- Actor and comedian Bob Odenkirk sits down with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb to talk about his new memoir “Comedy, Comedy, Comedy, Drama.” He opens up about a heart incident he had on the set of “Better Call Saul,” saying his decision to stay around the rest of the cast that day saved his life. “If I had gone to my trailer, I wouldn’t be here right now,” he says. He also shares the epiphany he's had following the near-death experience.

The period of time seeing the news that he had "a medical incident" and then hearing nothing for a whole day, was so stressful. I didn't realize I could care so much for a stranger.
I met Bob a couple years ago - he truly has a great heart!

@@CarlitaMargarita He was going to say that he wouldn't have survived if he'd gone to his trailer. He decided to stay in the holding room and was about to get on his exercise bike when this happened. Rhea and Patrick were with him. If he'd gone to his trailer instead, he would have been alone.

@@swiftusmaximus5651 Poor you, his "incident" was caused by a plaque buildup that he already knew about and had neglected to return to the doctor about. Unfortunately for you, it has nothing to do with a vaccine.
I think what makes bcs and bb so special is They both start off as comedies and slowly turn into a drama/action. What other shows have made turns like this and succeeded
I wouldn't say either start as comedies, there's just comedic scenes throughout. It's still first and foremost a drama show

On the day of bobs incident, Aaron Paul posted a pic of bob on Instagram with a black heart as the caption and nothing else, we were all distraught that he had passed, it was a full day before we got an update! glad he was around the crew and got the help he needed and is ok now...great actor and can’t wait for final season of BCS

I also had a "heart incident" according to doctors. I was at the ER for vomiting for ten days and woke up three days later, intubated and with six broken ribs from CPR.

@@hyena269 I wasn't misinformed about 5 jabbers I know, once healthy, under 50 getting "sudden heart attacks". The ones over 80 arent here anymore. The first 2 had effects. 3rd was a charm. But keep using the knee jerk "misinformation" response.

How traumatic for these actors and close friends.
He's talked more about it in other interviews, and apparently it did have quite an effect on the people who were there. Rhea and Patrick were with him when it happened, and from what I've heard said, it was pretty damned scary, especially when they didn't get him back after the second attempt with the defibrillator. It took 3 shots, and you rarely live for that third one. Considering how close of friends they've become - they even lived together during filming - I can believe it was pretty upsetting.
His voice is so neat and talks slow but on point. He should become a Lawyer.
Here's to wishing Saul well! He needs all our thoughts and prayers.

He's said the two reasons he lived were the help he received on set, and being so in shape from Nobody. He's continued to be extremely active after shooting it. He got very lucky though. He'd known for a few years that he had a plaque buildup, and hadn't followed up with the cardiologist like he was supposed to. A piece broke free and that's what caused the "incident". It's just random timing when that happens. Btw, I think a sequel to Nobody is in the works.

Anyway, I forgot to mention, AMC has already developed a new series for Bob, and it looks like it's a go. Don't have any info on when it's supposed to go into production. Looks like he's not about to slow down, lol!
