I agree with Luca. Some people are just miserabel and they have nothing better to do but to try and tear down others. I told a person once, "If you are miserable I had nothing to do with it", and he left me alone. It was about archery content.
Luca, thank you for what you are doing. I am your fan from Uzbekistan, and I learned English, Russian and Chinese by watching your videos. You help millions of people and make the world a better place to live!

I remember Lucas first videos, which were like a gasp of fresh air, given the general scarcity of good quality content on the internet and TH-cam. I believe he doesn’t owe anybody anything and definitely is in no need to prove anything to anyone. He has done more for the language community as all those ‘commentators’ put together. I don’t care if he makes mistakes or has a level, which micht be lower than expected. He is the one leading by example. Always a big fan of yours, grande Luca!
Luca you are really amazing person My dream is to be a polyglot and I learned few languages till now taking the motivation from your videos. You are really inspiring person. keep going
The only languages I'm qualified to judge are English and Spanish, and your level in each of those is clearly impressive. I've played videos of you speaking Chinese for some of my students and they had always good things to say.
Luca, I never doubted your language skills and you as a polyglot. You show so much dedication and passion, you've always been a big source of motivation for me when it comes to learning foreign languages. Furthermore, I agree with what you said about haters having personal problems and therefore leaving nasty comments on the internet. I'm glad to see that these comments don't seem to discourage you and I hope to see a lot more of your useful content and your amazing work. Grazie mille, Luca! 🤗
Luca, sos el mejor! Me encantan tus videos, no solo son una motivación para aprender idiomas sino que también son una motivación para estudiar! Gracias por tu buena vibra!!
As the life expectancy increases, it seems to be the case that we need to take more proactive measures to fortify our cognitive abilities. In very much the same way we need to change our diets as we age, we need to weight train and stretch daily. I think learning 1 or more foreign languages to a near native level should be added to that list. Just like playing an instrument like the violin or piano bolsters your cognitive abilities, language learning does very much the same thing. I know that I am preaching to the choir here.
Los comentarios negativos hacen mucho daño cuando alguien está aprendiendo un idioma. Esto me ha hecho desistir completamente de aprender portugués. Todavía planeo continuar aprendiendo otros idiomas.
It’s very apparent you are the real deal. What more could people expect? People who wish they could do what you do will jump at any opportunity to criticize- and what good does it do for anyone? None! Their energy would be better used on actually learning, and perhaps they’d see more success if they weren’t so focused on negativity. You on the other hand inspire many. Keep doing what you do, please!!!
How can any language learner not love Luca? All of the language learning heavyweights such as Steve Krashen, Steve Kaufman and others agree that Luca is an excellent polyglot, and in my opinion, also a really nice guy. I have learned more useful language learning information for free from Luca than I have learned from any language teacher that I have paid for.
The best thing about Luca isn't his language skills but his personality and the fact that he didn't change his style for clout or more views. I mean, can you imagine him going up to tourists in Rome wearing a T-shirt that says "I will give you a free pizza if I don't speak your language! "?!
I just now found you and have been learning Chinese for a few weeks now in an in-person class here in Asia, and it’s been a challenge. I’ve been surrounded by many Chinese friends throughout my life, but still struggle to learn it. So, I’m impressed from what I’ve heard and you’re an inspiration to so many and now to me as well. Thank you! 🙏
Hi Lucas .Huge fan . I just have an advice that critics are normal and you should not even listen to it .I think that every successful person always has nay-sayers to look down on you or tear down on you .Keep up the good work you are doing for the language community .I have been a huge fan follower .Honestly yeah ,I do have what I do not like and what I like with all your videos. But it does not mean that I have myself to criticize you for some dislikenesses .I even learn from you wether good or bad because those are ideas that can be used to advance .Some people will be jealous of you , won't accept your success .But it is not a problem coz U know your own value .Keep up the best work of language sharing .Waiting for amazing videos to come.
