I really love the way your Pinterest inspired outfits often end up looking nothing like the original. Which sounds odd to say, but it’s a real testament to the fact that taking inspiration isn’t the same as copying - and illustrates how much play a limited closet can support. If you don’t own a particular item that’s in the inspiration outfit you don’t need to go buy it or abandon the inspiration - you can find something in your closet that serves the purpose, and if that sets the whole ensemble off in a new direction, that’s ok too!
So nice to watch you show us how to “shop your closet”. I just watched an influencer tell her audience that a classic black riding boot is out of style and will make them look old and that instead they should wear another black boot from a company she was promoting. So frustrating to hear her tell her audience not to wear a boot that they likely already own when the two boots were actually interchangeable.
Yes! More functional fashion please! My life is 90% function first, so it can be a challenge to feel put together when weather and other things are happening.
So cute! I'm inspired to mix it up a bit on a rainy day in Pennsylvania. And I laughed out loud at, "Hands free, so I can shake my fist at the weather!"😆
I messaged you on IG a while back asking for a video on how to dress practically for a rainy day. So glad to see this, thank you for the video!! I always struggle with dressing in rainy weather when I don't want to ruin my beautiful leather shoes.
I love when you end up with a look you never would have put together on your own but that you love. That, to me, is way more of a win than replicating the inspiration look ✨
North east England here. It rained the whole of July and august, a mini heatwave at the beginning of September, then rain ever since. Waterproofs are always a safe bet. The forecast for next week? - rain.
Thank you from rainy UK! Yes, shorter skirts are weirdly better in winter than in hot summer weather. Great with any boots & nice if you’re struggling to feel feminine under all the warm layers.
As someone who lives in the UK my favorite "raincoat" is my 100% wool broadcloth *heavy* winter coat. Unless I am standing in the pissing rain it has kept me dry and the one and only time it has wet through the shirt I had on underneath managed to wick the water up from the cuff that was sticking out before my coat wet through (and my coat still kept me warm to the extent that I stripped the shirt off and put my coat back on)
I live on the west coast of Canada and honestly do not consider any of these outfits to be real raingear. I rely on a waterproof hooded coat from MEC and tall rubber boots. Or, if the rain is lighter, perhaps one of my pairs of waterproof leather boots - but never running shoes because I don't like wet feet. My trench coat is only water repellant, and that doesn't cut it in heavy rain. Umbrellas are not much use if you have to carry things like groceries. In the years when I was a soccer mom and regularly camped with groups of children, I owned multiple sets of waterproof raincoats and rainpants. I do like the idea of wearing a purse under my coat as that keeps the purse dry, and ball caps are helpful under the jacket hood to keep rain off your face. Where I live we get freezing rain as well, so having a hooded down jacket that fits under your waterproof coat is nice. I love rain and hope that my smile compensates for my lack of style.
Everything I wear my Hunter patent rain boots, I get compliments! I bought them at a Nordstrom sale, before I was into fashion at all! What a fortunate day!
I have an “addiction” to Hunter boots personally 😂😅 I love them so much for everything… even none rainy days! They make you impervious to anything it feels like!
Being from rainy Washington State USA, I really appreciate this! One of my rain coats is burgundy and I wasn’t sure how to really wear it. Now I have ideas! Now to get out my leopard umbrella
I visited Seattle in May this year and bought an elegant London Fog rain coat specifically for the trip thinking it’s going to be raining most of the time. Not only did it not rain the entire time, but it was clear, sunny, and low eighties Fahrenheit every day. I was a little shocked 😂
Great video! Yes! Maritime Montreal!😉 Water often runs down the hilly sidewalks instead of the gutters - so no to canvas runners ✅ and honestly - your baseball cap idea is genius!! 🎉
Hi Alyssa, This was an awesome and useful video. I liked how you presented your thought process for the first outfit. The grey sweat shirt outfit is something I would have picked out, looked at myself and noticed something was off and given up. However your thought process out loud helps unstuck my line of thinking. Thank you for the inspiration. I would love to see a video on footwear for winter for work and casual look. I struggle styling the wide leg pants with the appropriate footwear for work indoors during winter. 😊. Thank you for the inspiration.
One of the UK creators, I think it was Nina Lea Caine, put me onto leather hi-top Converse to beat the wet, Manchester/English weather and I love them!
