What's mind-boggling is the fact that in some parts of the US even BB guns like these are heavily regulated. Apparently in New Jersey they're concerned about a mass BB-spraying.
I was checking out the MP40, Thompson, and Grease Gun and many other full auto BB guns. I was VERY impressed the feel was real and most were priced around $250.
The Grease Gun is every bit as fun as the MP40. I also have the Thompson but for some reason it doesn't bring a smile to my face the way the other two do.
I use Bic ink pen barrels..remove the ink..has the butt plug and ink cap so they don't spill out if dropped..even has a 6 inch 4x4 wood block with holes drilled to put the ink pen barrels with preloaded to go BB's.
For loading you might try using a Crosman 'speed loader' like the one that comes with their DPMS SBR rifle. Like you alluded to, lubing the charger once it's full helps with the loading process.
I've got the WW2 Thompson M1A1 full auto gun. Its a blast and will slam through coffee cans. I have shot the MP40 also. Because of the style its not balanced and find it awkward to hold, the same probably was said for the original but they were cheap and effective weapons. Now the Thompson is balanced and feels good to shoot, hold and aim.
Ringing steel targets with steel BBs sure is fun but the bounce back / ricochets can be an issue. Yes, you had your eye protection on which is always needed but personally I'd proceed with caution especially with kids or pets nearby. Nice to see some gun channels bringing awareness of these fun plinkers to new audiences!!
Airsoft is super fan and can be used as training. You get all geared up and shoot at something that actually shoots back. Not a piece of paper. And at the end of the day, everyone goes home. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it
Umarex makes some really nice full auto bb guns. Its so much just to grab one and go in the back yard and pop some cans . Got a full auto m4 and have a the 50cal revolver. Now I got to get one of these. :)
If you use crosman CO2 carts, you need to put a dime or two between them when installing. Otherwise both carts will not be pierced. I have put over 12,000 bb's through mine. Also RWS oil each and every mag swap.
Even steel BBs have problems - your best bet is to go with the anodized BBs, like Hornady Black - that almost never gives you problems, so if you're having feed issues, use that. In theory, the mags are designed to pierce BOTH CO2 cartridges...when it works. Easiest way to load from a large container like that is to scoop up BBs in a straw and then feed them in. "There's a semi-auto setting" - LOL - yeah, like anyone uses that on this fun gun. Jokes aside, this gun is a joy to fire when it's working as you can cut a soda can in half with this sucker. This is a pure plinking gun - the first few shots on semi can roll a squirrel, but it's also not designed for range or accuracy - you get this purely to kill cans.
damn, I just bought it like 20 minutes ago and wish I read these reviews on the Copper coated steel BB's , ffs. I bought like 2500 of them. Ahh well, guess I'll have to buy some Hornady black.
@@machinegun3133 Yeah, folks don't read reviews on stuff until after they purchase the item these days - just looking for decision confirmation I guess. I did let Umarex know that was the problem which was causing so much negative feedback on the gun but for some inexplicable reason they never bothered updating nor adding any notes to the gun nor the website FAQ. It's really stupid and lazy of them as I know myself and countless others have spent years giving negative feedback on the thing until I stumbled across the solution and that has to have cost them countless sales as I've seen lots of folks responding with "thanks for the warning" or words which clearly indicated they were no longer going to purchase the gun. When you're screwing in the bottom of the mag to pierce the two CO2 cartridges, once it is flush and you hear the hiss, give it another full turn to turn and a half with the wrench so as to ensure you pierce the bottom cartridge - you'll only hear the top one pierce. Do this slowly and only 25-50% at a time, experimenting to figure out how far you need to additionally turn it as there are no replacement parts for the mags - you break it and you're dropping $50+ for an entirely new mag. Fiddle around with different brands of CO2 cartridges as well as I've found that there can be a few millimeters difference in length between brands, resulting in some brands NEVER piercing the bottom cartridge. Finally, you may find that you can't fully depress the trigger without it resetting on you and you needing to recock it, so if you find that you need to pull back the charging handle after every shot, experiment with just partially squeezing the trigger - just enough for it to fire - then don't pull it back any further. It took me two or three mags to get the hang of it but I can now cut a soda can in half and execute a full mag dump without issue. So be patient as once you've figured the gun out, it's an incredibly awesome toy and well worth the effort.
I got the Thompson the M3 Grease gun and now the MP40. I never thought i would spend that kind of money on a BB gun since I could get a real gun like a new shotgun or something for the same price. But these bb guns are so much fun it's totally worth the money to me and it's going to be fun to break out the BB guns when i have company over at the house.
