Thank you for your comment. I hope the designers get paid well, but I don't have a way of looking into that aspect. Hi, Tanner. Thank you so much for this video - it is very informative and helps me make an informed decision whether to shop from the Coachtopia line or not. I would love it if you could review any of the Coach's bags from their outlet line, especially the Morgan Shoulder Bag (which is very similar to Tabby 26 from their regular line) and then compare it to your previous findings about the Tabby 26 shoulder bag. Thank you for an overall interesting and very helpful content of your videos.
Leather hide could be cut off into the few layers to make more products. Coach can use the whole hide for their regular line, then cut a layer off for their factory outlet line and the rest of the leather use from the scratch to make the coachtopia. But they definitely should make the price point much lower as their fabric recyclable polyester coachtopia bags for about $200 but, not for $500 for this “leather” bags
Uggh. I wish they made this bag in real leather. So many travel possibilities for a collapsible leather tote. It’d be a game changer. Would consider it at a lower price point.
Loving the pebble leather tote on your website Tanner 😍 I totally agree about using natural sources such as leather that will degrade at the end of their lifespan & have little or no impact on the environment & wildlife. I was looking for a jumper online for my partner. The company I do focus group work for have one made from 100% polyester. Don’t get me started on synthetic fabrics! An online UK wool business I will purchase a jumper from for him have the same style in 100% new wool. Not only is it cheaper, the business supports British sheep farmers buying wool directly from them & manufacturing in the UK, they also offer a repair service too. I believe people need to appreciate craftsmanship, quality natural materials & support companies small & big that are truly passionate about the environment & the impact of manufacturing.
Thank you for your comment - I do my line of PEGAI goods from the minimally finished leathers I find around the world from various specialty tanneries. One thing you will enjoy for sure is the natural feel of leather in my designs. And such a great example of natural materials making much superior choice in many fields when we consider all parties involved and the long term impact of our purchase decisions.
Thank you for your reply Tanner. I have shared a link to your channel & website with my sewing class ladies & also my friends. We all appreciate skills, craftsmanship & high quality materials & products. Fast fashion & mass production has a huge impact on our environment & wildlife. I wish people would make a concerted effort to consider this in their purchasing. I bought a wool stuffed mattress & down bedding, not only is it environmentally friendly but, due to being natural products they are warm in winter & cool in summer, something synthetic products cannot achieve. Leather also an amazing material, the variety of uses from butter soft gloves to strong saddlery & hard wearing upholstery. I love the way leather ages over time & retains its quality & strength. PU peels, goes sticky or looks shabby within a few years. I’d much rather purchase leather products, that although are seen as expensive they will last many decades & are an investment that works out cheaper long term. Excellent, informative video. It seems most publicly traded companies are making decisions based on profit and not product quality. How disappointing! Has Coach changed their CEO lately? Greetings from Santa Barbara.
thank you for your support! Unfortunately, most large corporations has to become solely driven by profit goals and that dynamic leads legacy brands to take weird actions at times. What's worse is that the manufacturer doesn't reveal that some of it is PU. I have been a huge COACH fan for many years and I appreciate your efforts to educate us. Many Thanks!

Coach is owned by Tapestry a public company. They have to adhere to the now vague and all encompassing SEC ESG rules and are given a ESG score. Public companies are struggling with either get a higher score for shareholders or alienate customers. It is not often possible to do both get a high score and really making a difference. The flip side of trying to increase your ESG score is the risk of alienating your customer base like Budweiser and Target. I think Coach’s up-crafted bags, taking used bags and restoring them for a second life, is true to Coach and eliminating waste. I think Coachtopia is an attempt to increase a ESG score further and the high cost is an attempt to recoup the money it is spending on production to create these bags to get a higher score. Hopefully they see videos like yours and spend more time on restoring bags, like the projects you make with bag scraps and move away from bags created in a lab. I think they could then create unique one of a kind pieces with real quality leather and could then sell those bags for higher prices and they would be worth it. Great Video!
I was in the market for a coach bag because I don’t have any luxury bags. I also was interested in this collection because they were really cute designs, this just made me buy the upcrafted leather bag instead of the coachtopia leather! The upcrafted leather ones look more durable too. Edit: after buying one, I saw that both designs of the large upcrafted leather have sold out!