In the UK here. In heavy rain, I would go for a proper raincoat, I have a great one from Ilse Jacobsen that layers well. Last year I bought some secondhand pleather joggers that are also great for wet weather.
Awesome paring. Really liked all the styles. It was very helpful due to the fact that it hardly rains in LA and it’s hard to dress for that type of weather here.
I’m loving my Truth over Glory (Tog24) raincoat for walking in the rain. It has lots of good pockets, and an adjustable hood. They also come in a range of colours. If it’s cold as well as wet, dark wool trousers and leather boots.
I truly love this video! Yes those rainy days are tough to style but this video was really helpful and I have versions of these items! Delighted to style myself now!
Hi Alyssa, do you have a video about how to layer. And i mean LAYER. Like sweater, vest, jacket, coat ... All the things. Would love some tips for that.
Another super creative, good feeling video. You generate such a positive, light-hearted creative energy! Thank you, please continue making these videos they’re all just wonderful!
Living in northern Europe (and having lived in the UK and Ireland, as well)… that “weird rainy time” you refer to is the weather i have lived with 9 months of the year, all my life 😂
These outfits are all so inspirational! For some reason, this year, when I pulled out my sweaters and other fall/winter clothes, I didn't have my usual excitement about the pieces I hadn't seen in many months. Thanks for reminding me I can play around with them and find some unusual pairings that make everything feel new!
WE don't get much rain in Phoenix, AZ, but I would use these looks when it does. I have short rain boots that would work with any of these looks. I follow Lydia Tomlinson and love her style. Your own interpretations were very nice.
Sometimes you read my mind! With that last look, I was sitting here thinking hmmmm… I don’t have a long, leatherish coat, but I wonder how my black bomber would be… and then you said that and showed it to us! Lydia clearly is not going out into the rain because she still has her sunglasses on. Ha ha. But I still follow her because I learn so much from her!
Watching this on a rainy morning in Ottawa, I loved this as it really resonated with me, being from the UK rain is second nature us and I love my burgundy wellie boots... thanks for the great ideas!!!
You ALWAYS inspire me to shop my closet. This video is just another example of that. Love all the outfits and I actually like your version of Lydia's outfit better....:)
Talk about weird weather-it’s going to be 80 here!!!’ I wish I could dress for fall/I’m ready to transition but it’s just not gonna happen today! Thanks for all these wonderful ideas -if and when I ever see rain 😂
Sporty is what we do in Vancouver alright. I really don't get the ballcap thing, but I guess it's because I'm of an older generation. Thank you for the great food for thought.
And no umbrella, right? I'm sitting here in rainy Seattle smiling every time Alyssa mentions it. You rarely see an umbrella in Seattle but I can't remember if I have seen more of them in Vancouver or not.
Great rainy day tips! I live in Ottawa so we often have cold rainy days, and I wear my Canadian Blondo brand booties a lot as they are totally waterproof and still look very stylish! Thanks Alyssa!
I loved your version of all these looks and how you made them your own… What date will we receive the inspiration looks for the workshop? I signed up 10/22
Drizabone jacket from Australia might be a good investment? We bought ours when visiting, and after 20 years, from east coast Canada to SW France....rain cover...
I think my mother was the first person in history 😂 to invent shaking fists at the world. Why? Because she is a master at it! Her whole face scrunches up when she does it, body too! 😂😂😂 Great video, living in New England, we need to dress for the weather frequently too…. Thank you!
I loove when you show practical outfits for us not living in place that is sunny & warm all year round. I do think though that Emmas picture with the shiny boots were perfect as she colour coordinated the boots with a black umbrella. Don’t forget that the colour of the umbrella is impotent as you use it outside. The wrong colour can ruin the look, in my humble opinion…
The grey was good, could have used car and fanny pack to feel less frumpy...I did not think it WAS frumpy....good natural colours, Japanese sensibility
Uk resident here! Yes lots of rain. Do I need rain boots??? I wear some leather water proofs, which sometimes I wish were longer. I have been in this dilema for years. Are they a need?
I don’t know if you will see this But can you make a video on how to change your aesthetic/style without buying anything new For example I would like to have a more vintage and romantic style but I don’t want to buy new clothing how can I shop my closet and change my aesthetic
What really annoys me about trench coats as they are often barely showerproof, never mind coping with full on rain. I have a waterproof rain coat but it is that rectangular practical shape they tend to be. We need more waterproof stylish coats.
But your surname is "Beltempo"😊 here in Italy bel tempo means sunny weather...good time...ahah...excuse my orrible language...I'm very dummy in english!

