- I am replacing more panels on my harbor freight greenhouse. I plan on building a glass greenhouse next year so I am on ly replacing the ones that are necessary.

I used silicone caulking around all sides of my panels to help with wind - so far it has worked!!

Yes that’s what I did, never lost a panel during hard winds.
A hailstorm last July 2017 completely destroyed all the top panels on my two Harbor Freight greenhouses. Just this year, February 2018, Gemplers had a sale so I ordered 4 x 12 sheets to cut to fit. Two sheets plus a Pallet Tool was $330+. The original panels were 4 mm, but the ones I replaced them with were 8 mm. You have to seal the open ends with Foil Duct Tape to make them last longer. I am also going to save bubble wrap to create a "blanket" for the winter and to hopefully add if we know a bad storm is coming.

Thanks for the video! I think our Harbor Freight greenhouse has performed well. It is 10 years old and the side panels are great. As expected, sunlight, rain, winds, etc, will degrade the roof. I am fine replacing the roof panels, and will go to Lowe’s or Home Depot to replace the polycarbonate panels. For $600, she has worked great, and is a heck of a lot less expensive than the other greenhouses I looked at. They were 5 - 20K! Yikes!

It's amazing you can buy replacement panels from Harbor Freight. I only know this because I bought a second hand 10X12 greenhouse (take it down yourself), but in the end four panels missing. It was a good decision. Cost effective to replace them all....
HVAC 3M aluminum tape on both ends of the panel will help on keeping out water and discoloration of the panels thus lasting longer.
I did that on ALL the panels, but it didn’t help when we got a hail storm and all the roof panels got some kind of damage - now they all leak water into them and the sealed ends (with this method) just keep the water in t he tubes and it gets moldy.
Anyone put 16mm triple polycarbonate panels on harbor freight greenhouse? If so where did you get the panels and how thick were they? How thick of panels can you put into harbor freight greenhouse? How thick were those panels you bought?
Great video thanks for sharing. I’m a new greenhouse harbor freight purchaser 10x12 waiting for ladder to build the roof. Nice to see the last ten years great bang for the initial buck price of the GH. How did the replacement panel work out and what is the specific name of the material you purchased? New subscriber will learn about your glass GH later.
The replacement panels I got at home depot.They aren't cheap but work great. They are called "Sunlite roof panel"
There must be a uv resistant coating that can be applied to the new hf panels.
Late to the party, but I've seen people tape 6mil greenhouse film to the panels for UV protection.
If you're making them for selling plants in replace of pots, couldn't you use a less expensive fabric if you're not interested in long-term use?

I got mine at home depot. Just double poly panels. Have to cut them to size but they are good quality. Might be able to find the ones that actually fit the HF greenhouse but I haven't looked

Bent forward to the screen "ohh yeah?" and perked my ears when you said dig around corners. Doh... I looked into homebuilding a greenhouse too and then quickly... decided for plastic polytunnels instead. Yikes. Those panels are expensive. The good ones do last a long time though.

I built it in 2006 so I can't remember but I'm past the 10 years anyways.

those panels should have a coating on one side make sure you look to see witch side gos on the out side of the greenhouse !!! ~!~