I owe a decent part of my vocabulary knowledge to space-repetition-based flashcards. I even designed my own unique box and even personalized flashcards! I guess you should see whether it works for you the best or it's not your booster...
I have found the srs algorithms hard to make work long term. I used it to learn 2200 kanji over a year, and even a year later after adding the last ones, there are still a fair number I have trouble with. I read daily, but many are still quite specific to a context, so you can go a long time not seeing them. On the other hand, just by reading I've learned around 10k words because of the effects of interleaving and seeing the same word in different contexts. I also was just doing what I wanted with the language. I think the effectiveness of recall drills drops off sharply after the first week in terms of benefit to comprehension. The knowledge is just a bit fragile until you can connect it to other things.
@@CaptainWumbo I appreciate your fully-replied reaction, you referred to some delicate truth out there concerning the effectiveness of the method... yet I guess at the end of the day, it all comes down to your learning style, since my brain had put the majority of the words I learned from cards into real good use. I had at least 7 different sentence examples for each word I learned, as I said I made sure to optimize the effectiveness for each word to a high degree.
For "A2" level of English, not bad :P Ignore the haters Luca. You and the rest of the established Polyglots are an incredible inspiration and motivators for us all. The ones who say you are fake are only jealous of your ability. Keep up the great work and content. Hopefully one day, we can sit down and have a chat. I look forward to that day.
Not only do I find you to be very inspiring for the polyglot in transition I am progressively becoming but I admire your calm and level-headedness in your responses to these comments. You love languages and astronomy among other things and we seem to have a few interests in common.
If Luca Lampariello is a fake polyglot, then nearly everyone collecting European languages is a fake polyglot. His mastery of the Indo-European branches is impressive. It really takes a long time for Luca to mispronounce a single (Standard American) English word and generally it's quite small and nitpicky. There's always a limit of time and energy, so it's practically impossible to have a "native-like" level in 5+ language families. We make compromises when choosing what language(s) to apply ourselves to.
The BDT is like any other method. It depends on the individual. For example, I used Anki to learn English vocabulary, and it worked fine. But using anki to try to learn Russian vocabulary didn't work for me for whatever reason. The same method (Anki) had different results to the same person (myself) 😂. Life is crazy. So, BDT could work or not. But it is a very interesting method.
Luca is the real deal, I respect him. Never understood why people think sharing a method is the same as telling everyone that it's the only method and that they HAVE to do it lol
This video actually made me a little sad. Luca, your work has been so inspiring and helpful with my language learning. And I agree that the comments say more about the author than about you.
Luca is the BEST polyglot in the world. PERIOD! Listen to him in this video. He's so articulate, speaks at great length from the top of his head in a natural and fascinating way. One would never know that English isn't his mother tongue, along with all the other languages he speaks to perfection. Although I believe accents are charming and that one shouldn't try to "hide" them, I can't help but admire how much he "sounds" French, and Spanish, and Portuguese, etc. That is a singular talent of his. I remember his first (I think) video on a balcony in Rome where he spoke seven or eight languages, and I was amazed at his proficiency. I'm hoping to find that video. 2024-10-29 Burlington ON Canada.
Luca, ¿cómo retomarías un idioma que no has usado en años como el chino? Hace 12 años que no hablo alemán y no sé por dónde empezar ahora... Muchas gracias por todo tu contenido.
Notes from this video: emotions must be engaged when Learning to be effective. Ideally it’s great to have some type of musical association with it, weather it’s in the language you study or instrumental music. The emotional association will cause it to stick. People shouldn’t focus on 1 million words. Just ONE at a time. Learning methods are just like our languages preferences. Some languages appeal to people more than others, some methods appeal more than others to people. Creativity is naturally imperfect. The imperfect nature makes it unpredictable. When it’s “Perfect” it gets predictable and loses the creative spark. Language learning comes from your heart. It’s not about pleasing people. It’s truly a game to play. Language learning comes inward from the soul as opposed to outside and doing it to get reactions from others. And last to quote Eckahart Tolle, you are right “What you react to others in ALSO In YOU!❤
Some people who can't be as good as you find rewarding for themself trying to undermine your passions. Those people are just unsatisfied of their life and they've put themself in a huge negative mood loop. Luca, you have turned your dreams in reality and l look you up for that! 😎
One of these trolls started a TH-cam channel and TH-cam thought I liked language learning videos and recommended it to me even though it didn’t have many views. This may not be everyone who writes a mean comment but you could tell from watching this guy for a few seconds that something just wasn’t right. You usually can’t see the people writing the comments so it’s less obvious but if you could see these people ignoring them would be too easy.
