The vocalist of Jinjer, Tatiana Shmalyuk, has been singing in 8 different bands since she was 15 years old. She has learned to growl by herself. In an interview she told that it was a hard work to learn to growl. This Ukrainian metal band is originally from the Eastern pert of Ukraine, from that territory the Ukrainian government attacked in the spring of 2014 - that was when the civil war, initiated by USA, started in Ukraine. Tatiana was born in 1987, in the year of Cat or Rabbit according to the Chinese horoscope, and her Zodiac sign is PISCES! As a matter of fact Tatiana is telling about herself, abot the traits of character of a Pisces person. Well, if you're into metal rabbit holes, Jinjer is a deep one, so is Arch Enemy and many others, but the deepest is Nightwish. Their lead singer, Floor Jansen, can swing from opera to death metal growls in the span of single note. 'Ghost Love Score" is the usual gateway to them, but their repertoire is quite broad and Floor's repertoire is even broader (pop, classical, rock, death metal, etc.) Tatiana is very talented and her "Judgment and Punishment One Take" is a great example of her capabilities. There are so many good Jinjer songs on TH-cam. So many I don't think there are too many channels who have covered all of them. They are from Ukraine. Their singer Tatiana lives in the US now. Some suggestions for other Jinjer videos would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air, I Speak Astronomy OMV, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Outlander Official Live at Loudfest, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal, Who is Gonna be the One Live. That's just a short list. There are a lot of interview videos out there but also a few candid videos that are a must for Tatiana fans. Spiritbox Dying Wish Boygenius Softcult A few different female prominent bands. Spiritbox (they’re nominated for a grammy this year) can get heavy at times, Dying Wish is a throwback to 2008 metalcore, Boygenius (nominated for several grammy awards this year) is an indie rock supergroup, and Softcult is twin sisters who play shoegazey jams that remind me a lot of Deftones.
Tatiana is the immediate revelation that first listeners always have such stunned reactions to, but the whole band's talent and artistry is so incredible that second and subsequent listens to this video are a revelation too.

If you want some female metal growls, you should listen to Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow and Alissa White-Gluz have a very different way of singing, but both are a pure pleasure to hear. Try Nemesis for Angela (usually the Live in Tokyo is a reference) and the music video of Handshake with Hell for Alissa. And another way of screaming is Courtney LaPlante, from Spiritbox. I think her One Take video of Circle with Me is a great way to get mesmerized. For Jinjer and Tatiana, Judgement and Punishment One Take vocals and Perenial Live at Wacken 2019 are usually the next steps, together with the videos of Vortex, Teacher Teacher and I Speak Astronomy. Another band very similar to Jinjer is Spiritbox. Female fronted and has such a beautiful silky tone, then she screams and rips your face off lol It's amazing, you will 10000% will love them! I seen Jinjer a year ago and she is just as amazing as she is on recordings.
While I love Tatiana's voice and her growls, and I totally understand the initial shock, the thing some people seem to overlook on this track is that the drummer low-key KILLS IT.

As I watch this, I'm heading into February and the astrological sign of pices. The two fish twins. This song has so much artistry. All the lyrics have an aquatic theme and then she switches personalities throughout the song like the twins, ying and yang, dark and light. So much to break down in this song.

Hi, Stacey. It's true, your life could be changed in some sence indeed. This band is kinda infectious. Many people was cought by Jinjer's music years ago and it still doesn't let them go. You've seen just a peak of iceberg actually. The band has 13+ years of experience and dozens of "must see/hear" tracks. Jinjer is even more impressive live so if you'd pick some new track for reaction then choose some live perfomance. You can try almost any of them actually, they don't have weak music, only bangers blended with solid songs.
I can tell just from listening to this one song that they are absolute quality!! They are quite intoxicating. Would love to see them live if I ever get the chance!

Just look at their schedule last year. Jinjer is touring almost constantly each year, except a covid year and a few months of the war.

If you want to dive into metal, Tool, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine and Korn are must views. Those bands have styles and sounds you've never thought you would hear and enjoy in the context of music and most people are instantly hooked and become hungry for more, just as with Jinjer.
I've seen Jinjer twice and they are amazing, Tatiana is amazing, the band is just so in sync. I would say (and I'm guessing many others will say it too) to listen and watch perennial next. There is a live Wacken video with her in a gold jumpsuit.

