And of course they always have dialog overlapping transitions causing you to lose plot while frantically trying to turn down their audionukage.. just in time to now miss what someone mumbled.. so.. up volume, rewind, replay, up volume, replay, up volume, replay until you find the right volume to hear what you discover is a pointless line, then .. *BOOOOOMMM* rinse and repeat. I stopped halfway through a tiny vid to post this, how's that help your for Fourth Wall, Suspension of Disbelief, Plot Awareness, Continuity..etc? Never mind what interrupting the viewer does to your original grab Hook, Immersion and Engagement.. Is it some kind of Federal Law I don't know about? How do they have the technology to FX stunningly realistically visual SciFi shxt but can't equalize their goddamn audio? Do they feel their story, plot, development, acting, FX, and presentation is so unstable that they MUST resort to juvenile attention getting techniques reminiscent of CHILDRENS' CEREAL COMMERCIALS? grrr you!

I always watch the intro knowing it's got a sad ending that pulls big tears out of me , today I've watched it completely and it broke my heart again ....
I rarely down vote, but this time, I certainly did! I had to keep adjusting the volume up and down throughout, to hear the dialog then to not have my ears blasted by the musical score!
I really enjoyed this but I was so frustrated by the low audio. There were countless times when I had to watch the same parts with the sound all the way up trying to understand the dialogue.
I really don't get the story here... Did he abandon the mission to be with the woman, like it showed, or did he stay in the hibernation chamber, follow through with the mission, and end up growing old, like it showed?
He was on the ship and had a dream he got off. In the end he goes to the hospital where it shows the woman lived her life and had 2 girls. He says where do I began. He is about to tell her what space was like. As she requested earlier in the video.
I really liked the story, especially the ending. It gave some very good feels. A lot of people are commenting on the audio level. I agree that it is very quiet in comparison to the music and could have stood a little bumping. I don't have a complaint about the woman having an accent since it's not like every person has to speak perfect English to be a good actor, and her emotion in the elevator was amazing. I think the point of the audio suddenly going dull for a while after the second dose is that his body is shutting down and he can't hear properly anymore, thus the ringing sound and the difficulty hearing their conversation. Though still low, everything is a lot clearer once you get past that scene.
While it is within the realm of possibility that this may have seemed somewhat less silly had I been able to hear some of the dialogue, I think enough got through for me to strongly suspect that it may have been a blessing. The likelihood that one of these will have closed captioning is inversely proportional to how badly one needs it.
Wow, how frustrating. Looks great, but the sound was retched. Could only get about 75% of the lines, and that's not because of accents. Thank you, next.

I was thinking the same thing. The levels were horrible. If you set the volume so you can hear the dialogue, you get an ear-blast when the overly melodramatic music kicks in.

Unfortunately, the commenter,who asked if this was written by a twelve year old girl, was near the mark. An adolescent love story placed in an adult situation. Real astronauts, would never be allowed to engage in a sexual relation pre-flight. They would have prepared for this multi-billion dollar mission for years, would be strictly disciplined professionals and never let their emotions turn them to mush. However, as a little girl's fantasy, it works quite well and the filming and acting are well done. Thanks for the film.
They are human beings, not robots, and the professionals at NASA and in the military understand that it is not possible, or wise, to attempt to control the human heart. For example, in the military, fraternization between officers and enlisted is forbidden, yet marriage is allowed. So, how is it possible to marry if they never mingle and date? It’s because those in charge are not unwise enough to get in the way of the human heart. They can discourage romantic involvement through rules, but if love flares even the friggin generals are wise enough to step aside and get out of the way. Also, please stop denigrating the fantasies of young girls. No one mocks the fantasies of boys. So the syringe to revive him is empty and left on a table at take off by the way. Even on a plane they make you lift the tray for landing and take off. But besides that. He dreams to have made it out to be with her but in reality he is going to be awake for the trip. Did he or did he not inject him self with the awakening syringe? If so why is he sleeping? He moved his hand. His body was not even strapped down with some belt. Who was the old person supposed to be? Her? How if he left? Did he leave? Why was she old and he was not? Who's kids were those? What a disaster. No matter how one flips it, it makes no sense.
Traveling at 99% the speed of light for about 7 years would be 60 years earth time. He left. He returned. He had barely aged. She was old & dying. The syringe is irrelevant.
This is a nice presentation, a sort of dreamy version of a very simple story. I think the ending could have been just a smidgen clearer and more powerful emotionally, but it's a nice enough job and kudos to everyone involved.
Really? this needs to be explained? ok Just before the last injection takes total effect, he hears what she says to him. His brain willed him self to take the antidote even though it was to late, he was physically out cold. The last thing his mind could focus on was creating the life he would have once he gets out of the capsule and professes his undying love to the woman. Fifty years go by, he returns to earth and wakes up to the reality of his actually going on the mission and his "life" was nothing but a dream. So he goes and finds the love of his life that is now fifty years older and seemingly on her death bed as he holds her hand the camera focuses on a picture of her and two children. Now is the older child his from their one night together? or was it hers from another relationship? that's up to you the viewer to decide. Personally I liked it and thought it was well done.

