Nick and Lex, i knew that this music would excite you! I have been listening to them for a couple years now! They have some brilliant records. Their last two veered more towards the metal side. I think you guys did a couple songs from those! This album is a really great combination of all the sounds but is not just retread. It is so fresh sounding! I wish you guys would do this whole album! It is worth your time! One of the most exciting records for me personally in quite some time! I can tell this song peak your interest and i am thrilled You loved it! Thanks for being you and for being such great friends! Love you
This album is amazing. Fauna - Each song on the album represents a different animal. Every song sounds completely separate from the rest of the album. Haken has got a knack for those polyrhythms doing so much while at the same time sounding ethereal and atmospheric. I have not heard a band be able to do that better. On top of that Ross' vocals and the choice of melodies.
Fantastic! Hey...Doug has an interview with Ross Jennings, and I think it is on his TH-cam page. Exciting to hear new music that is also very good and creative.
@@NicknLex this song's animal on display is a unicorn 🦄. you'll see a little influence visually (white horses, "paper dreams", origami) if you end up seeing the music video in the future
@@NicknLex Trumpet? . . . I seem to only remember "Saxophones" 🤔(saxophone by Dick Morrissey on "Love Theme", who was an English Jazz musician and composer).
That was really good! It’s different than what I usually listen to, but I can see myself getting into them! In French it’s « la faune & la flore », 1 letter apart from Spanish…
If you play various Mozart melodies to listeners and ask them to sing them back... they will always add notes as Mozart was a master of the "implied melody." The form is so masterful as it invites the listener to be part composer. That's how I felt about the Woo today. Technically, it wasn't there. Yet it was strongly implied.
By implied, do you mean - many streams of melody? Because that is what Haken is all about. Also poly rhythms are greatly exposed, harmonies overlapping, even with change of rhythm. Also, changing tempo within an interval is a thing too.
@@petegrusky2715 By implied I mean the melody listeners thought they heard was literally not in the music. The context Mozart created around his melodies made the listeners thought they were present when they were not. And that's partly what made him a genius. He created enough space in his compositions as to invite others to participate in the moment...and become actively involved.
There was span of years were these specific bands and others would do the whole "hey" and "Woohoo" thing. Literally every band did it. There is even videos on TH-cam about it.
I was a bit disappointed with their Vector album, and I never even tried Virus, but this seems to harken back to The Mountain (my fave!), maybe mixed a bit with Affinity. And I approve!! Listened to this song for the first time a couple of days ago, and definitely need to check out the entire album. I think Haken has returned!!! (edit: Just realized the song I heard the other day was "Elephants Never Forget". But they are both great!)
Speaking of prog, you guys NEED to check out the new Riverside album, it is really good! Start out with "Friend or Foe", it has the signature Riverside sound combined with 80's era Aha and Rush vibes. But the whole album is amazing.
So to make sure . . . I just watched 3 introductions from 2019 thru 2022 of Haken on the "Cruise to the Edge" tours. By the venue host, and by an English fan (the band is from England), they all pronounce it "Like Bacon". So its official :D. One of these days, you'll have to hear their 1st 3 albums or cuts off of them. They were very much like an "English Dream Theatre" (

Very well put! This album is dense with sound! I hear new things all the time after repeated listens! I am in love with this album! Cheers to you!
I just found out about this band a coupe of days ago, and I completely with you on not hearing a band able to do it better! They're soooo refreshing!

Fauna is an Album that grows with the time. IMO one of their best Albums. Look at the Cover Artwork, awesome.
Stunning Eric!!! Nice one Nick and Lex 😊thanks guys ❤
Our pleasure!
If you have some extra time listen to this full album! Glad you enjoyed it
@Eric Meredith Eric I will listen to it tomorrow my friend!! Eric I will definitely get back to you on this one my friend! Take care buddy
@@michaelmalone3089 sounds good! Hope you enjoy! I love it more with each listen! Have a good day my friend!
Had no idea what to expect, very good. Unfolds in a surprising way with tasteful mixtures of styles. Very cool. 😎
Wow. Funny you mentioned Blade Runner because it's confirmed the inspiration of this song is Blade Runner.
The Trumpet sounded like the Trumpet in Blade Runner. So cool they got inspired by Vangelis:)

This is such an amazing album! Hard to pick my favorite track of it! Nightingale, this one, Beneath the White Rainbow... too much good stuff
60.4k!
Moving along at the speed of music!!
Wow!!! Revved up like a Deuce!
Sanford & Son 😂
Excellent viewing experience, cheers !

They are from the UK. London in the UK.
Nice! Been there lots of times🥰

Not sure what your comparison with Lumineers and Mumford & Sons (Sanford & Sons?) was about. Can you elaborate?

Listen to Carousel, at least. It's a great one of off the Virus album.

Yo se q soy kmo los pollitos bien rompe huevos pero puede ser nada salvaje de ERUKA SATIVA
While this is one of the weaker tracks on the album IMO, Haken is really making their mark in prog metal.
