Katharine Houghton Hepburn (May 12, 1907 - June 29, 2003) was an American actress whose career as a Hollywood leading lady spanned six decades. She was known for her headstrong independence, spirited personality, and outspokenness, cultivating a screen persona that matched this public image, and regularly playing strong-willed, sophisticated women. She worked in a varied range of genres, from screwball comedy to literary drama, which earned her various accolades, including four Academy Awards for Best Actress-a record for any performer.
Raised in Connecticut by wealthy, progressive parents, Hepburn began to act while at Bryn Mawr College. Favorable reviews of her work on Broadway brought her to the attention of Hollywood. Her early years in film brought her international fame, including an Academy Award for Best Actress for her third film, Morning Glory (1933), but this was followed by a series of commercial failures culminating in the critically lauded box office failure Bringing Up Baby (1938). Hepburn masterminded her comeback, buying out her contract with RKO Radio Pictures and acquiring the film rights to The Philadelphia Story, which she sold on the condition that she be the star. That comedy film was a box office success and landed her a third Academy Award nomination. In the 1940s, she was contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where her career focused on an alliance with Spencer Tracy. The screen partnership spanned 26 years and produced nine films.
The most significant relationship of Hepburn's life was with Spencer Tracy, her co-star in nine films. In her autobiography, she wrote, "It was a unique feeling that I had for [Tracy]. I would have done anything for him." Lauren Bacall, a close friend, later wrote of how "blindingly" in love Hepburn was with the actor. The relationship has subsequently been publicized as one of Hollywood's legendary love affairs.
Hepburn challenged herself in the latter half of her life as she tackled Shakespearean stage productions and a range of literary roles. She found a niche playing mature, independent, and sometimes unmarried women such as in The African Queen (1951), a persona the public embraced. Hepburn received three more Academy Awards for her performances in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968), and On Golden Pond (1981). In the 1970s, she began appearing in television films, which later became her focus. She made her final screen appearance at the age of 87.
Hepburn stated in her eighties, "I have no fear of death. Must be wonderful, like a long sleep." Her health began to deteriorate not long after her final screen appearance, and she was hospitalized in March 1993 for exhaustion. In the winter of 1996, she was hospitalized with pneumonia. By 1997, she had become very weak and was speaking and eating very little, and it was feared she would die. She showed signs of dementia in her final years. By 2000, she was regarded by her niece to be a "private person". In July 2001, she was admitted to a hospital for pneumonia and a urinary tract infection. In May 2003, an aggressive tumor was found in Hepburn's neck. The decision was made not to medically intervene, and she died from cardiac arrest on June 29, 2003, at the Hepburn family home in Fenwick, Connecticut. She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Hepburn requested there be no memorial service.

Hi Scott thank for sharing this video of Katherine what a brilliant actress ❤
Always appreciated. Always.
You always make me smile Scott, thankyou ❤
Beautiful home 🏡 bright and warm sun 🌞
Thank you Scott.
She was one of the greatest actresses of her day! This is good work Scott ❤
Katherine was one of the greats from the "golden age" of Hollywood. She only started to sporadically do interviews after the Dick Cavett 2 hr interview, that was done without a studio audience. She went to see what the studio was like and just decided to do the interview then. I love it!
She swam and played tennis every morning, even in winter up until the age of 87. She didn't believe in God and said this about dying "it must be wonderful, like a long sleep".
Thanks sweetie for the wonderful video, only you could get special permission with that wonderful personality of yours! Peace...
Awww thank you my dear Stacy 😊
SCOTT❤❤ thank you so much for doing this video. I absolutely loved Miss Hepburn. She was one of the greatest actors ever!! I can't tell you how much I lived this video.

Wow! What beautiful homes there, MS Hepburn was beautiful young and beautiful older. Thanks Scott for this one. R.I.P Ms Hepburn.🇨🇦🌹🕊️🌹🕊️
She was so beautiful. ❤ Thanks Scott and Love from Germany.❤️🕊️
I love this video!! Katharine Hepburn was such an incredible actress and person. They just don't make them like her anymore. Maybe because it was from my era but On Golden Pond was such a favorite movie of mine. I bought the VHS tape and later the DVD version. It's funny, when I saw her house with that pond, it immediately reminded me of that movie. It's strange how times have changed and how they made such a big deal about her wearing pants instead of dresses. Thank God times have changed for the better. Such a trivial thing to get upset over. So, she was a bit of a trailblazer too going against the grain. She had such a beauty to her until the day she died, and I still miss her on the silver screen. Great video Scott! May Katharine and the rest of her family forever RIP. What an icon! ❤💐
Thank you for watching my dear Flo! See you in Canada soon!

