    Nice build! Going into the 7th season with my HF 10 x 12 and still feeling the way you do. I don't quite understand all the negative comments that these greenhouses get. I put my on a treated 6 x 6 lumber foundation and also put conduit cross wise to give stability and for hanging plants. I live in coastal North Carolina just off the water and the greenhouse has survived 2 hurricanes with no damage at all. In fact someone just gave me another HF 10 x 12 last month that I am in the process of building now. It has some wear and tear but gonna be ok. Again nice build and happy greenhousing!

      I dont understand all the flak these greenhouses get either. For the price they can't be beat. We just had some 90mph vertical winds come through SE Iowa. I was biting my lip but I never even lost a panel lol. I think a lot of people that have bad experiences with these don't do the extra little things that aren't included in the instructions. Like putting it on a raised platform. Getting it square and level etc then wonder why it blows over haha. I looked at other greenhouses in this size and the cheapest I could find was over $2k. I am a big time fan of these. 7 years? That is awesome. I hope I get that much use out of mine. We currently have almost 2k starts in it and are gearing up for our first ever plant sale. This little 10x12 is changing my whole gardening paradigm. Loving it !! Happy Growing from Iowa !!

    Hi mate! You described exactly what I think about greenhouses. I've had my first greenhouse to this year, and it's already too small for me. :) But it is my little place to 'play'. Thanks for your video. Greetings from the Netherlands!

      Thanks ! I am in love with this thing. Its like a man cave for me lol. I am out here tinkering constantly. My only regret is not putting one up sooner. Cheers m8 right back at from a lettuce loving yank.

    get clear bubble wrap and put it on the window interior to maintain the heat in the winter. light can still get in for the plants.

    Awesome dude ! I think you did a great job. I always wanted a greenhouse and was thinking of the same one. But my city yard just isn't big enough. Good for you ! Cool video. Thanks. Would like to see updates in the future.

    Thank you for the video, I have been watching video reviews on this and have been wanting to get for years but you showed me some good points that others may have overlooked and one big one is the foundation. If you do not have a good foundation nothing else matters.

    Just put some peel an stick weather strip between the front doors and it will be fine . Good job . I've been thinking about getting one myself . I think I will . Seems to be worth the money .

      Thanks man !! We get these really nice pallets where I work. Can't beat free dollars lol. A little sanding and Thompson water seal really dressed them up.I have a second tier of them in now. I am so ready for spring. Out working on the NFT system today. Suns out for the first time in Iowa for what feels like forever.

      I bought 2 12ft 4x4s and 2 10s. I put the 10s inside the 12s to make the square of that makes sense.

      You will do great. Don't get overwhelmed. Just build as you go. You will be fine. If a country bumpkin like me can do it, anyone can. Wishing you the best of luck and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I don't know how I lived without a greenhouse before. Have a great weekend and get 'er done !!

    if you drill two holes in the middle support beams sippy tie panels so wind don't blow them out and 1/2 " electrical conduit to support corners 45* angle upper corners you be good to go for years of harvesting ........ grown on......cheers

    Is there anything you would suggest to do that you didn't do now that it's 3 years old? Thanks!

    • @growingforbroke1072
      @growingforbroke1072  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for stopping by :) I would put in some wooden rafters . In my area I get snow load and that center beam isnt really strong. I would also make my door the way it is now. A regular style instead of the slides. I fought with those for 2 years before finally changing them. Other then that. I have been pretty happy with my investment of this greenhouse.

    Any update or recommendations? How did it hold up with all the snow and cold this year? I live in Muscatine Iowa, (eastern Iowa) just bought the hb greenhouse a couple weeks ago and am waiting to be able to set it up.

    I just got one of these, I heard you were in Iowa and you get snow, so I was wondering how that works out for you? I'm used to noreasters in Mass...so should I reinforce with conduit? Thanks!

    • @growingforbroke1072
      @growingforbroke1072  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would do something to square it up for sure. I assume you are talking 45s in the corner with conduit. What gets in the craw of these most in the wind. Think of it as a big wind sail. Being in the NE, i would reccomend also re enforcing the ridge beam for snow load. How my roof hasnt collapsed yet i will never know lol

    Heat it with propane and you'll get the added benefit of CO2 enrichment. If you burn kerosene for heat you'll need a chimney because it doesn't burn clean enough, especially if you're growing something edible.

    I’ve had my Harbor Freight for two years. We screwed self taper screws at all the windows that has held the panels in. Our winds lost a few panels off my 6x8 so now I got smart with the 10x12. I am just now replacing the doors with metal doors. Our winds keep blowing off the sliders. And I didn’t like the Fact the sliding doors don’t close all the way and air gets in there. That is a good tip for the vents on top I’m going to try that.
