@elmafias6141 yup. I have a big bag of general metal scraps even for my old tin cans. It all adds up. I can pay the local council to take stuff via my taxes and they sell it on for recycling and get paid twice or I can just weigh it in myself and I get the money. Every little helps.
@dr.a006 I often have friends say "I've got an old X if you want it?" Latest item was a gas fire. Full of cast iron, aluminium, bits of copper and brass and then there's the light steel. Vans all loaded and ready to go Monday morning 👍

Brian's advice does work, like in addiction recovery, "one day at a time" literally, if you look too far down the road, you'll be totally overwhelmed and you'll miss what's going on right now. It's very important to stay in the now if you can, it takes practice to do that. When I put myself in the now moment, all my stress goes away.
@@thubprint not sure how much you guys like reading but a few years i read this book "The Power of Now" by eckhart tolle and it really put into perspective the important of taking the day one at a time. Was a great read. Books pretty old and should be avaliable in local libraries or online 😊😊
I grind through the crimp rings on the Pex sideways then turn them off with a flathead. I try not to cut through the plastic so I can reuse the elbows and couplers, if they're clean.
That looks like an iMac, great for aluminum, especially if you find any of the older Apple G5 towers. Apple does use recyclable parts, but it is NOT easily recyclable! Keep on Scrappin'
Some baking soda and dawn dish soap mixed up into hot water and soaked for an hour or dawn power wash soap will get those baking sheets/pans clean. A scrubdaddy will really help too. i saw a dude try to take the copper off a water heater that was already on the pile. they closed him out for what he had dropped, 1/4 of an f250 bed, and ran him off. Yard boss said, If you buy the whole WH, then you can scrap off it and bring it back, but no freebie.
I was so happy to see you finally get to use the tools... But now I am going to make a video with some clarifications for you, but I'll have to find a way to send it to you... Maybe I'll just upload and link it or something... 🤷 In the meantime, DON'T cut through the plastic fittings... The blade won't last... Just get as close to the fitting as possible... Also, you'll find it MUCH easier to cut the pipe if you give it a twist as you squeeze the blade down... In fact, takes very little effort to get the blade to start if you twist the fitting to start the cut... Thing of a knife blade across the palm as opposed to just trying to force it straight down... You'll get the hang of it, and will get much faster... Also, the greatest benefit and effectiveness will be when you find the brass or copper connectors, as the ring cutters work better when they have a more solid fitting to squeeze against... I'll get that video done tomorrow and find a way to get it to you.... KDTT
That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the tips! I’m glad I only had a few of them to do, it would have been a shame to ruin the blade in the first go 😅
Don’t know what camera and mic you use but here is how I make sure I do not forget to turn on the mic for my videos: Everytime I turn the mic off I also unplug it and kind of position the cable in front of the record button so I remember to plug the mic back in and turn it on 😂
Oh that’s actually pretty clever, I’d like to think I would know the mic wasn’t on if the cable was dangling 👌 at the very least if I forgot, I’d still get camera audio rather than NO audio
I saved it! Did I save it? 🤔 idk, I have one in my freezer like that which I found on one of these cruises. I admit I like it a lot, so much better than the silly silicon and plastic ones, I’m always smashing those on the counter trying to free the ice

Thanks! I was excited to do more of them (got myself a fancy-ish mic setup) but I wanna use them conservatively, so unintentionally being forced to do one was a bit annoying haha
True! I meant to mention that but I was talking a lot and that was the bit I left out. I gave them the “fold test”, squashed them in my hands and listened closely to the sound. They didn’t make the tinselly sparkly crackly sound that tin crystals do
Great video once again 💪🏻👍🏻 But I was wondering…can you take those pieces of copper from the scrapyard? Or are you only allowed to dump stuff? Those pipes could easily be recovered with a battery powered grinder or something 😅
Wouldn’t even need power tools, all you’d need is a pipe wrench! It’s best to see it as “once it’s in the pile, it’s hands off”. If there’s something really really special you see, you can always ask them to set it aside and go talk to the people in the scalehouse about selling it to you. But I certainly don’t want them to regularly see me grabbing things here and there and just tossing them into my truck, nor do I want to be out there taking up time and space while vehicles are trying to get through

Just sayin... when it comes to entirely usable (magnetic) stainless steel cookware, utensils etc., would love to see you donate them to your equivalent of Goodwill or something! Must have gotten 10 cents for all that steel. Someone else could use them!
Do you ever come across outboard boat motors? My local yard quoted me 5¢ a lb but it's mostly aluminum so that felt kinda low. Any tips on a basic breakdown of one to boost profit a bit? I'm going to be taking about 50 of them in soon
That’s so many!!! I’ve never had the opportunity to take one apart. I don’t love doing motors as they take a lot of time, but with one of those I’d definitely try to find a large piece of the outer body to bring in as clean alu. Well.. painted alu.
It is definitely a lot. Part of a larger scrap removal job full of wire, aluminum heads , stainless propellers etc. hopefully not too much time and work breaking it down as the deal is 60/40 with the "client" keeping the smaller portion of the take and doesn't want to wait a week for his share. Still on the quest for tips. Can't seem to find anyone that has taken on an outboard for scrap.
Step 1 Load the truck with scrap. Step 2 Let it snow on the truck. Step 3 Bring it to the scrap yard and unload. Step 4 Get paid for bringing snow to the scrap yard. Step 5 Profit. 🤣
I used to think that as well, but the reality is I was just trying to justify my laziness. I make three times as much from steel as I do all the nonferrous hauls combined over the course of a year
I cant bring myself to throw anything metal away anymore. It all gets scrapped now lol😊
