Their bassist & drummer are so underrated. 2 of the best & live even they are so sharp & on point. They have been around a long time really playing together plus side projects on & off. First heard in like 2012 I think my best friend is Armenian and he had a whole bunch of metal from overseas that I had never heard. I am so happy for them making finally. Well deserved.
As I watch this, I'm heading into February and the astrological sign of pices. The two fish twins. This song has so much artistry. All the lyrics have an aquatic theme and then she switches personalities throughout the song like the twins, ying and yang, dark and light. So much to break down in this song.
Spiritbox Dying Wish Boygenius Softcult A few different female prominent bands. Spiritbox (they’re nominated for a grammy this year) can get heavy at times, Dying Wish is a throwback to 2008 metalcore, Boygenius (nominated for several grammy awards this year) is an indie rock supergroup, and Softcult is twin sisters who play shoegazey jams that remind me a lot of Deftones.
Hey Stacy, I just came across your channel a couple weeks ago. I love your reactions. ❤ There are a lot of female singers in metal today who do growls. As far as I know, Rachel Heyzer was one of the first back in the mid 1990s. The first one who became famous for her growls was Angela Gossow, the former lead singer of Arch Enemy. Another early one is Otep Shamaya. Fun fact: She did some dubbing for creatures in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Ghostbusters. But as far as I know, there aren't that many female singers who do growls and beautiful clear vocals. You've already found Floor Jansen from Nightwish, who can also sing deep growls, but doesn't use them very often on stage. Another one is Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox (an older band of her is Iwrestledabearonce).🤘

The vocalist of Jinjer, Tatiana Shmalyuk, has been singing in 8 different bands since she was 15 years old. She has learned to growl by herself. In an interview she told that it was a hard work to learn to growl. This Ukrainian metal band is originally from the Eastern pert of Ukraine, from that territory the Ukrainian government attacked in the spring of 2014 - that was when the civil war, initiated by USA, started in Ukraine. Tatiana was born in 1987, in the year of Cat or Rabbit according to the Chinese horoscope, and her Zodiac sign is PISCES! As a matter of fact Tatiana is telling about herself, abot the traits of character of a Pisces person. There are so many good Jinjer songs on TH-cam. So many I don't think there are too many channels who have covered all of them. They are from Ukraine. Their singer Tatiana lives in the US now. Some suggestions for other Jinjer videos would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air, I Speak Astronomy OMV, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Outlander Official Live at Loudfest, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal, Who is Gonna be the One Live. I had only listened to the studio version of Pisces, so I had no idea why everyone was up in arms about this song. It just sounded like a nice-voiced lady and a screamo dude. It wasn't until I watched the music video that I realized they were one and the same. The fact that she can do that voice and switch so quickly is absolutely incredible.

