VERY captivating story, directing, writing, and acting! Everyone who participated in this film should be praised for thier excellent work. Loved the post credits ending!
@Peter A. Yes, Hollywood has a lot to answer for lately with it's movies, which are nothing more than visual chewing gum. But that doesn't detract from the fact that this was an unimaginatively poor and lazy story, with about as much appeal & substance as the vacuum surrounding the two weak and aimless characters. Harsh? Yes. But justified, as too many recent shorts similar to this one populate the plethora of banal shite out there around now.
You can tell that making assisting equipment in France may cause scientific troubles along the way :) If the robot were made in Germany on the other hand, it would be no problem.

I can’t remember the last time I cried at a movie.. This had me balling, because I knew, I KNEW.... No spoilers, but thank you all for this!! It’s so beautiful.
On my personal "Dust scale" I have to give it a 10/10. Actors, story, music, FX, settingand credit takes, we even have a cliffhanger - it's all a gem for me, just "Wow!"
This is film-making at another level. So vastly superior to the typical big-budget Hollywood offering. Excellent acting and cinematography. Well-scripted, original and thought-provoking.

Is there a single Dust Short Film involving a relationship between an AI and a human in which it doesn't result in one of them dying? Genuinely asking, want to watch.
Well, she apparently didn't actually die. If you watched through the credits, she seems to have uploaded her consciousness into his neural link. Outpost has become one of my absolute favorite sci-fi shorts of all time, it's one of those rare short films that manages to truly draw you in & hold you there. I would have loved to see this film's story expanded into a full length motion picture, as I believe that all of the plot elements were securely in place, and both actors would have brought even more to their characters in a longer production. In fact, were I in charge of a film studio, I honestly believe that I could reach a better, more positive conclusion to funding a film project by use of a short film, rather than a boring film treatment. In fact, I believe that those in charge of deciding whether a film project should be funded or not, should actually be fairly constant readers, as readers conceptualize better with their mind's eye and their imagination, which is what allows them to immerse themselves into a story much more proficiently than those who only read occasionally or worse, very seldom.
If I had the money, I'd throw my wallet at you guys. Premium content created, and freely given. Hollywood could stand to learn a few (hundred) things from y'all. 😁👍
Hollywood has enough aspiring Michael Bay wannabes to make awful, poorly written stories that can only stand on their visual effects, to last ten life times. They don't need anymore

Okay....whoever did the casting for this film was a GENIUS. This couple was so beautiful and they had amazing romantic chemistry! You could practically feel it crackling between them!
Excelent, an amazing vision of the future, the human being and possible extraterrestrial life. This video was about love and compassion and hope.... I'm so impressed...
This sort of reminds me of a Classic " Twilight Zone " where a human man is sent to a prison planet but is given a female robot to keep him company . But when his sentence time is up he had forgotten that she was still a robot and had fallen in love with her . The Captain told him that they were short on fuel and had a weight restriction and the robot was too heavy to take off with and then shot the robot . Sending the now former prisoner into deep shock .
Of course if they shot that Twilight Zone now instead of back then, the captain, after shooting the Android, would have reached in and pulled out hair databank, handed it to the guy, and said, "here dumbass, that's all you need. Now drop a deuce in the sand to make up the weight difference, then we'll get going!" I really kind of fell in love with that actress too. That was either the very first or only the second Twilight Zone episode ever filmed-- on location in Death Valley.
Beautiful. I’d love to read the story, watch the movies, that gives life to the entire story. Very nice work, including two talented actors. Thank you.
Very well done in every way. Great effects and outstanding acting! Bravo! One of the best DUST has ever had. This is the future. One day we will love a machine and it will love us back!
I love how you made a strong story, a strong female character, with no SJW overtones. Rian Johnson, JarJar Abrams, and Kathleen Kennedy should be taking lessons from you. Keep making great films like this one!
I've never commented before. This was a wonderful lesson in more than one way. What is intelligent life and what is love. Two fundamental questions humanity will always argue about. Good art and good imagination. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I love this short. Congrats!
This short was pretty amazing for a low budget film --it had all the elements I love: believable AI; tricky moral Qs; 1st Contact story (or at least a 'contact' story); cool tech; and even some tear-jerking romance. Well done!
It's one of the most ridiculous but very well made utterly controlled short movies I ever saw in such a SciFi series. Viewers aren’t allowed to think by themselves for even 1 single second. Even the music is subtitled so you KNOW what you should to feel by each background sound. The story itself is such a heap of erratic and unforeseen events, your “mind” keep being busy the whole time. In short: a perfect example of full control, so real feelings are overwhelmed. At the same time it’s a fantastic parody on exactly that what the story is about: what makes us human. Every subject of the movie confirms it: the quality of the visuals, the scientific tools shown and used. The perfect "integrity" of what can’t be evaluate nor foreseen, the timings, the totally random events fully conducted with one or two sentences to give it a glimpse of possible coherence, and even the sounds used. But… humanity, dear filmmaker, is about making adequate FREE CHOICES, even when watching a movie. Nevertheless as the totality is so well made I’ll honour your craftsmanship and inventiveness as well as your attempt to express the main subject used: LOVE.
There was a Spark on his Neural link at the End.... So I am Looking forward to a Continuation or at least a Part Two... This SHOULD NOT be the end of this Great Film...
Unfortunately Hollywood is all about programming the masses into their belief systems. They want us scared and stupid.
Hollywood has enough aspiring Michael Bay wannabes to make awful, poorly written stories that can only stand on their visual effects, to last ten life times. They don't need anymore
AvatarOfSGRA Shaperofthings for sure
Excellent comment 👌🏼👍🏼
HOLLYWOOD BLOWS
This needs to be a feature length film.
I really wish that Dust would allow closed captions on their videos. Dialog isn't loud enough.
Most of them have captions. Maybe because these are new, they don't have it transcripted yet. But, I'm seing more and more videos with no subtitles and I skip them without watching.
what are you people listening with? i have no problem hearing the dialog at all
@@MobileFilmmaking I can hear it if I boost the sound, but then the other sounds, FX and ambient, also shoot up to high levels.
Just allow CC and it's OK by me.
@@perihelion7798 are you listening on the phone or a tv?
@@perihelion7798 and I'm not trying to be an asshole, ive posted short films and I get some of the same comments even though i test it before posting on my phone and tv.. so I'm simply trying to diagnose what people are using in. order to better my own audio
I wasn't ready for that scream........
It seems that even in sci-fi shorts, people will stand and watch when they're meant to be escaping.
Better writing in this movie than anything Hollywood has produced since 1984.......Great work.

