When Goku was bon Raditz was already 13 or 14 years old. When Goku met Raditz for the first time Goku was 22 and Raditz was 35 to 36 years old. If going off level of power increase lets talk reality. From the time Goku defeated Raditz to when Goku defeated Buu that was around 13 to 14 years later. By the time Goku was the age of his older brother Goku defeated Buu. Raditz does not have potential and he was absolutely weak. Hell when Goku got sent into the past during Dragon Ball it stated that those Saiyan fighters were average fighting levels and they were 1500 and 1700 and that was a normal weak Saiyan fighter power level according to Kami. So yes Raditz was in fact a weak fighter. Also the Sayba Men were in fact 1500 power level and Napa straight up admitted that Raditz was a weak Saiyan and the only reason he was allowed to live was because he was among the last Saiyans to be alive and so to keep his race alive he stomached having to have him still alive.
Grew up on a planet with a higher gravity than earth 20x if I remember right. Did a lot more fighting as well compared to Goku I would imagine as like other of their kind the were sent to take over planets and taking over a single inhabited planet is probably more fighting than Goku did his entire life.

He was doing more intense battles with Sayian way strong than himself. This let him grow a lot in his power. Goku wasn’t that far behind him with the battles he fought on earth. I know he was multiple hundreds behind but Goku didn’t have Vegeta and Nappa around to constantly get into battles with whole civilizations. I agree Raditz had great potential but I think Goku would have far surpassed him if he was in the same position. Maybe they have the same potential at most in my opinion. Either way this stuff is fun to talk about.
Also, Radditz was used to fighting at his maximum instead of hiding his power until it gets too rough. With the same kind of training that Vegeta endured, Radditz would be amazing.
What would make you think that ? From the information given in both the manga and the anime we can assume raditz was used to using his oozaru form (he places great emphasis on the tail and the sayian transformation, even going so far as to tell Goku his "true" power is gone without his tail.
@@wavelordcelliano1746 I meant that Radditz was used to being at his maximum normal form to the point he didn't have to stop and gather more power from anything else. The Oozaru form was his crutch against other fighters that were stronger by default. The 1500 was the best without needing to transform and the tail did allow for better power like having additional adrenal glands that still had to be activated.

The other sayians call him weak (this is relative as raditz is MID CLASS) and we can see that raditz will AVOID a fight if he seems it unworthy of his time (his initial skirmish with piccolo he could've easily killed him and choose not to, even after piccolo had attacked him) we can only infer than raditz was reliant on his oozaru form as he makes SEVERAL mentions to this form when he first meets Goku. He is even very upset that Goku has lost his tail. We can infer that raditz hasn't been in many life or death battles which would cause him to gain a zenkai boost due to several things. Raditz was assigned to a MID CLASS group that included nappa. With other strong fighters I doubt raditz or the sayians would run into much trouble. That being said raditz was already far above your average sayians (low class ranging from 300-700 , mid class 1k-rougly 7k (being nappa as the strongest mid class), and elites being higher (with vegeta being known as a super elite)

@@wavelordcelliano1746 Did you forget how much stronger Goku was when he had his tail. The Wiki says there are important organs in the tail that grant more power. Radditz may have been weak, but he didn't need to gather energy all the time. Goku didn't even appear to be able to fly without Nimbus and yet Radditz flew from his ship all the way to Kame Island and didn't break a sweat. Radditz had plenty of potential as a whole, but Vegeta and Nappa didn't want competition and used fear to keep their ally weak. Radditz was able to handle Goku and Piccolo after seeing some of their power, creating deadly hubris.
Really wish they would have done a little more with Raditz maybe Goku visiting him in the after life or something just to hash stuff out or maybe even bring him back for a little bit
It’s about perspective, Radiz was 1500 a year before Nappa and Vegeta showed up, if he trained like Goku did, he would have easily washed Nappa and probably be same if not stronger than Vegeta.
The thing is that Goku trained with a huge master with ancient techniques with the discipline of another big masters, while saiyan training is very basic if any at all

Hmm, so technically the sayans losing to Freeza was King Vegeta fault because he would intentionally rid of anyone who has potential to become more powerful then him. So he essentially held back his own race out of fear of losing his power in the hierarchy.
I can agree... The leader doesn't always need to be the strongest, just the most strategic. The best strategy here would have been to pretend to go along the way they have been, but secretly training all the saiyans to become stronger while hiding their power level from everyone. Then when you have them all powered to the same level as Freeza... hit him hard and relentlessly with no remorse or holding back. Thousands of saiyans at Freeza power level... game over.