Oh, I adore the second outfit with the two varieties of red- so visually interesting.
I first used the "hack" of tucking my bag under my trench coat for practical reasons: it protects it from heavy rain! (I alos live in Vancouver!)❤!
So cute! I'm inspired to mix it up a bit on a rainy day in Pennsylvania. And I laughed out loud at, "Hands free, so I can shake my fist at the weather!"😆

I love how you let function lead the creation of the outfits. This could be a series…
This is an exceptional video where I can really see how you are adapting someone else's look to what you have. I will look at this video frequently.

Red mini, wellies, and burgundy coat ❤ super cute combo! Chefs kiss!
Thanks Christina!
where I live, we have 3 seasons of rain.
waterproof footwear and a hooded jacket is all that's needed.
Everything I wear my Hunter patent rain boots, I get compliments! I bought them at a Nordstrom sale, before I was into fashion at all! What a fortunate day!

Yes. It really doesn’t rain ALL the time, but a good trench coat is always handy.
Ooooh sounds lovely Kathy!
Great video! Yes! Maritime Montreal!😉 Water often runs down the hilly sidewalks instead of the gutters - so no to canvas runners ✅ and honestly - your baseball cap idea is genius!! 🎉
The red on red is so beautiful. I love color on a rainy day. It makes me happy. Nicely done
Loved look 2 with mix of reds and wellies ..brighten up the gloom🤓
Love this! Thank you for adressing the miserable-weather-style issue. My Hunter wellies will start to work

I loved all of these but especially the last one…very 90’s Jerry Seinfeld 😂
Love from the PNW ♥️
This dropped for me on a rainy Sunday afternoon in the UK. Perfect timing. I will be using your tips x
We have flooding here on the Isle of Wight. Sigh.
@@AlexLouiseWest it’s been a damp dreary old day. Hope there’s no damage.

Yup rainy days/ weeks,I live in Oregon! ☔
So helpful! Would you consider an early autumn snow version. Just got almost 12 inches here.
This was great. Now how do we look presentable at this time of year when we have to travel by bicycle.
You are helping me so much with my style
unless those Converse are made of leather, ain't no way I would wear them on a rainy day😂
your recreations are great as usual!

Ooooh fun!! Love this idea thanks Lia xoxo
Love the simplicity and casual aspect of these outfits.

Thank you! I’m from California (Rain? What’s that?) and traveling soon to Vancouver, so this is very helpful information.
I can really relate, I live in Phoenix, lol ! Heading to San Francisco next week so maybe rain ???
LOVE the red!

Hi Tracey! So sorry for the delay - we switched our email system and there was a glitch … working on this asap!
I’m voting for a black umbrella given your propensities. That umbrella is a bit outré against all of those cool outfits. Great ideas! Thank you.
Good way of looking at clothing.

I really like your outfits ad layering, but does one really keep their outerwear unbuttoned/not zipped while walking in the rain? 😮

Uk resident here! Yes lots of rain. Do I need rain boots??? I wear some leather water proofs, which sometimes I wish were longer. I have been in this dilema for years. Are they a need?
I’d say a need would be boots that keep your feet dry. Leather ones treated with Dubbin, or rubber ones with thick socks.
@@karensumpter7752 🙏 I agree, I think I’ll give them a go. I feel I don’t wear dresses when it’s raining because of my tights getting wet.
I'm not even asking for rain, just for the temperature to drop below 25 degrees to wear a long sleeve shirt😂
I don't want to spoil the style trick, to wear white leather trainers in the rain. But I ruined mine last week walking in the rain...😢
