I guess my favorite part is that between all that hugely expensive equipment and gadgets that he has gathered in his "mere" basement (which alone probably costs more than my house!), he has this Behringer monitor controller tucked away that he actually thinks is sounding great... go figure :) i lost it there hahaha
My favourite is a tie between favouring fantastic instruments and excellent players and being kinda “whatever” about the mics. When the players and the instruments are that good you can record them with anything. The other thing is that simple slab of wood over the keyboard which will be happening in my space tomorrow.
My favorite part is how practical this dude is. He likes windows PC so he uses it. His live stream USB mic is $30 on amazon. It's like, if it works it works lol.
Love Love Love the warmth and inviting vibe, color scheme just says “hey, come on in, chill ...let’s make some music”, my favorite part has to be there at the end when he says, “I don’t know if my studio is as cool as some of the others you toured”, I agree with you Andrew, it certainly is one of the coolest!!
Spooner Oldham would be at home in that keyboard room ... Michael is such a great player and he really knows his stuff ... Thanks for putting this episode together !
Just gonna comment on a year old video to say you really inspired me dude ive watched a lot and didnt know what was really possible today. Thanks for the eye opener I hope to add something to the mix someday.
Recently found your channel and have really loved these videos!! Inspired me to work on my studio and while some of these are crazy amazing it still gives me something to work toward. Thank you again for doing this!
I would like to help home studio nerds with this simple trick. Is your desk edge uncomfortable for your forearm ? Go buy a swimming pool floating noodle in the color that works for you. Make a straight cutting line with a piece of wood down the noodle. Cut it open with a box cutting knife, or slowly with scissors. Then open it along the cut and attach it to your desk end. Presto ! You have a cheap arm rest that gives some cheap comfort, and now looks like a big dollar studio console arm rest. You’re welcome !
Absolutely amazing and so is his studio. He seems like total pro and chill guy. Going start to his channel and if I can afford it I may sign up for his course. Not sure if scoring is my main focus, but I write very theatrical music and total see learning a great guy from this obvious master. Gosh I wish I could see this studio and him in person. Thank you so much for doing this.
Talk about kind of a small version of typical Hollywood based film and TV composers studio setups especially the master computer and the slaves with sample libraries at the ready. Going to definitely check out his sites thanks for doing this one I dig seeing media composers studios.
Studio looks amazing. Very cool to see a composer's setup. I think I would benefit from Mr. Whittaker's course. Thanks Andrew for getting the word out.
I agree with him about the behringer monitor controller. Best $129 I spent in my studio. Prefer it to the original mackie big knob or the presonus central station. I had a grace headphone amp/ preamp before the behringer and I don't miss the Grace that much believe it or not. Nice studio and tour thanks man.
I suspect that Michael gets away with using those "cheap" mics coz he could play a cereal packet plugged into a old radio and make it sound soulful! The bits where he played got me right in the tingles!! You rock Michael!
I have MXL R40 and MXL R144 on the way to finally try some ribbon mics out with the drum miking and mixing. Should be fun. Those mics sound great blended with an SM57 on guitar amps.
You do realize that Michael Whittaker got things a little wrong, don´t you? It´s not a home studio,- it´s a fully professional studio facility,- with a house built around it. Cannot even begin to calculate let alone comprehend just how much money he´s put into it. The Antelope alone would lose me a kidney,- and that´s just the converter........ Dang! Ok,- he´s a consumate professional at a certain level, but still........monster impressive place..... and that online seminar of his might just be worth looking into,- ´specially for yours truly already into operatic symphonic contemporary Euro metal..... there´d be a whole new world to learn about,- so maybe, just maybe...... Overflowing here....... :) Do you still find them,- or are they beginning to find you,-.... in other words,- looks like you´ve arrived, my friend! :)
Great stuff, Andrew, thanks for another informative studio tour. One thing I would like to hear from all of these studio owners is which sample rate they use and any reasons for their preference?
I had to like, subscribe, hit the bell and share in the first few seconds of this video. Had To 😢😭😨😖😱💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
I’m just curious... his studio had some crazy good lighting behind the desk and in other areas. Was that from him for his TH-cam channel or from you for your walkthrough?
