Hi Anthony! Your tomatoes are looking beautiful and so healthy. Mine are just starting to get tiny baby tomatoes now. That reminds me I need to get out there and prune them! ☺️
I've got some cherry tomatoes coming through!! I'm happy with that!! Only have the one plant though!! If I want punnets of cherry tomatoes I'm going to have too plant a few more plants!! Something to focus on next year!! Cheers!!
Hi Anthony, your tomatoes are looking great. Like you I always leave several leaders on my tomatoes I find that gives me a bigger harvest, unfortunately at the moment I only have some self-seeding cherry toms as fruit fly is already so prevalent. Tomatoes here in Queensland have to be bagged in spring and summer and sometimes even autumn. Jacqui
Yeah I’m dreading fruit flies. Hoping to get most of the harvest off before December when they show up. There is a local supplier of fruit fly netting I have found that I might use for my capsciums but the tomatoes are going to have to fend for themselves
Apart from the wettable sulphur, what was the other ? Chloride that you use on your tomatoes? Really enjoying the practical tips, thank you for inviting us into your patch. I am learning a huge amount.
Tomatoes are looking great. Have you tried training them to a single stem? That's what I do, they get really tall like 2 meters plus. I wonder if allowing them to have multiple stems they don't grow as tall but are just as productive.
Commercial growers do grow to a single stem as they are growing for size and quality. For backyard growers quantity also matters I find so I will leave additional stems
hi Anthony great video update the rain here is slowing growth down would you add something to the soil to keep toms strong during constant rain as my tom patch is small but the flowers are dropping off thats gardening i guess but any advice would be appreciated thanks mate
Where you located? Is it still cold there? I would add a small handful of potash to the base of the plant with a little dynamic lifter pellets. The biggest concern with a lot of rain is disease keep an eye out for it and potentially spray with a little wettable sulfue
Hi Andrew great videos really enjoying a quick question about my tomato vine is a lot skinner and taller? Is it too much power feed or not enough 👍thanks
My growing indertermanate variety tomatoes can I plant two on one stack and how close between each plants that l can grow as I have many seedlings growing
Amazing! They have really taken off and are looking fab! Do you deal with birds trying to get at your tomatoes? At our old house we gave up on them completely because of a couple of greedy king parrot family's. Couldn't get them to leave the tomatoes alone. At our new house it's crows. Is there an option besides netting all the rows!? I'm going crazy with these critters
Birds are only a problem for me when the fruit starts to colour so I pick them as soon as they blush. Yeah unfortunately physical barriers are the only way
@sydneybackyardveggies9612 these birds try them green, drop them in disgust, and then try another just in case 😆 looks like I'll be investing in some netting. Thank you 🙏
Seems counter-intuitive that giving them a good prune would help, is it more about reducing potential stress and disease risks from inadequate airflow ?
It’s to do with stoping disease spread I find and making the tomatoes easier to stake. The tomatoes just get too big and you can’t control them without a little pruning especially on how I plant my tomatoes fairly close together
@@sydneybackyardveggies9612 After watching again, brought bake memories of Mr Miyagi and his Bonsai plants - "Ah. Only root karate come from Miyagi. Just like bonsai choose own way grow because root strong you choose own way do karate same reason." 😆
Your garden is how every backyard should look! Beautiful, healthy, happy veg growing instead of a silly, boring, lawn that gives nothing back 💚💚💚
Thanks for watching and appreciate the kind words

Yeah get a few more in the ground you have plenty of space
Fantastic tomatoes Anthony - they all look so wonderful 👍. I found my first pea-sized San Marzano today 😂
Excellent! You just started your tomato patch so this is great. Still really cold down south
I’m also in Sydney and my tomatoes are like ¼ of that size. I have a few very very very small tomatoes growing though. Gonna give you a follow
Thank you! Yeah I planted out my tomatoes mid august so got a head start
@ I planted mine around then too but I kept moving the round and I think it stunted their growth

Copper oxichloride I spray it to control the fungal diseases. I’ll post a link to the video that goes through what I spray with

Are your plantings in full sun? My dads tomatoes grow the same way but his get half day sun
My growing indertermanate variety tomatoes can I plant two on one stack and how close between each plants that l can grow as I have many seedlings growing
My tomatoes are planted 60cm apart in rows 80cm apart. They need the space to grow and be staked ideally
Amazing! They have really taken off and are looking fab!
