I remember a Robin coming down a steep hill near Toddington. It was being towed by a Rolls Royce of all things. The Robin went out of control, flipped numerous times around the tow rope and disintegrated. The driver was killed.

The car doesn’t actually flip like this they modified the car to make it look ridiculous. Look up actual clips of this car it’s actually very steady. They front loaded the car and modified it for entertainment purposes

in case anyone is wondering all of this is staged, it's very hard to roll one of these they used heavily modified ones for the show
Indeed. They put weights in the car, welded the differential & allegedly put on uneven sized wheels.
Of course the roll cage would have also raised the car's centre of gravity.
If the car had been dangerously unstable it would have never been cleared to go on the public road.
The other car they enjoyed picking on was the Morris Marina of course. The more they upset the Marina's Owner Club, the more cars they destroyed on camera.

That wasn't a Robin. It was a Rialto.

It's a Reliant Robin mk2. A rialto is older and has different panels

Then came the robin mk1
Then came the rialto which is from 1987
Then came the robin mk2 which is this one and is from 1991
Then came the reliant mk3 in 1999 produced till 2001.

Edit: my brother owns a rialto it literally says it on the bonnet and the back. Its says: Rialto SE. It has a dark grill with deep headlights
@@John-ci2sd Rialtos and mk2s are the same cars with minor differences in body panels. One is a a turd and the other a slightly different turd. Only seasoned shitpickers can make out the differences.
