I would just like to say THANK YOU for your incredibly detailed and easy-to-understand tutorials. Your written patterns are also well written and easy to follow. I've been crocheting for many, many years now and I've never seen this particular technique of adding plastic canvas to make stiffer baskets. Pure genius! I've added several of your patterns and tutorials to my Pinterest business account and look forward to following you on Pinterest as well. Thank you again!

I just made this and I love it! I used 4 weight for both yarns since it’s all I had on hand and I was just experimenting, and it came out fine! I also ended up stitching down the folded down portion inside around the bottom to seal in the plastic canvas, but that’s just because the looseness of the inner layer bugged me. Now it’s all nice and snug!
I had the same problem that a lot of people had with the stitch counts in the circle until I thought of it differently. When the number of single crochets in between the increase is even, you start with half that number before your first increase. The other half will meet up at the end of the round.
So, for example, when your increase round has 4 SC, you do 2 SC into the first two stitches, then 2 SC into the next stitch, then 4 SC into the next 4 stitches. At the end of the round, after your last increase, you’ll have 2 SC in the last two stitches that will match up with the first 2 you made, so that all the way around the round there will be 4 SC between each increase.
    Hope that helps someone!

I especially want to thank you for the flat circle method you teach in this video! I use it for every circle I crochet now, and I’m amazed that more people don’t do it this way! No more hexagons/octagons!
I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I first made these bowls! 🥰 I use them every day! I’m back to use the pattern as a base for a taller smallest bowl to use to hold my hooks. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!

This is perhaps the best tutorial I've ever encountered in the beginner crochet/knitting world. Too many people try, most fail epically. Thanks for doing this right! Can't wait to see what ELSE you have out there and fingers crossed my basket comes out okay. I think I may be crocheting it too tightly.

You should watch the Malia Shoulder Bag tutorial (by same designer). All of Rebecca's tutorials are wonderful, but that one especially taught me so much about crochet in general. It is the absolute best video of any crochet videos I've ever encountered. Making that purse was the most fun I've had in crochet. It's a three video tutorial. So thorough, and you end up with a stunning bag. I had a woman at Anthropologie clothing store ask me if I bought my bag there! She wanted one. I get compliments all the time on mine (I made a bunch in different colors and for gifts). Check out those videos!

I see a lot of people having problems with the even rows such as Row 4 and Row 6. The original pattern is correct and if followed correctly, they do give you the correct number of stitches. I am not a professional crocheter and I am not sure if I am totally correct about this but this is how I understood it.
The even numbered rows are an alternate method of doing increases in a circle to create a circle with a smoother, rounder circumference. That’s what she was explaining in the video at the Row 4 mark. Each even row, this alternate method shifts the increases over a little so instead of lining up on top of each other like a ladder, they are sort of lining up diagonally to create a pinwheel shape.
For example, on Row 4 notice the repeat is SC, 2SC, SC. So repeating that u would be doing SC, 2SC, SC, SC, 2SC, SC, SC, 2SC, SC, etc. Notice the “SC, SC, 2SC” pattern in there? Thats the repeat from the original method. But because for the smooth circle method your first set of stitches in row 4 is going to be shifted over slightly, the pattern is (SC), 2SC, SC and your last set of stitches is SC, 2SC, [SC]. When the [last stitch] of the row comes back around to tag the (first stitch), they kind of join up to make [SC], (SC), 2SC, which is the pattern from the original method. So even though you are starting out the row differently, at the end you do get the complete stitch count/pattern from the original method. Just think of it as taking half of the original method’s repeat pattern and only doing this half of it at the beginning of the row and then doing the remaining half as part of your last stitches at the end of the row. Everything else in between is just the original method’s pattern.
TLDR: For the people getting incorrect stitch count, I will use Row 4 as an example, but this also applies to all the other even rows.
If you are getting 27 stitches on Row 4, you are probably doing the repeat wrong. The correct repeat is SC, 2SC, SC. So two sets of this would be SC, 2SC, SC, SC, 2SC, SC for 24 stitches total.
Most likely you are doing a repeat of SC, 2SC instead. Two sets of this would look like SC, 2SC, SC, 2SC, which would give you 27 stitches total.
    Correct: SC, 2SC, SC, SC, 2SC, SC…
    (24 total)
    Incorrect: SC, 2SC, SC, 2SC…
    (27 total)
Notice if done correctly you would be doing SC, SC in between the increases. If you are getting 27 stitches you are probably doing only one SC in between increases.
Hope this helps! Happy crocheting! This is a beautiful basket!