Excellent film, with characters you care about and a genuine love story set in space.
Well done to the team who made this, bravo you should be making feature films, this is better than alot of high budget shows.
Good film. His grief was palpable I felt it. She downloaded herself into his head. Well when he says he can hear voices, it’s really true.
The acting was magnificent!
captivating and most entertaining. left me wanting more.

Perfect ending?
Didn't the dark get hold of the computer drive, after he threw it on the deck?
Who's to say they aren't using her to trace him?
I am convinced that DUST stands for Depressing Unsatisfactory Situational Termination. But I can't stop watching them.
When you are tired of stories being rewritten to always have a happy ending, DUST them away.
No I'm not crying - it's just a bit of Dust in my eye.... 😢 This was an amazing short - the acting was brilliant and the visuals were spot-on. Loved the storyline too - fantastic! More please!! 🥰
Okay....whoever did the casting for this film was a GENIUS. This couple was so beautiful and they had amazing romantic chemistry! You could practically feel it crackling between them!
Producer's wife is a great actress.
Excelent, an amazing vision of the future, the human being and possible extraterrestrial life. This video was about love and compassion and hope.... I'm so impressed...
How's my pulse?

My breathing?
Fine
And my prostate?

Nicely done. Only complaint... it was too short!
How can one not fall in love with ARIA when she is played so wonderfully by such an attractive person as Ryann Turner... really enjoyed this!
Now drop a deuce in the sand to make up the weight difference, then we'll get going!"
I really kind of fell in love with that actress too. That was either the very first or only the second Twilight Zone episode ever filmed-- on location in Death Valley.
I remember watching that episode
This is what sci-fis should be like.
This got a WHOLE lot more interesting when she turned around and started walking away from him! 💃

I felt the exact same way when my toaster died.
Aww when he let go and held onto her ❤️ 😭
That part hit me. And when he screamed in the cockpit.
Beautiful. I’d love to read the story, watch the movies, that gives life to the entire story. Very nice work, including two talented actors. Thank you.
This was excellent! Beautifully acted and directed, and it looked amazing. More please!
Some of these are so good I want them to go on longer, or have sequels.
best film on Dust for quite some time.
Top notch. Great storyline, great acting, and great special effects. Make a continuing series.
Less than a minute into this and thinking "that's a proper Sci-fi opening soundtrack"
Wow. Just wow. One of the best Dust short films in a while. It was so well done, with a great story and actors.
Very well done in every way. Great effects and outstanding acting! Bravo! One of the best DUST has ever had. This is the future. One day we will love a machine and it will love us back!
The key message from this clip for me is that sometimes we have to let go what we love to save them
This should be a full length movie or series
Sci-fi at its best. Much better than the supposed blockbuster Hollywood gives us.
Loved it!! Great story, acting, directing, et all!!! Great job guys!!!
They love each other. I love that.
I love how you made a strong story, a strong female character, with no SJW overtones. Rian Johnson, JarJar Abrams, and Kathleen Kennedy should be taking lessons from you. Keep making great films like this one!
One of the best sci fi shorts I've seen on Dust ..... a very compelling watch.
Simply the best. Excellent on every level. Amazing production, that looked like it cost millions. Disney, eat your heart out!
Thank you so much for the link Justin and sharing this phenomenal viewing experience. The short blew me away-I only wish there was more!
This has an element of Alex Garland and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine. Excellent short.
Wow... Loved it . felt it . this was great
I've never commented before.
Well done!
OMG shes with him !!! Loved it !!
Our love of machines will be real. I already feel affection for a dumb machine such as a car.
I love this. LOL both of the characters share an aspect of my name! I'm definitely attached to this project LMAO
LOL
When Aria became a part of Gordon its Arianna Gordon.
Well done. Dust needs more of this quality.
Good alien design, it's always good to see completely alien looking species.
Isn't this design about 80 years old? Blobbish tentacular naked invertebrate?
One of the best Dust videos I’ve ever watched!!!
The girl's eyes are beautiful. I love the way she looks at him.
Her everything is beautiful - she's 1 of the hottest chics to ever walk the earth
Especially the blinking red ones ...
shes sooo sweet...
Never fall in love with a toaster.
Yes I saw the Brave Little Toaster too. Luckily, I didn't have to pay to see it in the movie theater.

Dust short films in a word: Awesome!!
When she said Gordon I lost it..😥
It's one of the most ridiculous but very well made utterly controlled short movies I ever saw in such a SciFi series.
Congrats team OUTPOST! A labor of love (I was the Costume Designer)
You are easily responsible for a lot of that booty!
I love her costume, how it subtly makes her look thinner, too. Very nice work!
