Omg you're the first influencer I've seen actually RECOMMEND pushing up a bulkier sleeve over a more fitted sleeve!! It's so much fun and can be very helpful in creating balance with a shoe.
Thank you for offering tips and techniques that can be applied to clothes that are already in the closet and don’t necessarily require new purchases. I love the “shopping your own closet” philosophy while still being able to create new looks or try out different trends by tweaking what you have in your wardrobe.
You are my favorite style teacher. I have learned so much. Tweak: it’s a noun and a verb, and a sport played daily in front of our mirrors. ❤Thanks Alyssa!
I have been layering according to most of your tips for years. As I have got older I need to be warmer. Winter is a nightmare for me and am so happy the fashion is backing me up so I don’t look bundled up. Happy now!!!
This is a wonderful video. I’m not a fronttucker but it looks fine on you. The gifted plastic bracelet adds a welcome touch of whimsy. Ignore the negative people.
My favorite base layer is a long sleeved silk jersey tee or turtleneck, but I live in a mild-winter climate, and I have hypersensitive skin, too. I prefer merino or cashmere as a second layer, even great quality cashmere or merino can irritate my skin. I mostly wear the silk turtlenecks at home, because the collars are always wrinkly-looking, silk is so soft and drapey. I also love a Pima cotton long-sleeved first layer, LLBean makes nice ones. I just got two of their Pima turtlenecks, the collars are neither floppy nor tight, they stand perfectly and are comfy, and they have the petite lengths I need. Most importantly, they don’t contain Spandex, which I detest. Wool blends with cotton or silk can be nice, too, Sezane has nice sets in wool/cotton and Lily Silk in silk/cashmere. (I don’t wear any synthetics).
I love the way you analyse and explain the elements of an outfit really simply. The comparing outfits with a different element changes the outfit and really highlights creativity that is easy for us to play with ourselves. Thank you 💜
I ALWAYS get new styling ideas from each video. Especially when it comes to proportions and/or silhouettes that will work for me. It's kinda astonishing how much I glean from each vid ❤
I love your gray Polo sweater, that’s my favorite style. I searched for years for these until they finally came back in, and for contrast trim. These are two classic styles I always loved. Quince has very nice, affordable cashmere Polo sweaters in most basic and dark colors, and Banana Republuc has them in lighter colors, but are more expensive.
Good morning to all of yours! Thank you Alyssa for all ur experience and help us to be more created with the clothing we have already! and be conscience when we shop that a good way to help the planet! Happy Sunday Funday to all of yours! 💥😊😇🙌🥰🤗❤🌏
Wonderful ideas today. I have a turtleneck that doesn't seem to fit my body so well but I love the colour. It will now look great under a heavier sweater.
You are so loved! I was the 2nd person to like this video and while I am watching this the likes have increased to 40. Your message is valuable to me and many other people. I was cool to see!
I absolutely love this video, Alyssa. It resonated with me so much. Your energy and fabulous practical tips and tweaks are simply the best on YT. Many, many thanks ❤
So funny, earlier this week I was buying a sweater outside what would be my normal choice/ silhouette I thought well Alyssa would approve. Got it home and I love it!