I'm a Sci-Fi fan but this ending leaves me scratching my logic banks! The music overplayed the voices. Not good. Not a bad film concept but the script left much confusion and unanswered questions.
I thought it was very clear. On the launch he was in a dream state dreaming that he left the launch. Infact he did go up, was there for 50 years, apparently without that noteble change excepted the beard. Came back went to the girl's bed at hospital who at this point had two kids and was going to tell her his story as told before. The end.

The accent was too thick to be clearly understood over the audio mix. They could have compressed he voice a bit to ensuree the volume was sufficient or ducked it so as music got louder the vocal would always push above it and lower the music.
For me it was not the accent , which I found beautiful to listen to, which made not being able to hear it at the most pivotal time even more frustrating.
1. They didn't wait 5 minutes. 2. Having a doctor/patient relationship should still be wrong, since she clearly cannot control her emotional involvement.

So, the picture on the stand in the hospital room shows 2 children. I assume their his (and hers, of course) but, if they're supposed to be twins, they don't look the same age. Does the girl look bigger because she's sitting on her mom's knee?
She had them with someone else. She went on with her life. Not sure where that guy is when she's in the hospital. Probably in the hall, counting down the five minutes he gave him to be with her. Or dead.
If “everybody but you” is having audio trouble then, unless the target audience is persons with exceptional hearing, the audio is genuinely problematic.

Were they injecting a horse? Lol. Btw, he should've been screaming in pain during the cryogenic scene since he was awake. And he left the rocket so who was inside? His clone? Cut to the end and it appears that he did go up...too confusing! Also the set was like something out of the 60s. Reminds me of the improv sets used in the original Star Trek series like paper for the resonance flowers on Talos IV etc.

Your sound levels for this are all over the board. Increasing music volume during conversations is horrible, the music should be in the background and help set the mood for conversation rather than drown out dialogue.
Very difficult for me to tell what was happening because I could not make out much of what was being said. I tried to turn on sub-titles, but alas, there were none. :-(

It's called a dream sequence. Anyway... Why wouldn't he have been able to groom his beard either while in space or when he returned before he saw her? A beard to look older is much cheaper than makeup & prosthetics, it would seem. If 50 years had passed on Earth, he would have been gone about 7-8 years (ship time). Not weeks. Assuming travel at 99% s.o.l.

They don't seem to have done very good QA on the suspended animation process. First of all, he starts gasping after the second injection. How many times did they test this? Second, when he does start gasping, they're all baffled and helpless. Someone needs to be fired.
The poor audio combined with the unclear accent made the video unwatchable. I stopped watching it about halfway through as it was just a waste of my time.
I wish that I could understand what they are saying. It appears that this may be a good video! But the audio mix completely put the film in ruin by running the actors dialog being in the background (or washed out by the music). I expected to be watching a film of interest to me written and directed by someone! I didn't expect to forced to listen to what appears to be someone's music being promoted.

This is a nice presentation, a sort of dreamy version of a very simple story. I think the ending could have been just a smidgen clearer and more powerful emotionally, but it's a nice enough job and kudos to everyone involved.
any other people see the hr was at 67bpm? normal is 60-100bpm and drops below that at resting for athletes