Luca, I love your videos and very much respect and admire your language skills. If I had to guess why we've seen an increase in certain types of negative comments, it's possibly related to general frustration with the direction of youtube. At one time there were no ads, real people, & organic growth; now there are tons of ads, sponsored videos, every channel selling merch, memberships, courses, & doing shenanigans to game the algorithm. Even if all this is unavoidable, it has led to youtube overall feeling much less organic, over-commercialized, and has made people very skeptical and suspicious. Of course, there's also just something about internet comment sections that brings out the worst in people. Anyway, don't let the trolls bring you down, Luca. ✌️❤️
I'm a wannabe-polyglot (fluent in 4 languages only) and I love your channel. Your sincere reaction to those comments shows me that you're a kindhearted person and an authentic, legit hyperpolyglot. Please keep up the good work, and let me know if you want me to issue a certificate of authenticity for you. 😉😅
I don't use BDT. I don't use ANKi. I don't like memorizing. SRS is for remembering -- it doesn't teach. I don't use it. So what? I know that Luca is a polyglot, because I've heard him talk at length in 3 languages (other than Italian) that I know well. Is he fluent? Who cares? 没关系. No importa. N'importe pas. Önemli değil. It is true that being a polyglot doesn't make him a good teacher. I watch his videos to see if he has ideas that help ME. And he does, often enough that I watch ALL his videos.
I'd like to ask you, Mr Lampariello, if it is a good idea to study more than one language at the same time. I'm doing this for German and French, two languages that I like. Meanwhile, I realized that I need to improve my English, so I listen several podcasts in this 3 languages.
I imagine part of the problem is that with any hobby or endeavor, There are always people in it who claim to have some "Secret method" that "really works this time". Of course they want to sell this secret "practically for free".
I listened to your thoughts on Anki and what you do instead. I thought: I can do what he does with reverse translation in Anki. It takes me seconds to make my cards. lol.
All good stuff. However I can tell you my point of view - I only trust those YT polyglots whom I have heard speaking in a language I know. I must admit I am leaving sometimes harsh comments indeed. Not on your channel (yet ;)). I assure you it is not becasue I have pathetic life. I feel that this toxic positivness is truly hurting. Some people watch those guys claiming they learned Korean or Polish in 3 months and reached fluency in 6 (sometimes even in just 3). Then that poor viewer is learning relatively simple language liek English or German and cannot get to B1. Even using those advertised by "polyglots" tools. And they start to think they are dumb. What I like about Luca though is that he says openly - IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT. It will be boring chore at times. And when the video title says 'How to boost a language learning and get fluent fast" the video is about taking intensive course in a country where your target language is spoken. Indeed - there are no shortcuts in language learning. You can use your time better, you can make hard work a bit fun, but that's it. For someone who is not learning foreign language full time B2 is 2 years away. Sorry. So - great piece, thanks for this. I like your attitude that not all criticis is just 'internet hate'. Keep up good work.
How does somebody weave complex intelligent and thoughtful responses to troll comment after troll comment while maintaining an authentic native accent only to stumble on controversy? The man is human after all.