Gods are basically begging to teach Goku, while Saiyans are lucky they aren't sent to HFIL.
Goku has risen far far above any Sayain that has ever existed. I'd love to see them return too but they'd need to train so so much to even be a blip on the radar for Goku and Vegeta now. Blatant disinformation, he was ~5 years old. Saiyans didn’t train, and king Kai said that training with him would equate to thousands of years of training on earth, not because of the gravity (would make no sense at all) but because it is a higher state of reality.

He was older, also he didn't live on earth, the gravity is more intense on Vegeta, also likely the planets the Saiyans conquered. That is literally the reason. 10X gravity + years of existing in it.
The fact that Raditz was about 3x more powerful than Goku who was the protagonist without even getting zenkai boosts lets you know he was one of the most powerful amongst low class saiyans. His latent battle power was 3x greater than Goku. On the other hand he's only considered weak being next to elite Nappa and super elite Vegeta.
Raditz is an interesting character that I wish got more love. Funnily enough, I started getting into Dragon Ball through the Budokai series, with the Fateful Brothers What-If scenario in Tenkaichi 2 being my favorite, and he was so fun to play as. I definitely think he deserves some kind of "redemption arc," maybe not like becoming "good" so to say, but something to show that he's so much more than just a stepping stone.
Saiyan "cuture" was their own enemy. They just fight all the time as a way to keep their strengh. It was that way until vegeta met goku and found out he kept pushing the limits in insane ways with focused training and techniques
I think the potential theory is flawed because look at Vegeta he had the best potential over looking Broly. And yet Goku over shadows him, not to mention Gohan who is pretty inconsistent in terms of potential. Technically Goten should hold the title as biggest potential. Going Super Sayian at age 6 is insane!!!!
Maybe Raditz always used the Great Ape transformation and thats why he never considered himself "weak." HE DID explain it to Goku when he got to Earth and definitely would have used it had there been a moon or he was cleared to use the "Power Ball."
Raditz would have destroyed the earth as he was already a soldier doing that before planet vegeta was destroyed. Only if he lost his memory and was found by grandpa gohan would it be okay. Still then, there's no knowing for sure if he'd be as pure at heart as goku.
Actually if he was told that he was being sent to protect them from freezer and its forces and to survive and not conquer he would pretty much do the same thing that Goku did but without the head injury and technically hippie 50 times stronger than Goku when he first met Goku which means that is power level would be basically 20,800 battle power exactly 50 times higher than Goku actually making him the strongest Saiyan at that point because there are no zenkai he would receive because no one would have been strong enough to cause him that instead of getting as much as Goku he would have gotten four times less and Goku basically got 208 time Stronger by the time Raditz showed up which means Radix would have only increased his power to 52 times higher but that would have been more than enough thank you power level was between 400 and 900 as a child just imagine if Nappa and Vegeta increase the power by 52 because the same thing would have happened as long as they did the same training as Goku did and did not destroy the Earth or conqueror that is. Supposedly Napa's power level is three different ones actually when he fought the Z Fighters 4,000 6,000 8,000 now most likely 8000 was his full power so going with that has power level would have been 416,000 close enough to frieza's power level the if you use a full power Kamehameha which is 5 times stronger than your current power level when charging it if is fully charged he could have defeated first form Frieza and did the same thing to third form for if he turned into a great ape. Now in the original father of Goku movie will you find out Vegeta's power level as a kid is 14,000 time that by 52 and that would be 728,000 where is gallic gun or Kamehameha he could easily kill Frieza first form and if he transformed into a great ape he could kill him all the way up to the final form Frieza because if he goes up to 50% full power Vegito still dead. Unless they did almost a Year's worth of training before facing Frieza after the Raditz showed up after that yeah they might actually be able to kill him even in his full power.
I think it would be cool if at some point Raditz got brought back to life by a wish accidentally and he just stayed on the sidelines because he didn't want to work for Vegeta and maybe he fell in love and started a family in that time.
Part of the Old Saiyans problem was that they never sparred with each other. They only fought life and death battles on other planets. Raditz never had a scenario like Vegeta did on Earth were he barely survives and gets a zenkai boost. Nappa never got the chance for a zenkai as Vegeta killed him despite easily being able to call Nappa's pod, put him in it, and send it to Mars or Jupiter nearby to wait for Vegeta to finish the fight. Nappa being paralyzed had little impact other than in the now. The more advanced healing chambers could've probably repaired his spine. Bardock is a good example of getting Zenkais. During his movie they laugh at him in the bar "LOOK! Bardock got beat up again". Yes he did, and that is exactly why he could destroy any of you in a fight or take on hundreds of Friezas "Elite Soldiers".
Probably because if Saiyan's fought eachother it would have to be to the death. N also once they were under friezas rule they placed certain laws on Saiyan's to prevent them from doing so. Which would make sense.