Well, if you're into metal rabbit holes, Jinjer is a deep one, so is Arch Enemy and many others, but the deepest is Nightwish. Their lead singer, Floor Jansen, can swing from opera to death metal growls in the span of single note. 'Ghost Love Score" is the usual gateway to them, but their repertoire is quite broad and Floor's repertoire is even broader (pop, classical, rock, death metal, etc.) Tatiana is very talented and her "Judgment and Punishment One Take" is a great example of her capabilities. I've seen Jinjer twice and they are amazing, Tatiana is amazing, the band is just so in sync. I would say (and I'm guessing many others will say it too) to listen and watch perennial next. There is a live Wacken video with her in a gold jumpsuit.
This song is all about duality hence the name Pisces, the symbol of two fish swimming in a circle. Ying and yang, soft and heavy, sing and scream, lyrics about the inner battle between life and death, good and bad. Absolutely love this song on so many levels. Such a great reaction, welcome to the Jinjer Army! You are an instant friend with how you fell in love with Tatiana so quickly. Same!! She is a vocal superhero, complete with mild-mannered offstage alter ego and onstage transformation! I call her Captain Metal because she is the most powerful hero in the MCU (Metal Concert Universe)! In my opinion she is the best and most compelling singer of any kind alive on the planet today. The rest of the band is just as good as Tati! She tends to grab the immediate attention with the shock and awe of her transformations, but you'll soon fall in love with Eugene, Vlad and Roman as well. They're all SO good, masters of their crafts. And they're all so passionate and obsessive about their music. Like a football team with no weaknesses, they play perfectly together, they're the strongest overall team in the league. Like a classical orchestra, there's zero ego; they all exist for the betterment of the song. Wait till you check out the lyrics! There's such poetry there. I'm totally here for the empowering messages of feminism (although Tati might not describe herself as a feminist, I do, and I'm a proud feminist myself, having a daughter I love more than anything in the world). For example, Pisces is a song about duality of personality, as symbolized by the zodiac sign of two twined fish swimming in opposite directions. Tatiana and Eugene are Pisces. She shows vulnerability and fragility, then lets her scale armor blaze as she roars her defiance in the chorus. The fish has spent a lifetime struggling to swim upstream against the current. She yearns for a hook of love to catch her so she can see the sunbeam of fulfillment--but sunlight and air are death for a fish, who then suffers on the cutting tables of callous men, until under the knives of handsome butchers, until her scale armor is ripped away, one emerald at a time. It's always fun to watch people react for the first time, regardless of the band/artist, when they realise that they missed out on something great. If you want a list of bands that will blow your mind i gladly provide one for you. Nothing crazy but bands that many other reactors have started out with. The metal genre is wide going from symphonic metal (Nightwish from Finland) to metal core (Slaughter to Prevail with Alex Terrible's growls from hell. Always a treat.) to death metal (could be a love/hate thing, but theres so many different levels within that genre). So happy that you decided to begin your discovery - metal - journey . They opened for popular metal band Disturbed on their recent arena tour, and in between dates they did their own parallel headlining tour in smaller venues. I was able to catch a headlining show and it was to die for! Same a year ago when I first discovered them and saw them headlining live a few weeks later. Instantly my favorite band on the planet! They're writing songs now (probably the guys are done and Tatiana is currently procrastinating in preparation to unleash a torrent of heavenly inspiration on an unsuspecting world). They'll likely go into the studio to record in early 2024, and hopefully there will be new songs to debut at the festival shows they've announced. The new album will probably take the better part of a year to record. Then they will almost certainly be out on the road touring extensively. I highly recommend a Jinjer headlining show at your earliest possible opportunity!! An experience like no other. Festivals are cool; and it's nice to see them gaining new fans by opening for more popular bands. But I needed to see them close up. You can get within feet of the stage. Both times I was compelled to get as close to Tatiana as possible, to watch every move on her face. She's a goddess. When you get close you'll know you're in the presence of royalty.
Jinjer are originally from Eastern Ukraine (Donetsk Region) and has been around since 2008, although none of the current members were "founding members." Tatiana and Roman joined them in 2009, shortly thereafter Eugene joined, and around 2014/2015 Vladi joined. Tatiana "Tati" (Vocals/Songwriter), Roman (Guitar), Eugene (Bass), Vladi (Drums/Musical Composition). Tati is not the only female front/lead in metal, but IMHO, she is absolutely the BEST, and that's "best" female OR male! Falling in love with Tati is the first step to joining the Jinjer Army! These are all excellent suggestions! This is a person after my own heart. I love Jinjer, Spiritbox and Hanabie more than all others I've heard in this genre because all three singers have wonderful clean voices with ability to instantly transform to insane death screams and other forms of harsh vocals. All three are outstanding full bands with full presentation. All three have arresting front women. I have another one for you that I just discovered two days ago: ANKOR from Spain, with lead singer Jessie Williams. Check out Darkbeat, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
If you want some female metal growls, you should listen to Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow and Alissa White-Gluz have a very different way of singing, but both are a pure pleasure to hear. Try Nemesis for Angela (usually the Live in Tokyo is a reference) and the music video of Handshake with Hell for Alissa. And another way of screaming is Courtney LaPlante, from Spiritbox. I think her One Take video of Circle with Me is a great way to get mesmerized. For Jinjer and Tatiana, Judgement and Punishment One Take vocals and Perenial Live at Wacken 2019 are usually the next steps, together with the videos of Vortex, Teacher Teacher and I Speak Astronomy. Jinjer is different - in the best way! Keep on going down this rabbit hole - there is slow, there is fast - it is all talent from this band. Tatiana (for obvious reasons) steals the show, but there is not a missing piece in any of the music behind her - it's all justgreat. It is beautiful in its pieces and then meshes together seamlessly. They shine in their live performances!

