Yea you are right!! Each family has their own unique way of preparing meen curry. Ours is a bit different from yours.Avoiding onion will increase the life of the curry as it will keep the curry uncontaminated for a couple of days in room temp

I can only dream of making this (in the US) no fresh fish, no clay pots, no wood-pressed coconut oil, no fresh green chillies of this variety or Indian shallots, no garcinia cambogia, and since my only Indian grocery went out of business, no curry leaves. But still, a dream is better than nothing. Thank you.

It appears that the 'cutting board' technology has not reached Kerala yet. You do not have to risk your finger getting cut if you use the 'cutting board' technology. Put the item on a wooden board or plastic cutting board and cut it with a knife.

This is a wonderful recipe. Easy of make. Satisfying and nutritious. I'm a north Indian and yet i found this an utter delight. Made for lunch today. Super pick. Small changes, I used regular tamarind soaked in water. And used Rohu fish.

    • @sumitadey6899

@@sumitadey6899 Yes , frying the fish to make the curry is a very bong thing. And I think it is done so that the pieces dont fall apart . Hence as you see in the video they rotate the container and dont stir vigorously either. I marinate the fish in a mustard -black pepper - Turmeric - salt mix for 45 minutes while I get the spices cut and cooked before the fish is cooked. No malayalee households do this before making a curry . We just do this because we love the mustard heat along with the black pepper !

You can use mustard oil, so there is no need of adding mustard seeds. You can prepare any fish in this recipie but fishes with rigid meat would be much better.