Honestly think raditz in the other world he obtained ssj and maybe another form higher than that but with more of his sayian side. I believe raditz may be returning because bardock wish was for his sons to thrive so ik he training waiting to be wished back by goku on a silly strength test wish or tournament
It makes sense actually. Took Goku and piccolo together to beat him, and gohan too when raged. So he was at least twice as strong as Goku then. If he had been revived or trained another 20-30 years like Goku and Vegeta got who knows how far he could have gone. Probably not as strong as either but who knows.
In my opinion they made a mistake jumping the powerlevels up to fast. I miss scouters and powerlevels.. it was one of the fun parts of DBZ. Now its just 'CAN YOU SENSE THAT ENERGY?!' followed by fans arguing over who is the strongest.. i hate it.
I wished Raditz was also used more like vegeta. He could habe been a long term rival. That would comeback mutiple times even push Goku to the limit multiple times even help Goku with Freeza. So much missed potential.

Man I really wish they did more with Raditz. Yes he did what he was supposed to from a story perspective, but out of the Saiyans only Nappa really needed to die simply to show off Vegeta's ruthlessness. Ya know though I never understood why Raditz never trained against the Saibamen. Considering they are supposed to be around the same power level you'd think they'd make perfect training partners for him specifically. Unless that is how he got stronger and plateaued.
Before watching... he is older... been to different planets with stronger gravity... home planet Vegeta where he grew up is 10x Earths gravity... also he has been in a lot more battles than Goku. I am honestly surprised he wasn't at least 10X stronger than Goku
Idk what the long term plan is for Dragon Ball now but it would not shock me if somehow Raditz is brought back considering how the franchise has consistently brought back villains. Freeza, Cell, Majin Buu, Android 17, Captain Ginyu, Garlic Jr. I could easily see a arch where Raditz has been wished back from Hell by someone who hates Goku for the purpose of killing him and this whole time he’s been dominating Hell and his power level on earth is now compatible to his brothers.
I really always wished they'd bring back some of the Saiyans, Raditz is one I'd like to see, be it as a persistent villain or simply another new Saiyan on the team
In my mind its just another of Toriyamas weird retcons that dont make sense. Why would the "middle class" be only 10 of the strongest warriors of all time, and then everyone else is lumped into low class? I can understand "elite class" being only the royal family to make Vegeta(s) feel more important, but there should be a "high class" for people like Nappa and apparently Raditz and then a "mid class" for people like Bardok and a "low class" for people like the rest of Bardoks team. Which is likely how it originally was, with Raditz being an example of a good but not great Saiyan, average to above average but nothing special, and thats why Nappa called him a weakling. Goku was a low class not because he was just one of the many, but because he was particularly weak and thats why his progression is so amazing and so offensive to Vegeta.
Gokus obsession with training set him apart from everyone in the verse. Vegeta couldnt keep up because he started too late he wasnt training with martial arts masters and gods like Goku was early on in his life

The fact that Raditz was about 3x more powerful than Goku who was the protagonist without even getting zenkai boosts lets you know he was one of the most powerful amongst low class saiyans. His latent battle power was 3x greater than Goku.
On the other hand he's only considered weak being next to elite Nappa and super elite Vegeta.
Raditz is an interesting character that I wish got more love. Funnily enough, I started getting into Dragon Ball through the Budokai series, with the Fateful Brothers What-If scenario in Tenkaichi 2 being my favorite, and he was so fun to play as. I definitely think he deserves some kind of "redemption arc," maybe not like becoming "good" so to say, but something to show that he's so much more than just a stepping stone.
Saiyan "cuture" was their own enemy. They just fight all the time as a way to keep their strengh. It was that way until vegeta met goku and found out he kept pushing the limits in insane ways with focused training and techniques

I think the potential theory is flawed because look at Vegeta he had the best potential over looking Broly. And yet Goku over shadows him, not to mention Gohan who is pretty inconsistent in terms of potential. Technically Goten should hold the title as biggest potential. Going Super Sayian at age 6 is insane!!!!

