    I’ve got the 24v this year and very pleased with results and I don’t cut 100 holes at anytime so the 24v works for me . I had a jiffy 30 10in and it’s a beast cuts great but it’s very heavy.

      Good to hear! It turned out to be a great product

    I got the 24 last year and drilled 27 holes in 20” of Black ice and it was still going strong. Love it !

    When i go fishing, i have more fun catching fish than drilling holes. If the time comes when i need to drill 100 holes for just me i am moving south with my boat and giving up ice fishing. When i ice fish with a group we usually have 2-3 augers with us and most lakes have a 2 trap limit.
    I just bought the 24v and look forward to using it. I hemmed and hawed between the 24 and 40 but the pros of the 24 won. A 2nd battery is also cheaper and solves the energy crisis that most will deliberate on. The only other thing would be the lack of lights and narrower handles.

      Good point to add. I didn't even realize until you said this that the 24v doesn't have those bottom lights. I guess to me it never was an advantage or even useful since when I go out at night I have a headlamp on anyway on the ice.

    I bought an eskimo E40 steel at a black Friday sale, haven't tried it but it's less than 18 lbs and it came with a free $200 battery

    I have the 24v, my Buddy has the 40v, my experience is, on 10" of ice the 24v will drill around 25 to 30 holes, comes with 1 battery, it's light and cuts good, great for fishing the southern range of ice. The 40 comes with an extra battery which is great, it will drill 50 holes on 12". I believe the 40 comes with 2 batteries, if I lived any farther north I would've bought the 40, the 24 works great for my area.

      Yes correct, does depend on the region. My 40v had 2 batteries only because I got the special offered through Cabelas which allowed me to get the 40v and 2 batteries half off because I worked there. Not sure if they are offering 2 batteries with the 40v as a special through certain retailers.

    Nobody ever mentions how the 24v is considerably noisier. Especially if run inside a shack. Obviously may not be an important issue for most people, but I do like the mellower sound of the 40v. Having the option to use a 10 inch bit on it is another big difference. But the weight and size of the 24v is certainly a big selling point. I could almost justify owning both for different times of the year and situations, but depends on fishing style and location.

    I got a dewalt drill, clam plate, and the strikemaster 8 inch lite flight. Would have been nice to know I needed a separate adaptor tho! I was about to cobble somethin together until I hopped on a forum.

    I have the 24v. It’s in a class of it’s own. Super light and gets the job done. :)

      Yes it really is! They knocked it out of the park with this one. You get a ridiculously lightweight auger that can drill more than enough holes for a day of fishing. If you need more holes then the extra battery option is there as well. I have 2 with my 40V and never had to use it.

    Picked up a 24 volt extention and extra battery for 830 canadian at lake of the woods sports in winnipeg 300 off 40 volt and 200 off 24 volt I got all kitted out for the same price as the 40 volt alone now to head out to big windy

    • @humibugs
      @humibugs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Right it seems to be the most cost effective electric auger still

  • @infie

    I just got the 24v. Honestly, I can't even imagine drilling even 30 holes on one ice fishing outing. That just wouldn't happen. Where I'm from you can have 5 traps though. Am I really gonna pick up those 5 traps and move them SIX times though? Haha. What I usually do is just have some Jaw Jackers going and then jig a hole. Should be good. Can't wait to move on from the hand-auger. Sweeeeeet Jesus.

    • @humibugs
      @humibugs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@infie yep exactly, now if I had a machine I probably would stick with the 40v but still even with a machine the 24v is sufficient

      some people fish with friends and/or family. Could have 20 holes just having 4 people fish togerher. Move once or relocate holes, that's 40 holes. Spend the night and fish over 2 days...that's 80 holes. Live in a cold climate? Double the ice thickness. the equivalent of 160 holes. So there is definitely a case for the more powerful auger and battery (or extra batteries).

    neither ion alpha plus after having both 24 and 40v stikemaster the ion is lighter then both and cuts way way faster

    Just bought the 40V, but had to settle for 10” version. Got it 20% off so I can’t complain too much. My question is, could I easily change the size of the auger itself to 8” without having issues with it since the power head is designed for 10”. Thanks in advance!

    • @humibugs
      @humibugs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can as the power head can take any size auger flight so you'll have no problem switching them out Steve!

    • @zone4garlicfarm
      @zone4garlicfarm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would you want to change from a 10" hole to 8" ?

    • @steveelias6824
      @steveelias6824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zone4garlicfarm At 10”, the hole is almost too big to hold either tip ups I use. ( Ipro and frabil). Both almost too small for 10” hole. Plus with more sq inches of holes to cut. Overall amount of holes that could be cut with 8” increases. Especially when you are drilling thru 21” of ice late in the season.
