I always have a hard time trellising my cherry tomatoes. I often let them run wild. Your trellis looks great, I would love to see how it looks as your plants progress. 😊
Your veg garden is roaring along. Try Australian yellow leaf lettuce. I find it's a reliable performer and is slow to bolt. It does not get bitter when it bolts. I grow it year round in Melbourne. I am following your advice..start another round of seedlings as soon as you plant out. It's a really easy way to succession plant.
Thanks. I just had a look at the tomatoes going to need to add some more beams to the cages the tomatoes are starting to out grow what I installed last week
Hi Anthony, looks like your tomatoes are doing well. Those beans look fantastic. I wish I had of planted an early crop, but I held off as I going away next month to Europe for 3 weeks. Going to plant some this week as they should be ready for when I come back. Keep up the good work, your video are excellent. Cheers 👍👍😃😃
Hi Anthony, I grow lettuce all year round. In winter I grow in the backyard in full 7 hour sun and they do well. In summer I grow them in planters around the side of the house in 2 hour sun (11am to 1pm). A bit slower in summer but they don't bolt and don't go bitter. In fact I grow all my greens around the side of the house in summer. Also I grow perpetual spinach in summer, fist time last year and it lasted all summer and all winter around the side of the house, up until mid spring when they bolted. I have just put new seedlings in and so far are doing really well again. (Perpetual spinach is also known as spinach beet) I should harvest my first zucchini next week so am looking forward to a good season. For some reason though am having a lot of trouble with spring onion and chives. Don't know why they are not germinating. Love your tomatoes. Mine are just starting their growth spurt and flowers. My winter lettuce is forming heads so will not last much longer. I take a couple of leaves per day for my salads rather than waiting for the plant to form the head. My greatest winter success this year was kale, which after picking many leaves now looks like a tree. Look forward to seeing your (and mine) spring progress. I am hoping to get sultana grapes this year and a new type of blueberry.
Mate it looks like I planted my zucchini really late need to catch up! Thanks for the tips on your lettuce technique. I will look at planting more in my patch soon
Yeah the mango tree looks promising this year plenty of small fruit. Yeah give epsom salt a go checked on the cucumbers again this morning and they have recovered really well
Planted my Zucchini and squash back in mid September (Penrith), had a late frost but they bounced back and will be harvesting first few squash this week, yum. Love the work and gives me inspiration for growing a small vege patch in western sydney 🤓
Glad you got an early crop. I planted tomatoes in mid August the early heat really set them up but it did get cold again. No frost in my area here in St George area
I love looking at your garden Anthony, I’m in the G’ong , and just gardening for myself, I’ve put in enough spuds and onions for me , got a couple of tomatoes, for fresh eating, passion fruit are going well. All the best Jules
Your garden is looking fabulous Anthony I've only just planted beans and onions here southern Victoria as we can still get the odd frost. Love the channel.
I use mulches but not in the traditional way. I agitate the soil and this acts as a mulching layer that stops the weeds I also plant close spacings and use manures as mulch where needed. In my context using mulches like sugar cane I feel can be too thick and I find gets in the way of me fertilising and watering my plants and I find it hides pests. It’s always a learning journey so I might go and give it a go again
Oof thatll be a lot of zuchini 😆 I planted two plants so one wouldn't be lonely. One gives more than we can handle. Hopefully my chooks still like zuchini 😂
Ooops!! Planted my cherry tomatoes in October!! It's got flowers on it already!! And I think its grown since I planted it a couple of weeks ago!! Sooo I will see how I go!! Enjoy that egg too btw!! LOL!! Cheers!!
Yes I’m going to give that a try this season. Reduces the amount of space they take up and helps with powdery mildew as there’s better air circulation.
Yeah I have seen it too I have been thinking about doing it every year but I’m not sure if my supports are strong enough might go and get some steel pickets for the structure
I have large mesh that I lay over the bed but you can use anything to stop the cats anything like sticks or twigs on the beds the cats don’t like feeling it under their feet

So informative as usual. Save those cucumbers Anthony 😂
Thanks mate I think they will be ok been away for work so I’m hoping they will be good when I check on them tomorrow 👍
Nice idea for supporting tomatoes using materials any gardener would have, will try it. Didn’t know that about epsom salt, thanks for the tip 👍
Yeah give them both a go it does save your seedlings
You have a mango tree....yay! Epsom salt is my go-to for sickly plants and works great. I love your tomato trellis.
Yeah the mango tree looks promising this year plenty of small fruit. Yeah give epsom salt a go checked on the cucumbers again this morning and they have recovered really well
Your garden going great mate
Thanks mate 👍

Thanks for watching. I want to plant some onion but I was thinking planting in March. Can you get a crop if planted now?
Another great vid Anthony. Quick question why don’t you use mulch ? Cheers
I use mulches but not in the traditional way. I agitate the soil and this acts as a mulching layer that stops the weeds I also plant close spacings and use manures as mulch where needed. We use a lot of zucchini in our meals. Mum will stuff 20 at a time so we need a lot for a meal! 🤣
Ooops!! Planted my cherry tomatoes in October!! It's got flowers on it already!! And I think its grown since I planted it a couple of weeks ago!! Sooo I will see how I go!! Enjoy that egg too btw!! LOL!! Cheers!!
Hahaha yeah those chickens know when to carry on. They just can’t keep quiet!
i saw you can grow zucchini more neat and compact up a support post/stake
Yes I’m going to give that a try this season. Reduces the amount of space they take up and helps with powdery mildew as there’s better air circulation.
Yeah I have seen it too I have been thinking about doing it every year but I’m not sure if my supports are strong enough might go and get some steel pickets for the structure

What are you doing to cat-proof your garden? My cat is a menace.
I have large mesh that I lay over the bed but you can use anything to stop the cats anything like sticks or twigs on the beds the cats don’t like feeling it under their feet