I've got a suggestion - supposedly sheepskin products. Like Ugg slippers and boots, or LLBean wicked good slippers. The descriptions say things like "premium shearling lining" and "made with superior sheepskin," "sherpa lining," "UGGpure wool lining." If something is sheepskin, why does in need to have another leather on the other side? Why not just use one solid piece that's leather on one side and woolly on the other? I have a pair of winter boots by Blackstone that I'm pretty sure are real double-sided sheepskin, but i also have a more casual pair of Ugg winter boots that i purposely got because i wanted the super warmth of sheepskin and it sounded like they were real sheepskin on the website. Reading between the lines of the tags when i got them, the lining is wool made to look like sheepskin and mixed with other fibres. I feel like brands are purposely vague in their description of sheepskin/shearling/sherpa/wool products. The UGG Adirondack III boot proudly boasts a "sheepskin lining" - but the details say the lining is either 80% upcycled wool and 20% lyocell or 60% upcycled wool and 40% lyocell - how is that sheepskin?
This is a great idea. Having different varieties for different people. I love it even the price it's coach opening their horizons can't wait til I can afford a louis 😂
When I buy ‘coach’ I want COACH! Coachtopia is Not for me!!!! I am sitting here waiting for my Coach Tabby 26 to be delivered! I pray it’s worth what a know I over-paid for! I did check it out in the store, they just didn’t have the one I wanted! 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks for making this video I also felt left in the dark with the very vague descriptions. Wasn't clear on if the entire bag was assembled with scraps or if it was bonded leather. Definitely will be skipping on this bag from Coach. The quality just isn't there for the price point.
Honestly disappointing that Coach decided to use new plastic to create products instead of just using old leather scraps. This just creates more unnecessary waste, and is anything BUT environmentally friendly.
Thank you for the very informative deep-dive. I would like to think Coach was doing some of this from a good place but unfortunately seems to be a bit of a money grab and an attempt to attract younger customers. Don't get me wrong, still a Coach fan, most of their other products are great quality. This whole initiative just seems misguided and disappointing.
I think the Coachtopia leather is the most disappointing and "greenwashing". The upcrafted ones i find quite delightful and funky - i think they'd be better off selling them as a line on their main site and drop the Coachtopia label entirely. Innvoative plant based leathers (NOT PLASTIC) would also be a cool initiative.
Much respect lost to Coach, years of building trust have been broken. Coach need to remove people in their company that have severed the customer’s trust and rethink their priorities.
Well they inform you that this is a different kind of material - it is not like they sneak it in. So yeah being disappointed about their new approach but they didn’t just replace the material in their leather bags and sold it off as real leather. No trust was broken with me just the certainty not to buy this kind of bag.
@@irenehopfner4915 Yes Coach did mention a “different “ material was being used but they were very vague about exactly what the material construction was. It took a professional deconstruction to work out exactly what it was. That’s what makes it unacceptable.
This seems like such a misstep for Coach. Were they so eager to jump on the bandwagon of the latest trends of sustainability that they didn’t think this through? Is Coachtopia salvageable or should they scrap this concept altogether?
Thank you. I was wondering why these bags was so pricey almost as their boutique bags… These hip colors is so deceiving…just to sell them. I agree it should be cheaper and just be honest with their customers. As a Coach collector for years.. it’s disappointing to hear this. Hopefully they will update their Coachtopia… thanks for shedding some light on these ❤Please do more outlet bags from Coach, Kate Spades, Tory Burch…I need to stop buying them 😅😅 Give us reasons.. Thanks ❤
Why didn’t they just make a bag out of pleather and be honest about it? There’s plenty of vegetarians and vegans who would love to buy a coach designed bag
Coach "greenwashing" a whole line is disappointing but not surprising. They've been pushing for a high Blackrock ESG score for some time. It's obvious and a little hypocritical. And I love Coach! I just see through the charade
So coachtopia leather bags are like basically Louis Vuitton bags. Body of the bag is not leather but the accents are leather??? lol. Just like Louis Vuitton canvas bags. That’s how I see it.

The UGG Adirondack III boot proudly boasts a "sheepskin lining" - but the details say the lining is either 80% upcycled wool and 20% lyocell or 60% upcycled wool and 40% lyocell - how is that sheepskin?
I sent my bag to Coach Repair and they lost it and lied about it for months.
There’s nothing praiseworthy about labeling plastic bags as “leather” and charging almost $500 for them. 🤣 You’re too kind.
I've been seeing vintage versions of that pink bag everywhere lately.
What about coach outlet bags? Ive bought the outlet bags but theyre quiet good.
Cute bag ❤
the design is cute indeed!
Great information. 👍 ❤
Hello Tanner;
Can you tell me which good quality brands for bag men you recommend? Thank you!

This is a great idea. Having different varieties for different people. I love it even the price it's coach opening their horizons can't wait til I can afford a louis 😂
Please take a look at Massimo Dutti bags.
Thanks for your suggestion, I will look into it!
Interesting. Could you get a look at Vanessa Bruno

Can you please tell us if Charles and Keith uses real leather? Thanks
Yes, thanks! 🌻
This is a reply to anthrax pretzels.
Can you review Been London please?
Thanks for making this video I also felt left in the dark with the very vague descriptions. Wasn't clear on if the entire bag was assembled with scraps or if it was bonded leather. Definitely will be skipping on this bag from Coach. The quality just isn't there for the price point.
Great review as always. Would you look into their Rouge Brief? Is it actually suede on the inside and what the heck is regenerative leather?
Can you do a review on Aspinal of London?
4:15 you said it’s leather dust? So is it leather then? Did you inspect it under the microscope?
It's not pure leather. It's more like covered with leather particles. That's how I understood him.
Honestly disappointing that Coach decided to use new plastic to create products instead of just using old leather scraps. This just creates more unnecessary waste, and is anything BUT environmentally friendly.
Can u review a Furla bag?
Thank you!
will you ples review sezane bags
Dooney and Bourke Alto leather
Sounds like rebranded "leather composite" (glued shredded leather scrap).
Review Coach IT Bag now, Empire 40 or 48 bag is out of stock everywhere
I've been seeing that! I'll see if I can get one once I have more time. Thanks for the suggestion!
I like that you reviewed this product unbiased. ❤I appreciate your thorough approach. Coachtopia is GARBAGE with designer prices.
I’m so sad I discovered this video after I just got 2 of their ergo bags😭 i wish i just got 1 polene bag instead of them
Coach's regular line are great but I am not a fan of their Coachtopia line 😅
chanel 22 bag 😂 perhaps also bonded leather 😂 ?
Yup bonded leather I feel so lied too, but it's the only way to get that uniformity of material, sad coach sad
Reason i'll never buy a bag made of regenerative leather, especially I don't even know or understand what exactly it is made of. 😅
Like he said: same as leather but from "regenerative farms". So it's basically same as real leather just that cows are supposedly treated better.
It's leather. The farming practices are supposedly better. Kinda like organic vs non organic.
Busted 😅
People are so dramatic with this trendy cancel culture lol
Hey Dennis ,leather has been used for its durability since the start of man kind ,not because it’s trendy.