Amazing series man. Question...Have you ever heard of anyone placing a mic above the keyboard when using a grand or upright to capture the sound of the keys and mechanics themselves?
You can spot a guy who worked in the HZ's team when you see his studio which tends to look like a victorian salon. Red fabric, dark wood, gothic candelabras... 😀
Curious about the front head of the kick removed. I don’t notice any tape on the lugs. I’ve never had much luck with recording a kick that way unless I duct tape all the lugs on the kick to stop them from rattling. How do you combat this?
Love your channel man! Question though, lots of people use the p16 for tracking audio. I keep hoping you’ll go over how people are doing it. I have one and an x32 rack I’ve been running live sound for jam sessions and have been trying to figure out the best way to route all the tracks for playback to the p16 so people can customize their mixes but I feel like my setup is janky still. I’d love a dive into what people are doing with that in regards to routing from their studio into the p16 and how it works for people
Another Excellent video! AM! Did you find out the make & model of that mic iso metal birdhouse for vocal isolation? I have a big room for vocals & would love to try that! If anyone know please comment! K
yes-excellent channel! Can't get enough of these videos! I was all over Ebay and couldn't find that mic isolater that is shown in this vid. Any chance you could provide a link? Thanks!
Dang. I don't even know what my favorite part of this is.. what's yours?
The fact that I can actually write as an intern
Yes.
I guess my favorite part is that between all that hugely expensive equipment and gadgets that he has gathered in his "mere" basement (which alone probably costs more than my house!), he has this Behringer monitor controller tucked away that he actually thinks is sounding great... go figure :) i lost it there hahaha
I worship Steely Dan so the Keith Carlock part blew my mind.
My favourite is a tie between favouring fantastic instruments and excellent players and being kinda “whatever” about the mics. When the players and the instruments are that good you can record them with anything.
The other thing is that simple slab of wood over the keyboard which will be happening in my space tomorrow.
Aw I love Mike Whittaker...was a monster player even years ago back in LA. Such a great space Whitty
i appreciate the wider aspect ratio
Right!? Just a touch wider makes it so much more "cinematic"
I've worked with michael on several occasions when he played live at Rudy's Jazz Room in Nashville. Stellar dude. Stellar player.
that's dope!
Dang a studio owner who's a true musician? Friends with Keith Carlock? Humble and easy going? Amazing set up, great tour
Happy Monday. Getting some Peter from forgetting Sarah Marshall vibes. Great studio!
those videos make my Mondays better!!!!! thanks man
Glad to hear it!
Best TH-camr in awhile. Keep it up man
Wow, thanks
My favorite part is how practical this dude is. He likes windows PC so he uses it. His live stream USB mic is $30 on amazon. It's like, if it works it works lol.
Man. Michael Whittaker is a name I've been missing out on. This man bleeds professionalism. That piano environment is incredible.
I absolutely loved this one . This guy has a bright spirit , really humble , knows his stuff.
What a cool channel , great job .
Wow! Incredibly well-thought-out studio. Love the atmosphere. Hard to believe it's in a home.
Thanks so much!
i look forward to Monday evenings to watch this series. This is by far my favourite. Thanks for doing these videos!
Spooner Oldham would be at home in that keyboard room ... Michael is such a great player and he really knows his stuff ... Thanks for putting this episode together !
This is such a beautiful space. So inspirational
What a dream studio. The host is asking great questions.
Awesome musician/composer with an equally awesome studio!
Just gonna comment on a year old video to say you really inspired me dude ive watched a lot and didnt know what was really possible today. Thanks for the eye opener I hope to add something to the mix someday.
Dude love this tour. Binging your studio tour playlist for a 3rd time this week. Taking notes.
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the tip about "Anydesk" thanks Mike...thanks Andrew! Great interview, great tour!
It never fails that all of the cool, cheap and random hardware these guys have is something they always say “I don’t know it was on Amazon/eBay” lol.
True
Super rad space!
I have a small home studio with mediocre equipment and everything in the same room. This studio is to dream about for someone like me.
Love the look of that place. Looks really rich.great job with these vids love them!👍😎
Glad you like them!
Of all the studios - This is my goal!
AMAZING, AMAZING,AMAZING. And so well thought out!!!!
Thanks GG!
Recently found your channel and have really loved these videos!! Inspired me to work on my studio and while some of these are crazy amazing it still gives me something to work toward. Thank you again for doing this!
Thank you. You are a proud PC guy just like me. And your home studio is awesome.