Really? this needs to be explained? ok Just before the last injection takes total effect, he hears what she says to him. His brain willed him self to take the antidote even though it was to late, he was physically out cold. The last thing his mind could focus on was creating the life he would have once he gets out of the capsule and professes his undying love to the woman. Fifty years go by, he returns to earth and wakes up to the reality of his actually going on the mission and his "life" was nothing but a dream.
So he goes and finds the love of his life that is now fifty years older and seemingly on her death bed as he holds her hand the camera focuses on a picture of her and two children. Now is the older child his from their one night together? or was it hers from another relationship? that's up to you the viewer to decide.
Personally I liked it and thought it was well done.
Ok, I guess I'm kind of dense, but I didn't really understand this video. Did he go into hibernation and did not age, but she did?
that was the idea that i got. But how was he apparently in two places at once -- with her after take off, then attending her in his youth 50 (?) years later.
I'm a Sci-Fi fan but this ending leaves me scratching my logic banks! The music overplayed the voices. Not good. Not a bad film concept but the script left much confusion and unanswered questions.
I thought it was very clear. On the launch he was in a dream state dreaming that he left the launch. Infact he did go up, was there for 50 years, apparently without that noteble change excepted the beard. Came back went to the girl's bed at hospital who at this point had two kids and was going to tell her his story as told before. The end.
Mati mizfit: She had HIS kids - twins. He now has children who are older than him. When he says, “Where do I start?” it was both a statement and a question: “Where do you want me to start telling you about my adventures?”, as well as asking for advice, “Where do I start in getting to know my children and being a father?” It’s a double entendre.

The accent was too thick to be clearly understood over the audio mix. They could have compressed he voice a bit to ensuree the volume was sufficient or ducked it so as music got louder the vocal would always push above it and lower the music.
For me it was not the accent , which I found beautiful to listen to, which made not being able to hear it at the most pivotal time even more frustrating.

I love DUST and many, if not most, of the videos they post. Critiques should be considered valued feedback and encouraged. This video certainly has glaring audio problems and without that acknowledgement how are the authors (or other film makers) supposed to learn?

So, the picture on the stand in the hospital room shows 2 children. I assume their his (and hers, of course) but, if they're supposed to be twins, they don't look the same age. Does the girl look bigger because she's sitting on her mom's knee?
She had them with someone else. She went on with her life. Not sure where that guy is when she's in the hospital. Probably in the hall, counting down the five minutes he gave him to be with her. Or dead.

If “everybody but you” is having audio trouble then, unless the target audience is persons with exceptional hearing, the audio is genuinely problematic.

The middle part was hallucination. The last part was when he returned years later to tell her all about his trip. He was not regretful.

Also the set was like something out of the 60s. Reminds me of the improv sets used in the original Star Trek series like paper for the resonance flowers on Talos IV etc.

I think it's people who didn't use earphones who have the trouble. I had perfect sound .
Watched this on the TV Dust channel. It was easier to follow. An emotionally moving short film.

Your sound levels for this are all over the board. Increasing music volume during conversations is horrible, the music should be in the background and help set the mood for conversation rather than drown out dialogue.

Nobody gives injections that way. She didn't even wipe his arm with alcohol first. And why was the antidote so far away? The seemingly poor audio was to show us that his hearing was failing.

They also never addressed how the rocket was going to return. They said a 50 year journey but that's 25 years each way.
He somehow spontaneously generated a doppelganger who had a life with the reasonably cute Polish chick but completed his mission with a six week bad beard and stroked her old aged hand? wtf?

A beard to look older is much cheaper than makeup & prosthetics, it would seem.
If 50 years had passed on Earth, he would have been gone about 7-8 years (ship time). Not weeks. Assuming travel at 99% s.o.l.

Very well done. 👍 Only have a headset Cause my neighbor is crazy and complained that my iPad and/or speaking at night kept him up after 11:00 P.M. and recorded me talking to my Mom at midnight. My building, “You want to hear the recording? “ Me, “No!” (And now officially creeped out that someone stood out on the balcony to record me speaking at night to my Mom.). Idea for a film: Crazy Neighbors... How far is too far?
Single Mom and this is my only downtime; watching a couple shorts before I turn in for the night. I could barely hear my own device at night but neighbor was recording me. I can’t speak on my own balcony, now, because I never know if this man is recording me. 😢💙.

They don't seem to have done very good QA on the suspended animation process. First of all, he starts gasping after the second injection. How many times did they test this? Second, when he does start gasping, they're all baffled and helpless. Someone needs to be fired.

I wish that I could understand what they are saying. It appears that this may be a good video! But the audio mix completely put the film in ruin by running the actors dialog being in the background (or washed out by the music). I expected to be watching a film of interest to me written and directed by someone! I didn't expect to forced to listen to what appears to be someone's music being promoted.

I can't understand what everybody is complaining about, the sound was fine for me. As for the people who said that they wanted subtitles because they didn't understand what the girl was saying....give me a break!
