom twigs and then used a spading fork to loosen up the roots by digging the fork around the shrub.

    Great video, helped a lot. I was wondering, do you know (or anyone else) know a safe and/or easy way to remove a multiflora rose bush? Or can the same techniques used in this video be done to a multiflora rose bush?

  • @DillysADV
    @DillysADV 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well, that was entertaining that is fir sure, when pulling a shrub if you wrap the strap 2-3 times at the base it wont slide off so easy, also if you put a towel or floor mat in the middle of the Chain/ strap, it will not fly up and do damage to the car if it brakes but should go under it.. just some tips.. I do like the idea of the craine, I will have to try that, never done it that way before.

    I know of a guy who tried the chain trick on a tree stump, it broke the ball off of the hitch which flew off and hit his son in the head and killed him. Make sure you attach the chain to the frame. Sad story.

  • @deereman8237
    @deereman8237 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you’re going to pull a stump (or anything particularly heavy) with a truck, use a chain! If a chain breaks it’ll fall to the ground, not fly through your back window like a strap of cable. I knew a guy that got killed by a cable flying through his trick window trying to pull a stump.

    My bushes are not easy to get to. trunks as big as small trees. In my back yard that's not very accessible to machinery. The 2" limbs have gone thru and way over the wire fencing = 2 problems. Getting them from the back to the front loader is going to be very difficult. Any suggestions? I should make a video!

    I saw a guy do that with the engine puller on a little tree next to his house. He wrapped the chain around the bottom and started pulling it up, next thing I knew the whole side of his house was gone. He wrapped the chain around the gas pipe and the tree base. LOL

    yeah nice, but at the stump that I ripped with it I would much hazel and the car could do neither. Walnut stump 55 inches in diameter. Excavators dug it but although it was the end, I finally broke him self with recovery tank VT-55. Pulling power winch to 100 tons, so it was not a problem. VT.55: V12 engine, 40 liters, 580 hp, weight 42 tons. Diesel consumption: 250-1150 l / 100km. Pulling force main winch 100 t max over 2 pulleys. Rope diameter of 1.5 inches

    Good video for people to watch what they should not do. 1. Tie the stump around 3 time for better grip. 2. Pulling from front truck are stronger because of weight ratio. 3. Pulling a bush right by front house can be risk of pulling out water sprinkle pipe or electric wire. Check it first. I pulled a pine tree stump out with truck like your by using the front. There a hook on some front bumper.