So so excited you did this video! I love Katherine Hepburn not just as a legend in films but as a person. She spoke her mind l, never apologize and was completely honest. She was also almost the only women who wore pants back then. Her Mother was a woman's advocate until her death. Thank you Scott!! Take care and be safe.
Alice Adam’s is a good movie 🎥 worth to watch 🙋🏻♀️👍🏻🍿
Peaceful place.
Katherine- beautiful inside and out.
One of the greatest lady in showbiz

Oh wow what a fab video Scott
WE WILL NEVER FORGET HER VOICE RIP KAT❤..PEACE OUT
Katherine Hepburn has always been my favorite actress
Oh wow! Thats amazing. Im shocked you didn't bring up the 1938 New England Hurricane. She road that out in that very same house and almost died. She lost 95% of her belongings. Including her first Oscar. Which was later found and returned to her. For some reason that bit of info has been stuck in my head for a long time. That hurricane was very bad.
Thanks for showing us. All the houses are so pretty.
RIP To All🙏 Nice Vid Scott.💯
Been to Hartford Connecticut visited Mark Twain‘s house which is awesome to see you should tour there
The house can also be seen in the movie "The Aviator" (2004). Great movie about the life of Howard Hughes, played by Leonardo Dicaprio.
Interesting video Scott.
Thank you Scott Katherine Hepburn had a lovely home

@@crystalhowell2463 same to you
She was an amazing human being! She did so much for women's rights in Hollywood. I noticed at a young age that she rarely wore a dress. She inspired multiple generations. Thank you Scott!
Scott, hi ! Long term viewer. I'm from around here and this is the Borough of Fenwick, in Old Saybrook. Katharine's family home yes. The original house was at this location and was demolished to ruble, in the 1936 Hurricane ( before warnings) . My grandma used to talk about it alot. Anyway, Katharine rebuilt this with her family. There is footage of the hurricane of 36 somewhere on you tube. They rebuilt , i remember the lot parcel , because you just showed it.! Indeed she lived here forever , until she passed. But who would leave? Its beautiful. She was an avid golfer. xo Maggie ( love your work!!). 💖
Old Hollywood is so interesting! She was stunning!
Wow that's beautiful, Thanks for the share.
Thanks Scott Bless Katherine
This is so great! Love her! I also loved the way she created her own look! On Golden Pond is one of my favorites. The whole cast was great! Another class act! I read her biography a long time ago and it was so good. I believe there were a lot of pictures in it, which l love. I believe her father was a doctor and one of her younger brothers hung himself by accident. I could be wrong, but I'm never wrong, ask my husband😅 Take care and safe ❤
RIP Actress Katharine Hepburn
thanks for sharing Scott
I loved On Golden Pond and Rooster Cogburn
Wow, another great video, WHADDA house!
If ur still in the Hamptons by chance...... can u PLEASE do a Grey Gardens Vid. U are a great storyteller!
A great video Scott she was a class act in her movies and in real life my mom even named me after her may she rest in peace
Rip Katherine Hepburn 😢
Wonderful video!! Did you see Joan Bennett's grave? I believe she is buried in the same cemetery. It would be great if you could do a video on her too. By the way, Kate's first Oscar was for Morning Glory not Little Women. Coincidentally, I believe Joan played Amy to Kate's Jo in that terrific version of Little Women.
If y'all havnt seen 'Bringing Up Baby', watch it, soooo great.
On Golden Pond is my favorite of hers
She is one of my favorite actresses. I have her book as well.
They really don't come like her anymore ❤❤❤
RIP
Bro it was so hot in Arizona today STILL in October and watching this video made me want to move here because the weather looked amazing. Comfortable with 2 jackets, no wind 🙏 PERFECT

OH Canada , I'm sure you heard by now that Adam the woo and his father was interviewed by his town in Florida , getting ready for Milton hurricane and by Canadian news channel pretty cool❤
No I had no idea. I know he’s safe and sound and I hope all my friends, family, and viewers in Florida are
@@SCOTTONTAPEi me too we were pretty worried about this one cuz it was at l5 and 6 and I think by the time it landed in Florida it was only at 3 category . it could have been a lot worse than it was and Helene they just they haven't even recovered from that yet. I was pretty worried about that too because I have family and friends down there as well ,Adams episode was today .You can see Adam an his dad with the Canadian news channel people were interviewing them