🙋♀ I hereby testify that Luca Lampariello do speak pretty good Hungarian, and I've also heard him live, speaking other languages fluently. 😆 It is really good to see you, guys, and it is also useful to watch the video for content creators. Just to keep in mind that negative comments can build us instead of ruining us. ❤
You are right about the nasty comment- why watch the whole video, then all you can do is complain about it. I am thinking JEALOUSY and lack of commitment! To hell with them, Luca! I have heard from other polyglots about how you don´t retain all of them every day and you do get ´rusty´ when you don´t use them. It´s like anything else you learn- if you don´t use it, you will forget it over time. I am currently learning 5 languages. None of the languages are super easy to learn. Spanish is the easiest of them, Polish is the hardest (my joke about Polish is saying, ´I never thought I would learn a language that makes German seem like a walk in the park¨). Like you, I do it for self-improvement, not to impress people. I enjoy it because it is a supreme challenge to learn them. I just keep thinking how good I will feel when I become fluent in all of them. The languages are French, German, Italian, Polish (only started 2 months ago), and Spanish. My biggest issue is not having the money to pay for tutors or chat sharing programs online, so I do it myself, as well as I can - A LOT of talking to myself! (As a side note, I can´t even count the number or videos I have watched and discarded as cheap quality and nothing much of value! I don´t like flashy, in-your-face videos. Just tell me the information and help me if I need it. That is what you do consistently. Every video of yours that I have watched has been worth taking notes. Keep up the good work. Thanks for all of your videos!!
I love BDT and I actually came up with it myself (or at least something awfully similar to Luca's version of it) and I've been using it for years. Haven't bored myself to tears NOT EVEN ONCE😂
What do you think of this paradox: before remembering a new word, you will have to forget it 7, 10 or more times. So, faster you forget, faster you memorize. What? 🙂
Hey Luca, I'm a Brazilian, and we native Portuguese Brazilian speakers have a hard time when it comes to verb conjugation systems. Even very common verbs like ser (to be), haver (to there be), ouvir (to hear) couse problems to me 😂. So, if even a NATIVE has problems, let alone a polyglot who is trying to learn a foreign language.
I came cross this guy through steve about two years ago and i really like him but if any of you knows the channel of the other guy please send it to me
There are people who are just outright mean for whatever reasons. There are people who are terse and can be misunderstood. There are people who skip and skim and give knee-jerk reactions to things without context. Unfortunately, these types of comments can sneak past our defenses and throw us for a loop. Back when I was a university prof, I learned something about student evaluations. In every class, there were a couple students who thought you were the worst teacher ever and there were a few who thought you were one of the best they ever had. It's what the general consensus that gives the best feedback. FWIW, your content (old articles and some videos) on the importance of starting with the prosody of complete sentences is one of those key insights that had a profound effect on both my pronunciation and language learning in general.
Regarding the very first negative criticism... "the bi-directional translation method seems like it would bore me to tears". God forbid one have even an ounce of discipline or general conscientiousness, right? Oh, no, I have to sit my ass down and work hard for a bit. The world shall end if I do this. Yeah, not really. People who aspire to something but don't have what it takes to improve will sometimes deal with that by tearing others down - or, trying to, anyway.
Leaving nasty comments is a sign of inmaturity. Rather than accepting that someone can have different opinion or use different method, people take it as a personal attack on them. You will learn way more from people that you don't agree with, trying to understand their point of view than from listening to the echo chamber

I don’t care if he makes mistakes or has a level, which micht be lower than expected. He is the one leading by example. Always a big fan of yours, grande Luca!
You and Richard Simcott are one of the best polyglots on the internet
True.
Richard pretended to know Japanese lol
Luca you are really amazing person
My dream is to be a polyglot and I learned few languages till now taking the motivation from your videos.
As a native Spanish speaker I can confirm your Spanish is phenomenal. I genuinely would think you’re from Spain. I aspire to be like you😭
Reacting to unpleasant comments does no more than validate the people who see fit to post anonymous abuse online. They are trolls and best ignored.
Most of these people that make negative comments are trying to make themselves feel better. So sad. Your doing a great job Luca. Thank you.
For "A2" level of English, not bad :P
Ignore the haters Luca. You and the rest of the established Polyglots are an incredible inspiration and motivators for us all. The ones who say you are fake are only jealous of your ability. Keep up the great work and content. Hopefully one day, we can sit down and have a chat. I look forward to that day.