These are all excellent suggestions! This is a person after my own heart. I love Jinjer, Spiritbox and Hanabie more than all others I've heard in this genre because all three singers have wonderful clean voices with ability to instantly transform to insane death screams and other forms of harsh vocals. All three are outstanding full bands with full presentation. All three have arresting front women. I have another one for you that I just discovered two days ago: ANKOR from Spain, with lead singer Jessie Williams. Check out Darkbeat, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
So many great groups from Asia and Europe like Jinjer, Ayreon where i came accross many singers and musicians never heard before would love to see Jinjer as a guest of Arjen. Also Kamalot, Nightwish, Sabaton, Epica any prog music. So much talent. Jinjer is from Ukraine.

Hey Stacy, I just came across your channel a couple weeks ago. I love your reactions. ❤ There are a lot of female singers in metal today who do growls. As far as I know, Rachel Heyzer was one of the first back in the mid 1990s. The first one who became famous for her growls was Angela Gossow, the former lead singer of Arch Enemy. Another early one is Otep Shamaya. Fun fact: She did some dubbing for creatures in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Ghostbusters. But as far as I know, there aren't that many female singers who do growls and beautiful clear vocals. You've already found Floor Jansen from Nightwish, who can also sing deep growls, but doesn't use them very often on stage. Another one is Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox (an older band of her is Iwrestledabearonce).🤘

Jinjer is different - in the best way! Keep on going down this rabbit hole - there is slow, there is fast - it is all talent from this band. Tatiana (for obvious reasons) steals the show, but there is not a missing piece in any of the music behind her - it's all justgreat. It is beautiful in its pieces and then meshes together seamlessly. They shine in their live performances!

A heavy metal classic, and one of the best songs to be released in the 80's, period. Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa or We got the moves . Awesome/weird german band that combines metal with some Techno beats, and their videos will just crack you up. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird - 7/2/1977 - Oakland Coliseum Stadium (Official) - a 70's rock classic, and in my humble opinion - the best ever guitar solo. You've earned my subscribe with this video, I hope to see many more!
I had only listened to the studio version of Pisces, so I had no idea why everyone was up in arms about this song. It just sounded like a nice-voiced lady and a screamo dude. It wasn't until I watched the music video that I realized they were one and the same. The fact that she can do that voice and switch so quickly is absolutely incredible.

There are so many good Jinjer songs on TH-cam. So many I don't think there are too many channels who have covered all of them. They are from Ukraine. Their singer Tatiana lives in the US now. Some suggestions for other Jinjer videos would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air, I Speak Astronomy OMV, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Outlander Official Live at Loudfest, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal, Who is Gonna be the One Live. Spiritbox (they’re nominated for a grammy this year) can get heavy at times, Dying Wish is a throwback to 2008 metalcore, Boygenius (nominated for several grammy awards this year) is an indie rock supergroup, and Softcult is twin sisters who play shoegazey jams that remind me a lot of Deftones.
Tatiana is the immediate revelation that first listeners always have such stunned reactions to, but the whole band's talent and artistry is so incredible that second and subsequent listens to this video are a revelation too.

If you want some female metal growls, you should listen to Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow and Alissa White-Gluz have a very different way of singing, but both are a pure pleasure to hear. Try Nemesis for Angela (usually the Live in Tokyo is a reference) and the music video of Handshake with Hell for Alissa. And another way of screaming is Courtney LaPlante, from Spiritbox. I think her One Take video of Circle with Me is a great way to get mesmerized. For Jinjer and Tatiana, Judgement and Punishment One Take vocals and Perenial Live at Wacken 2019 are usually the next steps, together with the videos of Vortex, Teacher Teacher and I Speak Astronomy. Another band very similar to Jinjer is Spiritbox. Female fronted and has such a beautiful silky tone, then she screams and rips your face off lol It's amazing, you will 10000% will love them! I seen Jinjer a year ago and she is just as amazing as she is on recordings.
While I love Tatiana's voice and her growls, and I totally understand the initial shock, the thing some people seem to overlook on this track is that the drummer low-key KILLS IT.