Yes! More people playing some of the instruments please
Thank you so much for continuing to post these! I’m an electronic music producer but I still find all these ‘live’ studios so interesting. Love it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Incredible studio. Love the warm color scheme of darker red.
Glad you like it!
Great tour and intro to the composer. Thx.
IDK why, but I just like and trust this guy right off the bat.
Absolutely amazing and so is his studio. He seems like total pro and chill guy. Going start to his channel and if I can afford it I may sign up for his course. That’s a beautiful studio thank you Andrew for bringing these fantastic studios for us all to enjoy
Glad you enjoy it!
This is just crazy man
Huge looking space with lots of fun gear to grab inspiration from! Love it
It really is!
This is right up my alley. As usual... GREAT STUDIO and GREAT TOUR :D What an incredible use of space.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the Vienna Ensemble Pro, useful for orchestral stuff with lots of tracks. He just scratches the surface of a lot of gear. Great tour
Nice
I’ll smash that like button!!! Look forward to seeing your videos

hey andrew!!! amazing dude!!!thanks for that
Michael is awesome
Wow this studio is insane! 🔥
Damnation! How cool was that! Nuff said.
Keith Carlock (Steely Dan, Sting) is an amazing drummer!
I agree with him about the behringer monitor controller.
Best $129 I spent in my studio.
Prefer it to the original mackie big knob or the presonus central station.
I had a grace headphone amp/ preamp before the behringer and I don't miss the Grace that much believe it or not.
Nice studio and tour thanks man.
all the candle holders in there are so cool haha
Woah. I’ve never seen a desk setup like that before, but it seems so convenient.
Home studio? its bigger than my London flat!
I suspect that Michael gets away with using those "cheap" mics coz he could play a cereal packet plugged into a old radio and make it sound soulful! The bits where he played got me right in the tingles!! You rock Michael!
maybe my favorite
That was awesome.
Awesome studio! My kind of space.
I have MXL R40 and MXL R144 on the way to finally try some ribbon mics out with the drum miking and mixing. Should be fun. Those mics sound great blended with an SM57 on guitar amps.
SERIOUS
sickest 106 on the entire planet, basically.
What are those computer keyboard risers?
You do realize that Michael Whittaker got things a little wrong, don´t you?

Hanging Bass Trap 🤔 awesome now that's something I never thought of
Awesome vid Andrew 👊 👊 👊 👊 👊 👊
This is the same color scheme as a vampire's house 😂 complete with candles. It looks incredible! I would love to record there.
Such a nice fella, such a nice studio!
So what would you do differently? Thanks. Looks good.
I had to like, subscribe, hit the bell and share in the first few seconds of this video. Had To 😢😭😨😖😱💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

How do you keep finding these truly EPIC studios?! This was awesome. Keep it up
Thanks a ton!
Behringer model d on his main desk ... 👍
Yooo thanks for doing this! The anxiety has been real today. Sick to zone out to this for like 30 mins. Thanks homie 🙏
feel you. i also watch doug demuro for anxiety zoneouts. lots of detail to focus on :)
Dude can play keys!
I’m inspired!!
His control room looks like a vampire's cave and it's effing rad
so many of these are incredible, even I had to pick one, I would have a hard time.
i like everything I see here, except the keyboard on the stand. How does bro type like that?
I'd love to get a link or brand name for those silver boom stands on the piano, they look great
What controller do you have there to your right?
I’m just curious... his studio had some crazy good lighting behind the desk and in other areas. Was that from him for his TH-cam channel or from you for your walkthrough?
Keith Carlock is a legendary drummer.
Cool! I do get a little dizzy from the camera movements, i have to admit😅
COOL !!!
Amazing series man. Question...Have you ever heard of anyone placing a mic above the keyboard when using a grand or upright to capture the sound of the keys and mechanics themselves?
Love your channel, how u like that new control surface?
I love it
Dude. His basement is bigger than my parents house and my apartment combined if you don’t count the garage. That’s insane.
Someone tell this guy he doesn’t need 5 computers to do his job
Well he kinda does thou...
I NEED THAT MINI SOUND ISOLATION BOOTH HE HAD ON TOP OF THE MIC. WHERE CAN I FIND IT?
You can spot a guy who worked in the HZ's team when you see his studio which tends to look like a victorian salon. Red fabric, dark wood, gothic candelabras... 😀

His live stream mic was a maono microphone I’ve done a video for maono on my channel for a microphone review
I want those mic stands (piano)!!! Who makes them???
Love your channel man! Question though, lots of people use the p16 for tracking audio. I keep hoping you’ll go over how people are doing it. get in touch with tommee profitt, I would love to see you do a tour.
Thanks!