Spiritbox (they’re nominated for a grammy this year) can get heavy at times, Dying Wish is a throwback to 2008 metalcore, Boygenius (nominated for several grammy awards this year) is an indie rock supergroup, and Softcult is twin sisters who play shoegazey jams that remind me a lot of Deftones.
That 'wtf?' look as Tatiana goes it to her growl never gets old.

There are a lot of female singers in metal today who do growls. As far as I know, Rachel Heyzer was one of the first back in the mid 1990s. The first one who became famous for her growls was Angela Gossow, the former lead singer of Arch Enemy. Another early one is Otep Shamaya. Fun fact: She did some dubbing for creatures in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Ghostbusters.
But as far as I know, there aren't that many female singers who do growls and beautiful clear vocals. You've already found Floor Jansen from Nightwish, who can also sing deep growls, but doesn't use them very often on stage. Another one is Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox (an older band of her is Iwrestledabearonce).🤘

Another band very similar to Jinjer is Spiritbox. Female fronted and has such a beautiful silky tone, then she screams and rips your face off lol It's amazing, you will 10000% will love them! I seen Jinjer a year ago and she is just as amazing as she is on recordings.
The vocalist of Jinjer, Tatiana Shmalyuk, has been singing in 8 different bands since she was 15 years old. She has learned to growl by herself. In an interview she told that it was a hard work to learn to growl. This Ukrainian metal band is originally from the Eastern pert of Ukraine, from that territory the Ukrainian government attacked in the spring of 2014 - that was when the civil war, initiated by USA, started in Ukraine. Tatiana was born in 1987, in the year of Cat or Rabbit according to the Chinese horoscope, and her Zodiac sign is PISCES! As a matter of fact Tatiana is telling about herself, abot the traits of character of a Pisces person. There are so many good Jinjer songs on TH-cam. So many I don't think there are too many channels who have covered all of them. They are from Ukraine. Their singer Tatiana lives in the US now. Some suggestions for other Jinjer videos would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air, I Speak Astronomy OMV, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Outlander Official Live at Loudfest, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal, Who is Gonna be the One Live. I had only listened to the studio version of Pisces, so I had no idea why everyone was up in arms about this song. It just sounded like a nice-voiced lady and a screamo dude. It wasn't until I watched the music video that I realized they were one and the same.
The fact that she can do that voice and switch so quickly is absolutely incredible.

Well, if you're into metal rabbit holes, Jinjer is a deep one, so is Arch Enemy and many others, but the deepest is Nightwish. Their lead singer, Floor Jansen, can swing from opera to death metal growls in the span of single note. 'Ghost Love Score" is the usual gateway to them, but their repertoire is quite broad and Floor's repertoire is even broader (pop, classical, rock, death metal, etc.)
Tatiana is very talented and her "Judgment and Punishment One Take" is a great example of her capabilities. This song is all about duality hence the name Pisces, the symbol of two fish swimming in a circle. Ying and yang, soft and heavy, sing and scream, lyrics about the inner battle between life and death, good and bad. Absolutely love this song on so many levels. Check out her earrings too, they're little fishes swimming in a circle, the astrological symbol for Pisces.
So many new things to explore. I have seen you review many different styles and your being guided to some amazing music. I will steer you in yet another mind blowing direction. Ren - Either "Hi Ren" or the trillogy of "Money Game 1, 2 and 3".
Such a great reaction, welcome to the Jinjer Army! You are an instant friend with how you fell in love with Tatiana so quickly. Same!! She is a vocal superhero, complete with mild-mannered offstage alter ego and onstage transformation! I call her Captain Metal because she is the most powerful hero in the MCU (Metal Concert Universe)! In my opinion she is the best and most compelling singer of any kind alive on the planet today.
The rest of the band is just as good as Tati! She tends to grab the immediate attention with the shock and awe of her transformations, but you'll soon fall in love with Eugene, Vlad and Roman as well. They're all SO good, masters of their crafts. And they're all so passionate and obsessive about their music. Like a football team with no weaknesses, they play perfectly together, they're the strongest overall team in the league. Like a classical orchestra, there's zero ego; they all exist for the betterment of the song.
Wait till you check out the lyrics! There's such poetry there. I'm totally here for the empowering messages of feminism (although Tati might not describe herself as a feminist, I do, and I'm a proud feminist myself, having a daughter I love more than anything in the world). For example, Pisces is a song about duality of personality, as symbolized by the zodiac sign of two twined fish swimming in opposite directions. Tatiana and Eugene are Pisces. She shows vulnerability and fragility, then lets her scale armor blaze as she roars her defiance in the chorus. The fish has spent a lifetime struggling to swim upstream against the current. She yearns for a hook of love to catch her so she can see the sunbeam of fulfillment--but sunlight and air are death for a fish, who then suffers on the cutting tables of callous men, until under the knives of handsome butchers, until her scale armor is ripped away, one emerald at a time. Is the fish better off for having been caught? We can only wonder, but Tatiana was married a while ago, so some lucky soul named Alex Lopez is currently enjoying the gourmet fillet.

