I copied the design of the salvimar tomahawk. The top band has a string inside to limit the stretch. It's connected to 2 bands on the bottom one of which you remove before loading. The inverted roller was disappointing, the pulley cuts your power in half. I've compared many designees in the pool and I like this the best.
Did you end up liking this conversion after using it? I have a meandros too and love it; I would not think of converting it. But maybe I’m open to try a roller one day.
Is there a method to get rid of the foam in a barrel? I bought a foam filled cuttle fish barrel and id like to get rid of the foam and have it hollow and sealed instead for more buoyancy and less weight .

Bands are tricky since it depends on rubber material, thickness, internal diameters, pre tension, etc. I’ve heard not so nice things about the mvd roller, just fyi. I was going to go with that one first, but after research decided not to.
@@castandspear thanks man, i´m tented to try to convert, but i don´t know yet which kit i would buy. foaming the barrel reduce significantly the recoil? what bands are you using?? thanks ;)
@@Rawly84 the foam added a bit of mass, which helps some. It really helped the noise of the metal barrel be muted. I used 16mm small ID mannysub rubber for the bands.

The measure of the 13 inches where the second blue tape was placed to stretch the bands to. How was that calculated?
I believe that was in the instructions that came with the roller head listing out the amount of pretension.
But the foam doesn’t make the speargun floating to much?
Nope, the tube was hollow before so the dense foam added some mass. It shot better filled

depends on the exact material of the foam but pouring in hexane or gasoline might help. Make sure to remove all plastic parts before.
