The 1st thing we did with our greenhouse, after it was fully assembled was to silicone cluck each panel. Never lost a panel. However, the panels start to break down in about 3 years. Panels can be replaced.
We ended up screwing and siliconing in our panels. Had a could blow out with the hurricane that passed through. I guess we shall see how long they last.
I have something very similar, my panels are held in with sturdier looking clips, but what I have done, Is use tent pegs on the inside of the greenhouse, pinning the base of the greenhouse to the floor. I also have sandbags on each of the outer Corners. We have had some strong winds and rain (Ireland) and at this moment in time, my greenhouse is doing well. I have had it for just over 12 months. I was going to use the silicon, as you did, to stop my panels 'shaking' in the wind as they are not as snugly fit as yours, however, I am now wondering if that slightly less snug fit, reduces the 'force/pressure' of the winds on to the panels that cause them to pop out? BTW, I bought mine from Argos, more expensive but that bit sturdier.
OTHERS, recommend caulking the panels in place. Well, you dont have to caulk the ENTIRE panels perimeter, just spots betwix your spring clips will do. !
Built something like this, ended up using water proof metal duct tape on the ends to seal them, thin aluminum bar strips bolted to the frame to keep the panels in place, and rope tie downs over the top to keep the whole thins from blowing away or getting damaged. In the end it may be about the same price as better kits, not saying you will not have to the same thing with better kits.
I put this greenhouse from harbor freight together several years ago. However mine was 8 x 10. It didnt last a week. Strong winds came 2 days after I completed it and the aluminum structure got bend and broken and the panels were everywhere. I never even had the chance to use it. Very disappointing.
I'm planning to get one but place it against the house or fence. That would add support. My vinyl green house is kitty corner to the house and fence so it protects from wind on 2 sides.
I have one that has been up for three years without any problems. I have strengthen the greenhouse in several ways and it holds very well in high winds.
Bonjour!
In the world of tools Harbor Freight tools are the bottom of the ladder.. Cheap is what you pay for cheap is what you get. I would expect the same for the greenhouse. You'd probably be better off getting one somewhere else.
Do you think every gardener need a green house?

That's what we did too!! I've had it for a year. So far still no blown out panels!
curious if a UV coat would protect them better

Thanks for your honesty. I am putting up mine tomorrow here in Texas and hoping for the best. Biting my finger nails.
I think you’ll be just fine! If you have any major winds just watch the vent windows!

That’s honestly my concern. You never know what you’ll get some times!
I would probably put some fender bolts under those screws you have put in the sheets.
Not sure how you'll put a bolt under a screw, but good luck
🤣😂 I think he meant to say fender washers.

Oh that’s very disappointing! Hope you found something after that, that worked better for you.

Very useful
Analysis. I want give a greenhouse to a beginning gardener. This would not be it!

Yes sir! Reinforcing this little gem really makes her shine.
3 mm double sided tape use to hold car trim on outside
This is a great idea!

This is true will probably be the case when we upgrade!
