According to Charlie Day, there are qualities when it comes to eating paint chips off the wall. Let's hope our front office finds the good paint. Glorious show as always.
The Blue Jays are an enigmatic team. When no deals are even on the scope of the horizon. All of the talk public talk about the Blue Jays have been externally not internally. I look at the team and question this. Is the Blue Jays front office hubris so big that they can't acknowledge their problems. No major league ready prospect cupboard, no long term investments in players other than Rodriguez and now Gimenez (Berrios has the Opt Out). This franchise still hasn't won a single playoff game since 2016. Collectively 0-6 since 2020. The fanbase witnesses a monumental undertaking of a 300M+ stadium renovation (I still say it was necessary) which causes ticket prices to change and shift, snack prices to change and shift. Pick a direction and let the fans make a decision. For the last two years. I've felt alienated as a fan of this team. Show me that you care.

The problem with player like Yordan Alvarez is the way they make it to MLB. They usually flee Cuba and then are kind of forced to sign cheap contracts.
I'd love to know how many baseball executives looked at the Jays 2024 season and think, " You know what this team needs? A defensive 1st 2nd baseman that can hit 7th in the lineup!" ... just unbelievable.
It was a very good trade for the Jays. They needed a top end 2nd baseman and that alone will improve the pitching which was a major reason for the team to slide.
@johnsummerhill8323 so .... then using prospect capitol to aquire a 2nd baseman... when you already have ... ...like..... 40 in the organization... It seems kinda stupid to me !! It always appears that Shapiro and Atkins are trying to garnish a cake...... that's made of concrete !!!.
The direction of team is wholly dependant on Vlad's signability. If the FO extends him then other FA must be signed to be competitive. If they can't extend him it's time to trade him and tear it down. The worse situation is not extending Vlad and signing a bunch of FA's.
The farm system will be better with the promotion of Marc Tramuta as the Blue Jays director of amateur scouting. He has reached terms with Christopher Polanco from the DR and has signed Owen Gregg from Oakville. With the continued development of Arjun Nimmala this gives Toronto three talented infielders. Look for Nimmala to reach Buffalo by 2026 and hope that Polanco and Gregg make the Bisons squad by the end of 2028.
The Soto contract is going to have terrible repercussions for years to come in the league. Vlad should not be earning more than Harper or Betts and anyone saying he should be paid $500m is delusional. Trade him.
Atkins hasn't had a choice but to build around Vlad and Bo. That was the direction before he got here. He made a 3 time playoff team while Vlad, our '40-50hr hitter' didn't come close to expectations. We made the playoffs despite his inconsistencies. Everything he was supposed to be is exactly what we've been missing.. especially in the playoffs where he is 3/22 with 1rbi. This isn't Atkins' fault. Vlad was a bust. I don't even see where there is an argument otherwise.
Tough to judge a player off 22 AB's. I do think you have a point though about Vlad not hitting when it matters. It goes along with his lax attitude. With that being said Atkins hasn't built a good team around him. They either didn't have pitching or didn't have hitting. One player does not make a team. Vlad is also young and could turn that around with another post season run. Who knows. Are the jays going to do better than Vlad? I doubt it
@@leam89 22 at bats over 3 appearances are a decent sample. That's 3 years and he didn't even show any signs of improvement. It's a shame it's all been before he was 26. So young . It is unfair to assume he'll never have it, but they've invested so much into this window that they just may not feel it's worth the risk.
@@eshep71 I don't think so but we don't have to agree it's all good. Vlad is probably gone anyways after this season or even at the deadline if they suck. The current lineup is horrifyingly pathetic so I'd bank on them sucking. Unless they go out and get two great bats.
Vladdy is still the best hitter on the team. And he has been playing injured -- just because he is not a whiner, does not mean he is not a great player. Some hitters also enjoy the advantage of short porches to boost their hr totals -- Soto, Orioles team, Judge, etc. And Judge's post season performance was weak.
@rccyberwarrior2267 I love Vlad and he is our best hitter, but as long as he's here, he's the center piece and it may be more of the same. I hate casting doubt, I love the guy, Personally, I think he came up 2 years too early.
How can you say he was 4 years older than Vlad without looking it up first?? Putting out false info without looking it up to confirm your own thoughts is so confusing to me!!! Not good, bad on you!!! Lol
I disagree about the farm being way better. It's slightly better. A couple spots better but still at the bottom half of the league. Most of the acquisitions don't look that great yet. Maybe Wagner in a small sample size.
Great job on the poem Deb 😄
