TSN you guys need to add timestamp/chapters on the videos cause your cheesy intro would be 10-20 mins long and end up talking about the actual subject/news for 5-10 mins mixed in with other random stuff that doesn’t have anything to do with the subject you guys are talking about. Horwitz OPS 125 - Gimmy OPS 82. This means Horwitz is a much better offensive player. Horwitz WAR is 1.2 - Gimmy is 4. This means when they play Gimmy has more value to winning. BUT!!!!! Like most stats saying Gimmy is more valuable at winning, tells one part of an infinite story. Jays need offense to win - that's what's more valuable for them. Their overall improvement must come via offense not defense. It's like you have a hole in the boat, then sell your patch kit for a rudder that makes your steering stronger, yet there was nothing wrong with the steering strength, it was doing fine enough - you need to fix the hole. They spent a whole season grooming Horwitz at 2nd. They have made knee jerk move after knee jerk move to get a left hitting power guy - even drafted Horwitz for that reason. Then trade Horwitz for another IKF, tighten the defense on a offensively struggling team. Atkins makes decisions that could be deemed mental retardation, switch from year to year in such dramatic fashion. His results are proof! Point is! Make a trade for a 3rd baseman, OF without giving away offense, if you can't sign one - we didn't need a defensive light hitting 2nd baseman.
I watch a lot of baseball. Defensively, Gimenez is the best 2nd baseman in the game period. He's also super gritty. He led baseball in hit by pitches in 2022 with 25 and has followed that up with 35 HBP the last 2 seasons, while remaining healthy throughout. Gimenez can definitely take one for the team. I'm still contemplating trading a player who steals 30 bases a year at a near 90% success rate and has to potential to hit around .300 (In 2022, Gimenez batted .297 and slugged around .450). He's only 26 years old and, although he struggled at the plate recently, he's still a year or 2 away from his prime. On average, hitters peak productive years occur between the ages of 27 to 33. It's not hard to think this trade occurred because of a an overly rigid financial dogma within the Cleveland organization.
Why do we need another defensive specialist. Did we not learn our lesson with Varsho? We could have gurriel still and mareno. Like plz tell me how adding defence is what the jays need. Fire atkins and Shapiro yesterday.
Are their no bats coming out of highschool, college/universities or the DR, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, seems to be only Arms these days, Blue Jay's scouts need to start digging deep to all corners of everything baseball
Gave up a plus offensive player last year for a very bad offensive player who cost a lot more. They need more offence and they have less now. Seems strange to me. Hes very good defender.
Very good defender? He might be the best defensive player in the game. He's a platinum glove winner. He will save some games with his glove. He's a very good on the bases. He will give you 20+ steals. His bat has been inconsistent last two years and will chase a lot of bad pitches, but can be clutch at times. He was great at the plate in 2022 but hasn't been the same at the plate last two years. I watch all 162 Guardians Games, so I know this player well.
@johnruffier8036 Yeah that's why I said very good. Should I have said very, very good ? 😂 It's just strange to be after a defensive specialist who has had their offence disappear when the number one glaring needs for them is offence.
@SidiousPalp What do you project Horwitz ceiling to be? Gimenez is a proven player. He's younger than Spencer. He possibly hasn't reached his peak yet. 20hr, 80rbi, 35sb, .270avg would be a dream realistic ceiling for Gimenez. He has a good floor. Spencer looks good at the plate. Hopefully he shines in Pittsburgh. Cleveland getting a nice SP back in the deal. Good moves for all teams.
@@SidiousPalp Phenomenal, remarkable, or superior would better describe his defense. He was a very good hitter in 2022 and might regain that. I'm not happy he's gone.
Loss🏟Atkins finally doing some trades that Jays win it's about time. But unless they get Santander & another HR bat they won't go far again bc management can't just depend on Vlad to hit all the homeruns. He needs help. Gimenez is a great defensive pickup but he ain't gonna hit homeruns to help Vlad or Varsho etc. Hopefully more to go for the Jays. Losing out on Ohtani & now Soto the best way to appease the fan base is to be very active with top free agents not has been players like they brought in last off-season. Old washed up signings ain't gonna cut it nomore not if you are serious about winning. Us Jays fans have been so patient with this team now for the past ten years it's time that Beavis & Butthead Shapiro & Atkins deliver us a true post season contender. It still makes me mad that we didn't keep Simien he was so good that one season then they just let him walk the Jays need 2 to 4 good power hitters not these slap hitters that they've been cheaping out on bc the big teams just keep using Beavis & Butthead as Scott Boris leverage. Jays have lots of money if they cheap out again the fans will keep being turned off until this management gets fired. At least with Alex A he spoke to us like real humans not this corporate word salad garbage Atkins always says. How does Loss Atkins not know his own fanbase hates him.😂 Intelligent fans never want to hear a bunch of word salad. It feels like Atkins is Kamala Harris kid!🤣
Phillips logic (on a team trying to win this year) - lets give up a drafted player we've spent last season grooming him at second (and in the minors), filling our long time suffering cry for a left handed stick, who has pop, on a team suffering for offense, our one-to -very-few bright spots of rookies last year, for a light hitting defensive player JUST INCASE Bo leaves NEXT YEAR (when Atkins is gone), while you need a 3rd baseman, and outfielder, plus a bullpen - oh yea! did I mention the team said they wanted to be championship ready this year? ...Loserss hang with loserss man.
A guy that can't hit it is what we missed.. especially at second base where we have 40 that can field and can't hit consistently. Fire this management team time to rebuild
Jays need hitting so they got a player who has diminished hitting skills and trade away their second best hitter from last season. Makes sense in crazy land
For me multiple good players for the Soto money would be a BIGGER statement as a fan.
Agreed!

20 million for a player that doesn’t address the offense on a team with a limited budget?
Finally someone else who doesn't think it makes sense. They might have 20 million at most left to spend and more holes than Swiss cheese
Waste of money if they don't address the hitting. I'm not watching a team that makes solid defensive plays every game but loses 2-1 to the whitesox...
We can build this team with money well spent 💰🇨🇦😆🇺🇸

Jays only chance is to trade Vlad for a few prospects. It’s time for a real leader.