Maybe Raditz always used the Great Ape transformation and thats why he never considered himself "weak." HE DID explain it to Goku when he got to Earth and definitely would have used it had there been a moon or he was cleared to use the "Power Ball."

Raditz would have destroyed the earth as he was already a soldier doing that before planet vegeta was destroyed. Only if he lost his memory and was found by grandpa gohan would it be okay. Still then, there's no knowing for sure if he'd be as pure at heart as goku.
Actually if he was told that he was being sent to protect them from freezer and its forces and to survive and not conquer he would pretty much do the same thing that Goku did but without the head injury and technically hippie 50 times stronger than Goku when he first met Goku which means that is power level would be basically 20,800 battle power exactly 50 times higher than Goku actually making him the strongest Saiyan at that point because there are no zenkai he would receive because no one would have been strong enough to cause him that instead of getting as much as Goku he would have gotten four times less and Goku basically got 208 time Stronger by the time Raditz showed up which means Radix would have only increased his power to 52 times higher but that would have been more than enough thank you power level was between 400 and 900 as a child just imagine if Nappa and Vegeta increase the power by 52 because the same thing would have happened as long as they did the same training as Goku did and did not destroy the Earth or conqueror that is.
Supposedly Napa's power level is three different ones actually when he fought the Z Fighters 4,000 6,000 8,000 now most likely 8000 was his full power so going with that has power level would have been 416,000 close enough to frieza's power level the if you use a full power Kamehameha which is 5 times stronger than your current power level when charging it if is fully charged he could have defeated first form Frieza and did the same thing to third form for if he turned into a great ape.
Now in the original father of Goku movie will you find out Vegeta's power level as a kid is 14,000 time that by 52 and that would be 728,000 where is gallic gun or Kamehameha he could easily kill Frieza first form and if he transformed into a great ape he could kill him all the way up to the final form Frieza because if he goes up to 50% full power Vegito still dead.
Unless they did almost a Year's worth of training before facing Frieza after the Raditz showed up after that yeah they might actually be able to kill him even in his full power.

Part of the Old Saiyans problem was that they never sparred with each other. They only fought life and death battles on other planets. Raditz never had a scenario like Vegeta did on Earth were he barely survives and gets a zenkai boost.
Nappa never got the chance for a zenkai as Vegeta killed him despite easily being able to call Nappa's pod, put him in it, and send it to Mars or Jupiter nearby to wait for Vegeta to finish the fight. Nappa being paralyzed had little impact other than in the now. The more advanced healing chambers could've probably repaired his spine.
Bardock is a good example of getting Zenkais. During his movie they laugh at him in the bar "LOOK! Bardock got beat up again". Yes he did, and that is exactly why he could destroy any of you in a fight or take on hundreds of Friezas "Elite Soldiers".
Probably because if Saiyan's fought eachother it would have to be to the death. N also once they were under friezas rule they placed certain laws on Saiyan's to prevent them from doing so. Which would make sense.

It makes sense actually. Took Goku and piccolo together to beat him, and gohan too when raged. So he was at least twice as strong as Goku then. If he had been revived or trained another 20-30 years like Goku and Vegeta got who knows how far he could have gone. Probably not as strong as either but who knows.

In my opinion they made a mistake jumping the powerlevels up to fast. I miss scouters and powerlevels.. it was one of the fun parts of DBZ. Now its just 'CAN YOU SENSE THAT ENERGY?!' followed by fans arguing over who is the strongest.. i hate it.

Man I really wish they did more with Raditz. Yes he did what he was supposed to from a story perspective, but out of the Saiyans only Nappa really needed to die simply to show off Vegeta's ruthlessness.

In my mind its just another of Toriyamas weird retcons that dont make sense. Why would the "middle class" be only 10 of the strongest warriors of all time, and then everyone else is lumped into low class? I can understand "elite class" being only the royal family to make Vegeta(s) feel more important, but there should be a "high class" for people like Nappa and apparently Raditz and then a "mid class" for people like Bardok and a "low class" for people like the rest of Bardoks team. Which is likely how it originally was, with Raditz being an example of a good but not great Saiyan, average to above average but nothing special, and thats why Nappa called him a weakling. Goku was a low class not because he was just one of the many, but because he was particularly weak and thats why his progression is so amazing and so offensive to Vegeta.