@lundaprather2138 And earlier this week I shopped my own closet a la Alyssa to go out to dinner. Layered a dress I usually only wear in the fall over a turtleneck, added tights, boots and a leather jacket; then a cashmere scarf and voila! Had this incredible outfit I will wear again, but which I would've never thought of before watching her videos!
Great video Alyssa! Thanks for sharing these ideas and showing us the visual impact of each. I know not everyone prefers a tucked sweater, cropped pants etc., but I don’t think the point hinges on any individual item or style tweak. I think it’s about considering these suggestions, seeing what visual impacts resonate with each of us, and then we can each go to our closets and experiment to create looks we enjoy but might not otherwise have considered. And with newfound options in our closets, we have less inclination to shop. I’m 5’11” and have always felt like capri pants look awkward on me, so I avoid them. That said, it wouldn’t dissuade me from watching a video of yours showcasing capri pants, since I’m pretty certain I’d learn from it. Sending a hug of appreciation from Connecticut! -Jen
Could you do an episode where you shop your husband’s closet?? 😁 Love love your channel btw - superr inspired. Got rid of so many clothes the I Did Not Need and I feel so much better and smarter about what I have on my wardrobe! Still in the process of perfecting and also finding my style and 3 words after having 2 babies but you make each small concept make SO much sense and you are so adorable too 🤍 Thanks so much for this channel. You’ve made a very large impact on my lifestyle ox
this is fantastic. i thrive in spring and summer. fall and winter fashion is always so challenging for me. these are simple tips and i have pieces that work for all of these!
Great tips Alyssa, and living in Ottawa Canada, fine knit merino sweaters are my “go to” all winter long to keep me warm and stylish! They fit perfectly under anything, including blazers and jackets! Thanks again for your wonderful videos!
Thank you. I don't like lightweight sweaters or turtlenecks but I've only ever worn them separate. Now I see that they could be a fabulous part of my wardrobe because I love depth. I'll have to start looking.
Wow! It really looks like adding a whole new dimension to the idea of layering.... How about taking it even further by discussing color and pattern in the same context? I would love to see a video like that! 🙂
My first layer under knits is always a natural fiber that's easily washable to protect them from perspiration odor. I remember my mom used to have dress shields that she would quickly tack into the underarms of her sweaters for that purpose. I wonder why that practice went to the wayside.
I bought a Nordgreen watch with interchangeable leather straps a couple of years ago. I find it to be so versatile and wear it often. Last year I bought another one with a white strap to complete the set. Love, love, love them! Thanks for showing us how it's done Alyssa! xx
Wearing my Nordgreen watch today thx to you. Don’t need much layering here in coastal California where it’s 75f today other than a blazer, but great tips!
Watching this video makes me realise I need to attend more to the length of my jeans and trousers! I have some beautiful boots, and because I'm very short, even petite length jeans and pants can hit me in the wrong spot, making overall look off. I need to find the sweet spot for my leg 😂
Thanks Alyssa. It takes a lot of energy to be creative sometimes.i have a few wraps that I toss over plain turtle necks because warm is the goal! Thanks for some new ideas❤
Great ideas yet again, Alyssa! Definitely part of my daily wardrobe planning for colder weather months here in SE Michigan. It's really fun to put something that I have had for years with something recently acquired for a first time...again and again! 😁May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving weekend. We are thankful for you! ❤
I loved this video! I live in a colder climate and often resign fashion during winter, but this gave me helpful tips! And I LOVED the grey v-neck you have in the intro. May I ask where it's from? Or if you know where I could find such a piece. It looks thin but high quality and has a great hold it seems. Again, thanx for this!
A great lens you have given us here on "layering", Alyssa. Last year I used your Nordgreen code to buy the Unika watch. Love it! You mentioned that I can use the code again if I ever wanted to buy another Nordgreen. SO good!
I just got a nordgreen watch with their sale - the 28mm native with mother of pearl face with brown leather strap and free yellow gold 5 link chain. Beautiful watch. Simple, clean, goes with everything and fits my 7” wrist no problem.
I was looking all the time at that "Indian" style jacket or western jacket with the stripe detailing. I wanted you to style with that one. I like the technique used here to layer. We never seem to think about the type of layering we want to use. It's always just throw on over top of something.
I just bought some oversized bomber jackets (the ones with orange lining). I am going to layer tank or fine knit turtle, flannel shirt, knit vest under oversized bomber this winter :)
I love layering and appreciate this video Quick question-I have a large Watch collection which I haven’t worn much since getting my FitBit. Any ideas on how to wear BOTH my FitBit AND my watches with other bracelets? It’s a slimline FitBit…..
Another helpful and fun video. Thank you! I'm on a quest to find a few quality merino wool pieces. Now... what can you share with us about that cool copper pot on the floor. What is it? How do you use it? Where do I find? Thanks for ur reply!🧡🍁🧡
Hey. So, you were the kid that layered the tank tops in highschool? Or the long sleeve under the t-shirt? I'm curious lol because I love having my under layer show too and I'm like wondering if it's leftovers from when we were younger!
So helpful heading into the colder weather in Ottawa. Do you have any recommendations for those under layers you have, as I have struggled to find fitted ones?
Cat hair can be viewed as Kitty glitter✨It always adds an extra element to every outfit😂

I always push up my sleeves and even got metal bracelets meant to hold up blazer sleeves. It’s such a great styling tweak.
I have been layering according to most of your tips for years. As I have got older I need to be warmer. Winter is a nightmare for me and am so happy the fashion is backing me up so I don’t look bundled up. Happy now!!!

I like the way you layer. You are so creative and inspiring. I love layering more now thanks to you. Thank you!
Love the sleeve element. Such cool and simple, yet unexpected detail. I love learning always something new from you.

yaaay, layering video!! I feel like I am becoming addicted, because I want more tips! I need part 2 desperately😂
Thanks for the tip on not quite matching neutral accessories. I was glad to hear you say that. :)
I ALWAYS get new styling ideas from each video. Especially when it comes to proportions and/or silhouettes that will work for me. It's kinda astonishing how much I glean from each vid ❤
Amazing as usual. Thank you for validating cat hair as styling detail.
I love Sleeve choice! I never considered doing it myself. Love love love the cream belt.
I always wear a cotton T shirt under a chunky knit so I can take the knit off if it's hot indoors, and to protect it from sweat and reduce washing.
Very interesting . I especially liked when you showed pulling up the sleeves and showing the the sleeves underneath. Thanks for a great video.
These videos are so helpful thank you! Keep em' coming 😄

Alyssa has a pretty streamlined closet, color and pattern are out of her wheelhouse. Her closet wouldn’t be able to easily support such a discussion.
So great! I’m repeating myself, but… I always learn so much ❤

How would you achieve this proportion play without a heel in winter? I feel like the heeled boot adds to it so much, but I tend to prioritise comfort!