As I watch this, I'm heading into February and the astrological sign of pices. The two fish twins. This song has so much artistry. All the lyrics have an aquatic theme and then she switches personalities throughout the song like the twins, ying and yang, dark and light. So much to break down in this song.

It's true, your life could be changed in some sence indeed. This band is kinda infectious. Many people was cought by Jinjer's music years ago and it still doesn't let them go.
You've seen just a peak of iceberg actually. The band has 13+ years of experience and dozens of "must see/hear" tracks.
Jinjer is even more impressive live so if you'd pick some new track for reaction then choose some live perfomance. You can try almost any of them actually, they don't have weak music, only bangers blended with solid songs.
I can tell just from listening to this one song that they are absolute quality!! They are quite intoxicating. Would love to see them live if I ever get the chance!
@@StaceyRPGReacts well, I'm not sure where're you from but Jinjer are touring in North America and Europe very often. A couple of tours in a year I guess + different metal festvals + joint tours with other bands. It's one of the most touring bands actually.

Just look at their schedule last year. Jinjer is touring almost constantly each year, except a covid year and a few months of the war.

If you want to dive into metal, Tool, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine and Korn are must views. Those bands have styles and sounds you've never thought you would hear and enjoy in the context of music and most people are instantly hooked and become hungry for more, just as with Jinjer.

The band is so balanced and I love how they play off each other, without ego, creating complete songs. Be sure to check out "Perennial" live at Wacken, "Judgement and Punishment" one take, "Teacher, Teacher" and "Home Back". I love female lead/all female metal bands. They not only subvert expectations but do offer contrast that are unique to the female voice. Hope you also check out Spiritbox, Hanabie, and Arch Enemy. Can't wait to see more
These are all excellent suggestions! This is a person after my own heart. I love Jinjer, Spiritbox and Hanabie more than all others I've heard in this genre because all three singers have wonderful clean voices with ability to instantly transform to insane death screams and other forms of harsh vocals. All three are outstanding full bands with full presentation. All three have arresting front women.
I have another one for you that I just discovered two days ago: ANKOR from Spain, with lead singer Jessie Williams. Check out Darkbeat, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
So many great groups from Asia and Europe like Jinjer, Ayreon where i came accross many singers and musicians never heard before would love to see Jinjer as a guest of Arjen. Also Kamalot, Nightwish, Sabaton, Epica any prog music. So much talent. Jinjer is from Ukraine.

There are a lot of female singers in metal today who do growls. As far as I know, Rachel Heyzer was one of the first back in the mid 1990s. The first one who became famous for her growls was Angela Gossow, the former lead singer of Arch Enemy. Another early one is Otep Shamaya. Fun fact: She did some dubbing for creatures in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Ghostbusters.
But as far as I know, there aren't that many female singers who do growls and beautiful clear vocals. You've already found Floor Jansen from Nightwish, who can also sing deep growls, but doesn't use them very often on stage. Another one is Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox (an older band of her is Iwrestledabearonce).🤘

Jinjer is different - in the best way!
Keep on going down this rabbit hole - there is slow, there is fast - it is all talent from this band. Tatiana (for obvious reasons) steals the show, but there is not a missing piece in any of the music behind her - it's all justgreat. It is beautiful in its pieces and then meshes together seamlessly.

Dude! I just found them two days ago and I'm totally hooked! They are in the same pool as Jinjer and Spiritbox. I'm deep down the rabbit hole with ANKOR right now. Jessie's "vocal playthrough" of Darkbeat gives me vibes of Tatiana's Judgement & Punishment and Courtney's Circle With Me videos. All three are God-tier!

Metallica - One. A heavy metal classic, and one of the best songs to be released in the 80's, period.
Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa or We got the moves . Awesome/weird german band that combines metal with some Techno beats, and their videos will just crack you up.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird - 7/2/1977 - Oakland Coliseum Stadium (Official) - a 70's rock classic, and in my humble opinion - the best ever guitar solo.

I had only listened to the studio version of Pisces, so I had no idea why everyone was up in arms about this song. It just sounded like a nice-voiced lady and a screamo dude. It wasn't until I watched the music video that I realized they were one and the same.
The fact that she can do that voice and switch so quickly is absolutely incredible.
