Regarding the Andres Gimenez contract: Remember that a new CBA goes into effect before the 2027 season, right before the salary of Gimenez escalates to $23.5M annually. The luxury tax threshold will be increased, and who knows where player salaries go with that new CBA.
I think the front office is the black mark on the reputation of the franchise. During a recent podcast appearance Ken Rosenthal said he hates the Jays front office and how they operate. Rosenthal said that the Jays had no business trying to sign Soto or Ohtani when they haven't given Bichette or Guerrero contract extensions. I agree and I don't see things getting better until Atkins gets fired
Shout out to me for calling this FULL REBUILD for about 2 years now....I told you guys Rogers and Shatkins were gonna end up rebuilding 🙂 Great episode. Always a fun watch. On a side note if Vladdy goes to the Mets next Nov (and he will)...I will officially be a Mets fan after following the jays since i was a boy..Im so done with this org if that happens.
I think you guys are right on the mark, and asking the right questions at this point, I was also thinking re-build. I still think it isn’t impossible to be competitive this season, but it all depends on Ross.
The Phillies tend to be desperate for a closer every year, and willing to overpay for one. Looking at Romano's 2024 season, I saw a lot of parallels to Kirby Yates' 2020 season. We saw what happened to Yates in 2021. My question is could the Jays have tendered an offer, and then traded him to get something in return?
@@Dulcimerist this was my main gripe . Asset retention is really poor with this regime . Holding onto assets too long, and letting assets walk for nothing.
Devin Williams would be a dream but again this management team has wasted years of potential time to build a farm system and tradable assets and I just have a hard time believing they would win a trade for what would be such a highly sought after piece for contending teams. If Williams is getting traded I would bet the house it being to one of the usual suspects.

Jays will be White Sox version 2.