If you want a list of bands that will blow your mind i gladly provide one for you. Nothing crazy but bands that many other reactors have started out with.
The metal genre is wide going from symphonic metal (Nightwish from Finland) to metal core (Slaughter to Prevail with Alex Terrible's growls from hell. Always a treat.) to death metal (could be a love/hate thing, but theres so many different levels within that genre).

@@StaceyRPGReacts they just finished a dual North American tour weeks ago. They opened for popular metal band Disturbed on their recent arena tour, and in between dates they did their own parallel headlining tour in smaller venues.
I was able to catch a headlining show and it was to die for! Same a year ago when I first discovered them and saw them headlining live a few weeks later. Instantly my favorite band on the planet!
They're writing songs now (probably the guys are done and Tatiana is currently procrastinating in preparation to unleash a torrent of heavenly inspiration on an unsuspecting world). They'll likely go into the studio to record in early 2024, and hopefully there will be new songs to debut at the festival shows they've announced. The new album will probably take the better part of a year to record. Then they will almost certainly be out on the road touring extensively.
I highly recommend a Jinjer headlining show at your earliest possible opportunity!! An experience like no other. Festivals are cool; and it's nice to see them gaining new fans by opening for more popular bands. But I needed to see them close up. You can get within feet of the stage. Both times I was compelled to get as close to Tatiana as possible, to watch every move on her face. She's a goddess. When you get close you'll know you're in the presence of royalty.
Jinjer are originally from Eastern Ukraine (Donetsk Region) and has been around since 2008, although none of the current members were "founding members." Tatiana and Roman joined them in 2009, shortly thereafter Eugene joined, and around 2014/2015 Vladi joined. Tatiana "Tati" (Vocals/Songwriter), Roman (Guitar), Eugene (Bass), Vladi (Drums/Musical Composition). Tati is not the only female front/lead in metal, but IMHO, she is absolutely the BEST, and that's "best" female OR male! Falling in love with Tati is the first step to joining the Jinjer Army! Several years ago I saw Jinjer live as a support band. I didn't know them before. I was blown away by their sound and their singer Tatiana. Now they are bigger than the band they supported at that time.

The band is so balanced and I love how they play off each other, without ego, creating complete songs. These are all excellent suggestions! This is a person after my own heart. I love Jinjer, Spiritbox and Hanabie more than all others I've heard in this genre because all three singers have wonderful clean voices with ability to instantly transform to insane death screams and other forms of harsh vocals. All three are outstanding full bands with full presentation. All three have arresting front women.
I have another one for you that I just discovered two days ago: ANKOR from Spain, with lead singer Jessie Williams. Check out Darkbeat, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
If you want some female metal growls, you should listen to Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow and Alissa White-Gluz have a very different way of singing, but both are a pure pleasure to hear. Try Nemesis for Angela (usually the Live in Tokyo is a reference) and the music video of Handshake with Hell for Alissa. And another way of screaming is Courtney LaPlante, from Spiritbox. I think her One Take video of Circle with Me is a great way to get mesmerized. For Jinjer and Tatiana, Judgement and Punishment One Take vocals and Perenial Live at Wacken 2019 are usually the next steps, together with the videos of Vortex, Teacher Teacher and I Speak Astronomy. Jinjer is different - in the best way!
Keep on going down this rabbit hole - there is slow, there is fast - it is all talent from this band. Tatiana (for obvious reasons) steals the show, but there is not a missing piece in any of the music behind her - it's all justgreat. It is beautiful in its pieces and then meshes together seamlessly.