Luca, gracias por brindarnos tanta ayuda e inspiracion...!!!
Luca, you are a great inspiration to me ❤
I have learned a lot form Luca as well. Luca is awesome.
This video actually made me a little sad. Luca, your work has been so inspiring and helpful with my language learning. And I agree that the comments say more about the author than about you.
Luca, you’re the best! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
We L❤️ve you, Luca! So much respect for you!
Haters will always hate... you just keep sharing your journey and inspiring others😉
And last to quote Eckahart Tolle, you are right “What you react to others in ALSO In YOU!❤
Keep it up, you are a great source of inspiration Luca! 🤩
Some people who can't be as good as you find rewarding for themself trying to undermine your passions. Those people are just unsatisfied of their life and they've put themself in a huge negative mood loop. Luca, you have turned your dreams in reality and l look you up for that! 😎
Many people who can't will criticize people who can merely out of jealousy. You can never fix petty , jealous, and stupid behavior.
Luca doesn’t need Anki because his brain is better than ChatGPT. Hard work pays off!
In my opinion you're doing an excellent job. Keep it up! IN FACT, you are one of the best polyglots in the world!
Luca eres tremendo, eres una gran inspiración para muchos en el mundo de los idiomas, me encanta tu relación, adelante hermano.
Grazie! ... LUCA!
I'd like to ask you, Mr Lampariello, if it is a good idea to study more than one language at the same time. I'm doing this for German and French, two languages that I like. Meanwhile, I realized that I need to improve my English, so I listen several podcasts in this 3 languages.
Luca. È il migliore..!!we love you..!!
It is really good to see you, guys, and it is also useful to watch the video for content creators.
Don't take it to heart, Luca - you're a decent man
I don't ;-) In fact, I even find some comments funny 😀
I love BDT and I actually came up with it myself (or at least something awfully similar to Luca's version of it) and I've been using it for years. Haven't bored myself to tears NOT EVEN ONCE😂
What do you think of this paradox: before remembering a new word, you will have to forget it 7, 10 or more times. So, faster you forget, faster you memorize. What? 🙂
Pay no attention to the polygloats.
You da man, Luca!
Great video. Luca is doing a wonderful job sharing knowledge. Both pronunciations of controversy ARE correct, one is British and the other American. 😊
Great job! ❤
I’m curious who the other guy is. Is he a poly? Does he have a channel?
Lucas BDT is a lifesaver! It is the only way I can translate ancient Greek. I am not going to blame Luca's method for my own failings!
True that ;-)
Leaving nasty comments is a sign of inmaturity. Rather than accepting that someone can have different opinion or use different method, people take it as a personal attack on them.
You will learn way more from people that you don't agree with, trying to understand their point of view than from listening to the echo chamber
Controversy -your pronunciation was British English Luca, definitely not wrong 😊
about stress in 'controversy' it seems Americans stress the first syllable whereas Brits stress the second
Luca, your host today was entertaining.
Luca, you shouldn't give a s..., some guys are just envious and nasty. Btw, your Polish is impeccable. Un abbraccio.
I don't 😄Thanks for the kind words!
@@LucaLampariello te lo meriti come nessun altro 💪🏻😉
No mention of the goon from hfp who made about 5hrs of video arguing that Luca wasn't even Italian😂😂
I agree that Luca’s Mandarin is nothing special, but it’s like his 10th best language so people should take that into account.
When you're the Top Dog, you always have haters.
Dude…if we
I'm surprised no one mentioned the " Fake Polyglot Hunter."
Polybusters
I'm a little disappointed. Lol
He’s my hero.
Luca tu no eres de este planeta …verdad ?😂😂
Why would you lower yourself to their level?
I don't ;-)
"Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience" - Mark Twain
La gente que te critica es por envidia😂😅. Quien quisiera hablar 🦜🗣️ tantos idiomas como vos!!!! 😊
